Re: PETA Takes A Dig At Animal Crossing: New Horizons With 'Vegan Guide' To The Game

@SmaggTheSmug

It only took a matter of a few googles to expose that the website you cited, Certified Humane, is actually a disreputable organization that (apparently) is an arm of the animal-food industry, and not at all what they purport to be. I.E. they are in favor of the meat industry, and therefore, obviously, they're at odds with PETA. You're selectively choosing to self-affirm by selecting this article/source to conform with your predisposition to justify consuming animals. Additonally, they cite a single huffpo article re: a single worker doing clearly awful things---a classic rhetorical fallacy, intended to make a single individual/action "Stand" for a whole organization. Even a mildly skeptical read of your source reveals huge gaps in credibility, or at least, pause for reason to disregard it as questionable. I challenge you to find a single other source reporting on this. Its obviously a hit job by a competing interested party with a different ideology. PETA isnt killing dogs. This literally sounds like something you'd hear on Faux News.

>>>>>> At least with meat slaughter the animal's death ensures another creature's survival (as it happens in nature).

Naturalistic fallacy, my friend. Same reason people deny global warming, or anti-vax mindset, or argue that men should be allowed to beat women. "Well, in nature, this is how things work". Sure, and humans evolved past a lot of negative, gross behaviors that we no longer consider acceptable (polygamy, murder, etc). Eating meat is just easy to "justify", but we want it both ways: well, we're morally superior to all other animals, smarter, etc---except when it comes to dinnertime, then, well, we're just one of the animals again.

I try to say "to each their own", but its hard when one comes in the comments for articles like this and sees all the disappointingly unintellectual comments "i like ma meat cuz it tastes good fuk dem animals".

@NIN10DOXD I dont think i suggested ignoring facts. Sure, humans have been omnivorous. However, humans have also lived without antibiotics, have fought horrific wars, and ruined entire ecologies throughout history. Just because something is historically true doesnt mean we need be beholden to our past failings.

Meat industry is cruel, and animals deserve better. If you dont care to change, that is certainly your perogative. Me, i'm happy not killing stuff, and havent eaten animals since the 90s. FWIW, i hiked 100+ miles across australia last year, and similarly japan the year before....so its certainly not a matter of requirement for health to kill animals. Its just preference. To each their own, i guess.

@SmaggTheSmug I'd need you to cite something (journalism, news, etc), because no offense intended, this sounds like conspiracy theory stuff. Sincerely interested to learn, but your comments dont seem like they jive with the standard facts.

sidenote, I find it interesting how angry meat eaters get when animal cruelty or animal rights issues get raised, i must say.

Myself and 4 friends played a lot of this game yesterday--- about 4 hours local Co-op on the couch old school. the game is fun, I do feel the hype is a little high for this game, it's a very entertaining diversion and the unique aspect of having multiple ways to win a match makes it exciting. I do feel like the physics are a little clunky , the Queen herself can be frustrating to move around the map , and although this is an intended feature, i did notice it made me feel a little less interested in the game after a while.

However the biggest flaw with this game is the user interface. Even with four experienced gamers, getting local matches set up with bots and navigating the menus to start a simple match was surprisingly challenging at times. It's not insurmountable, but it felt like the ways of getting a match started could have been streamlined and simplified a great deal. Again, 4 gamers of many years---we're in agreement about this, it wasn't simple ignorance on the part of this user. Also unless we missed something, there is a four player local Co op limit. We were surprised by this, since a match entails 8 players, but it seems as though when playing locally you're limited to 4 humans +4 bots. Not sure if this is the case online—we only played local.

This was a bit disappointing since we had five players, and naturally assumed we'd all be able to play. However the user interface actually refuses to let you start a new game if you have 5 controllers synced to the switch. We actually had 2 close the game refresh all controllers , and eliminate one controller from sync before the game would even allow us to start a match. Seems strange.

Overall, it is a fun couch Co-op experience. But I admit that I thought the hype was a little bigger than the actual experience. Recommended, with expectations in check.

Re: Guide: The Best Value amiibo For Your Nintendo Switch

I cannot fathom how few people ever noted the amazing funcitonality of the Splatoon Amiibos for the original Splatoon on WiiU. (yeah yeah i know, nobody bought WiiU, i get it).

But, those Splatoon Amiibo were, by far, the best use of the amiibo i've ever seen--because they unlock GAMES!!

Each Amiibo unlocks a separate 8-bit-style minigame you can play while in the online battle lobby. And best, when the match begins, the game automatically saved your progress and when you came back to the lobby, you could begin again.

Its truly sad Nintendo hasnt done anything else like this. I collect amiibo, but im bored of battling them in Smash, so i have almost no use for them. At least a few have never been used for anything.

I'm really disappointed to hear this. As I was speculating on our show this past week (Just Another Castle podcast), I wondered if this might be the case---it just seemed too good to be true to imagine we could stream the game, when its clearly intended for JP region, not USA. Otherwise, they'd have announced it as a worldwide option.

I really, truly hope they try this approach in the west. I'd rather be able to rent-play it, than not at all.

I liked Whoa Dave! enough that I think i'll probably get this one eventually. The first one was also very simple, but a good Quick game for when riding the train for a few minutes or a short waiting room arcade experience.

@RETRO_J I suppose i see what you mean about crass in that sense--that he's (in some ways) mocking poorly-authored, ungrammatical comments.
But at the same time, i do sympathize with what he's doing here--a lot of negative commenters on the internet dont take time to truly explain their objections or think deeper than a superficial, off-the-cuff response. And i support pushing back on the illiteracy/internet culture of those sorts of comments. And maybe light mocking/rebuttal (even if a bit crass, in some senses) of those tones/attitudes has a place, especially if it makes younger/poor commenters realize how useless those responses really are.
I dont really see it as the tabloid thing...i actually support NL's stance here.....but hey, its your view, and valid as mine. ;']

This is amazing, thank you for this rebuttal of the haters. COmically, a good friend and I have been having a similar debate all week and im loving/relishing this video as your iteration of the same context I've been stating myself.

Labo looks amazing, if it's not for you, relax.

I dont get it. Do all 4 of you play on the same screen, or on split screen, or on individual screens (ala Switch)?

Do all 4 players begin as living characters, or do some of you begin as ghosts?
