Bringing something a little bit different to Switch this summer is Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet, a pirate adventure with a healthy dose of comedy thrown in for good measure.
Created by comedian and filmmaker, Alasdair Beckett-King, the game sees the titular Nelly setting off on an adventure to rescue birds who have been hypnotised by the villainous Baron Widebeard. As you can see from the trailer above, the game stars none other than Tom Baker of Doctor Who fame.
Here's a quick look at the game's plot:
What is Baron Widebeard planning? Can he be stopped? In what way is a frozen volcano involved?
To answer these questions comes Nelly Cootalot: pirate heroine and defender of endangered and adorable creatures. Nelly's journey will take her from Port Rubicund in the South Seas to the lonely isle of Gloomholm in the icy north. She'll meet outlandish characters and face perplexing challenges in her quest for the Treasure of the Seventh Sea.
The game's controls have been redesigned for its release on Switch, with the Joy-Con and touchscreen both supported, and Beckett-King just so happens to be an award-winning stand-up comedian - we should be in for a good laugh with this one.
Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet will set sail on Switch on 11th July, so there's only a little over a month to wait.

This looks great. I'd have a hoot playing this with my sons. I love the prominent "distinctly British" comment too.
Wow, toms getting around in his old age...
I cringe every time I see a self proclaimed "hilarious" game.
If it's like a spiritual successor to Monkey island then I'm all up for it being a success. Dat art style tho is a big oof for me. But the big butt lady henchman is a cutie.
It definitely has a Cbeebies feel to it.
Okay, this is different, I could see me playing this game even if it is mostly funny story. I liked Forgotton Anne, even though it was 90% story, 10% game. If the rest of the story is as funny as the clips here, it could be a cool diversion from other games.
@Rhaoulos I bet if this game was a person, they'd laugh at their own jokes.

Caught my attention by mentioning the Doctor. Lost it just as fast when I saw this had nothing to do with Doctor Who.
Met him a few years back, nice guy! Although, I think the last thing I remember him in was Little Britain?
@Jayofmaya He did appear in the 50th anniversary special for Doctor Who, and still regularly does Doctor Who stuff to this day.
@twadebarcelona Tbf I met him at a Doctor Who Q/A at a small comic-con type event so I know he still does that kind of tour. If I'm honest, I haven't watched many of the modern Dr. Who episodes. I used to watch the old ones a lot as a child.
