Following on from the comments Bill Trinen recently made to the Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Invitational, Nintendo has announced a special “E3 Experience” will take place at the New York Nintendo store.
The five-day event will coincide with the biggest video game convention of the year, offering any Nintendo fans who can make it, the chance to go hands on with Mario Tennis Aces and most importantly, Super Smash Bros. for the Switch. While you’re there, you’ll also be able to watch the many live stream events. This includes the Splatoon 2 World Championship, the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo Treehouse and also the Super Smash Bros. Invitational.

Anything for the UK? No? Ok.
And the queue will be 5 miles long. Better start camping outside the store now New Yorkers.
Will be just a demo few characters maybe one stage.they should add it on eshop also to play for one week.
How do peple think this is gonna be a port? It's being made by a different studio, has a different logo, different name, different modes, different characters, but people still say it's going to be a rip-off port?
@RichardZ all switch games are either ports or shovel-ware - it’s the rules - even if they aren’t - the internet says so. Oh and they are “only for kids”
I gave up questioning it. Yet if the PS4 gets a HD remaster it’s the most exciting thing ever and isn’t labelled a port
SMH. Nintendo is really showcasing this Smash...really hope it is a new game.
@N64SNESU I have yet to buy a game I have on Wii U for my Switch, neither has my son. Tempted by Tropical Freeze... but it's a masterpiece.
Just Smash and Mario Tennis Aces seems a bit too narrow.
@RichardZ don't question sages like @N64SNESU, his uncle works at Nintendo and he already knows everything. He's so wise he thinks Nintendo would make a port the centerpiece of their showcase
@gortsi No it's my Aunt who works at Nintendo
Tempted. The $90 in train tickets or 2 hour drive and $30 to park probably means we won't, but I'll talk it over with the teens.
@N64SNESU I have two nephews in two different households who both upgraded to Switch from their Wii U, again they have yet to buy a game for their Switch that is available on Wii U. No one I know is called Blanket, neither is Michaels son, it was a term of affection that stuck.
@N64SNESU so they ported the enine and made new stages and characters? Isn’t that a new game then? Or is every Call of Duty, Fifa and Assassians Creed game also a port then?
@N64SNESU every smash game gas the same director and new characters and stages lol
Now if only Nintendo would expand those stores into other major cities across the planet....
@N64SNESU What makes a sequel? Ever Smash game (except 64) most likely started off as the previous one. Heck, I’d argue WiiU feels somewhat like a really improved version of Brawl. But, again do you have any evidence that the new Smash is just a port or are you just crying about how the Wii U failed?
@N64SNESU On the Wii U EShop and most retail stores that still sell Smash Wii U (still have a few Targets near me selling Wii U games) it still costs $60.
@Mrtoad excellent point!
@Mrtoad You can get it for less online.
No idea what for. WiiU games are 2nd hand market at this point - it would be as strange as buying a "New" PS3 game. You can find it in excellent condition for $25 not even trying.
Oh how nice. Unfortunately I can’t, on a three day notice, drive 7 hours and get a hotel room. I always have had this tiny hope that companies like Nintendo would just make the E3 demos available for people in their homes that week... I realize that would defeat the purpose of the event but still. I guess this at least opens it up to people near NYC.
Though I already got to try Aces, I just wanna demo the new Smash, haha.
Come on guys you know what I mean. This game will be the same thing as mario kart 8 deluxe was to mario kart 8. And I'm no troll, I love Nintendo.....
@N64SNESU Do you have any proof of that or are you just saying that because “Da Switch haz a lot of portz sooo it must be a port.” If that’s it I need a little more than that. Could you state at least one of your reasons why it is obvious to anyone with eyes that Nintendo is focusing their entire E3 presentation on a port and making a big deal out of The Whole thing?!
Who cares if it's playable in one store in one city on this planet with tons of cities and billions of people?
This is local news, not global news. Since when has NL become a local news site?
It's going to be straight insanity there
I live in Manhattan but it's going to be too insane and I have to work all week. When I was between jobs in 2016, I took full advantage of these sorts of events at Nintendo NY - even got to play Breath of the Wild early that summer. But these days I'm willing to wait for my own copy.
If you do come out to Manhattan ever, do try to get a chance to play ANYTHING on the big screen upstairs. It's the largest video game screen I've ever seen, and I was lucky to play Breath of the Wild on Wii U on it that summer when we were just learning what was in the game!
@ShadJV They could do something similar to the Splaton, ARMS and Mario Tennis demos.
@N64SNESU Wow, I didn't know you were a psychic.
@N64SNESU You don't love Nintendo you love trolling and being the counterpoint and breed your confirmation bias. A contrarian dork if there ever was one. Why even post on a board if all you want to do is cynically poo talk? Why be on a Nintendo enthusiast site and honestly brah this "aunt" of yours does she exist? Probably not.
@twadezelda3dsxl they could, sure. But they won’t, at least during E3. Otherwise there’s not much point in having the game playable at the Nintendo World store. I think it’s highly unlikely we’d get a demo playable from our home Switches during E3.
@N64SNESU Did your uncle who works at Nintendo tell you this?
Obvious troll is an obvious troll. Just ignore and move on.
The whole port vs. new game for Smash has turned farcical. As has the porting comments in general. If you don’t own a WiiU, PS4 or XB1, then every game for the Switch is a ‘new’ game. But for some reason there’s a vocal minority who are so insecure, they feel the need to negatively troll other consoles. Each to their own. As for me, I just love games, and I hope y’all love your games too...
