Re: Nintendo Will Reportedly Fix Joy-Con Drift For Free And Refund Customers Who Paid

twadebarcelona

I had this happen multiple times, and kept sending them in for repair, and Nintendo would give me a new 12 month warranty period after each repair, but I got fed up and just bought a new pair of Joy Cons in the end. A friend of mine bought a second hand Switch from CeX two days ago and I told him buying used means he may be unable to get a repair under Nintendo's warranty, if he has Joy Con drift, and he said it'll be fine. I was with him yesterday and he was trying to type in a wifi password and asked why the thing for selecting letters was moving down constantly, and I recognised it as the Joy Con drift I'd warned him about. He ended up going into CeX and they swapped the Joy Con for him.

Re: Minecraft's Platform-Unifying Bedrock Edition Arrives On Switch This June

@Yoshi That was confirmed a year ago. The Console Edition will only be available for those who previously bought it though, with all new purchases getting just this version.

@TheTetrisGuy If you've already purchased the Switch version, you'll get this version for free.

@astrofan1993 You won't be able to play your Java servers. This version is the Bedrock version, not the Java version. Bedrock is the name of the version that started on Android and iOS, before being made available on Windows 10, then Xbox One, and now finally Switch. The mobile and Win10 versions of Bedrock allow you to use custom skins and access any Bedrock compatible server using their IP, however the Xbox One and Switch versions only allow you to use skins from the purchasable skin packs (like how Console Edition was) and access servers that have partnered with Microsoft, allowing them to be on there. This means you can't just create a server and join its IP, or access Java servers (the Java edition is a whole different game, under the hood).

Re: Kimishima Says Nintendo Has Plans For The 3DS In 2019 And Beyond

@GameOtaku

To the end user (you), it wouldn't matter. However, Nintendo likes to have a certaon level of quality control over how their VC titles run. They want to ensure they can run in a way that doesn't tax the hardware (which some GBA games could do, die to the clunky methods used), as well as having an interface that they're happy with. Emulating the GBA within the 3DS doesn't work very well, due to the hardqare differences, which is why the hacking community chose to just inject roms into the Ambassador titles, over emulation (like with the really bad quality SNES VC that was made to work on the original model 3DS by the hacking community).

Either Nintendo sticks to their word from 2011 where they said they wouldn't do GBA VC, as well as keeping up the quality they feel happy with, or they can release a subpar product that people like you will only complain about anyway, due to it not being what you wanted.

@Spectra @Angelic_Lapras_King

GBA VC won't happen on the 3DS. Not just because of the Ambassador program, but also because of how the system loads the games. It doesn't work with the way Nintendo wants the VC system to be. Whilst you could argue that SNES VC could work on all models in a way that fits their outline (that outline being a smooth experience and interface, with access to certain features including the ability to create restore points), not even the hacking community has managed to make a VC-esque way to run GBA games (instead opting to run them the same way as the Ambassador titles, which basically involves running the GBA games built into the way the 3DS has DS backwards compatibility, and the DS had built in GBA backwards compatibility (which is the same as why GameCube VC wasn't on the Wii U)).

Re: Feature: Exploring The "Switch Tax" And Why Nintendo Was Right to Use Game Cards

@Hawkstream Physical games are still a viable thing. They allow you to share your games with others, as well as being a way to sell on games you don't like or don't want anymore.

Just last weekend I was working at a gaming event, and my system was being used for the event. However, the game that was planned to be used was one I didn't own, so a friend I was also working with just gave me his copy, to allow people to play. If Switch games were all download only, that wouldn't have been possible.

Also, having all games be digital only makes the system less future-proof once the servers close. Look at the PSP Go, which is basically a useless device (unless you CFW it) now that the pSP Store has closed down.

@Jacob1092
With the updated version, all purchases are accessible on each device, so if you activate the Windows 10 version, you'll get the update activated when that goes live. Then you can just use that version as the activated version on your Switch. At least it should do, unless it's only DLC that's accessible with only one purchase.
