Back in the day, we used to gladly pay for a monthly copy of EGM, Game Pro or Mean Machines. And then still have to see ads (although print ads were much more fun and creative than annoying digital ads). I'll definitely consider supporting since I'm always visiting NL for gaming news.
1985. I got into gaming a few years after that, but without that year all the rest don't matter and I am not even as big of a Nintendo fan as I am a Sega fan. You just have to respect and admire what was done then.
Some pretty lame physical bonuses for such a big release. I'm sure if I sat down for 15 minutes I could have thought of better stuff. Or just no goodies and keep that price at $60 instead of $70. Although, I probably won't be picking up the game since I never had such a great time with the first one.
NES. Those games set such a standard right out of the gate. A very hard thing to do imho. I'm not as big of a Nintendo fan as I am a Sega fan, but just think of the NES first-party titles: Mario 1-3, Metroid, Punch-out, Zelda, etc.
Not too much gaming this weekend, but beat Robocop on the NES, got in some shoot 'em up action with Razion EX on the Switch and got started with a bit of Sifu, also on the Switch. It's Sunday night by me still, so going to try for a few games of Splatoon 3 and some jeep combat with NES Jackal if time allows!
Great shoot 'em up, although it can be brutal at times. I recently beat the Genesis port while the pandemic was in full swing. Glad that others can check it out too.
I hope they get rid of when you're inside a divine beast and trying figure out the internal path. That was bit frustrating.
And hopefully, all the bosses will be much harder. Most I beat the first time around and that felt pretty lame. I'm no expert gamer, but it felt like a lot of build up for a very easy boss battle.
@Lynox5 Yeah, you had to beat those 4 bosses 4 times in a row, iirc. I just kept at it hoping something different would happen. That part of the game really killed it for me and felt like unnecessary padding. If you thought that was frustrating, the end boss was super tough. It was basically my first rpg, so it was pretty overwhelming for me. I basically, had to go grind for a ton of elixirs to ensure that everyone could heal at all times. Looking back I did enjoy the game, but at the time it was tough as hell.
@Magician Thanks! I may have one of them already. I'll need to check. Loving the all the shoot 'em ups on the Switch, but man — they're coming thick and fast, lol.
That skinny font may be for localization requirements (longer translation strings, special characters, non-Roman alphabets, etc). They've got a lot more languages / territories to consider than they did back in the day when some or all of these were released initially. Possibly. Maybe.
I had my eye on this one since it popped up on my radar. I like a good beat 'em up and the main character designs look great. I'll try to track down a physical copy.
Late as usually, but I played the following this weekend: 1. Arcade Paradise on Switch 2. Splatoon 3 on Switch 3. Sonic Frontiers on Switch 4. Lunar: The Silver Star on Sega CD 5. Truberbrook on Switch 6. Road Rash on Genesis
This looks great. Hopefully, they can reach their goal. I've only played Gaiares and I'm terrible at it, but I love that more people may have the chance to play these.
There's one near me. I may go. I did go to the 2017 Summer of Play event or whatever it was called. I wonder if there'll be any "not for resale' / "demo" carts floating around after these events or if the demo versions of these games will be on Switch demo units themselves.
Looks great. Not a big RPG fan but had to jump in. Pre-ordered the Chained Echoes Nintendo Switch Retro Edition just for that great looking SNES box. Only 500 available so I'm surprised I could get one.

Video games and fishing, the eternal, unlikely romance.
Re: Review: Assault Suits Valken Declassified - A Great Treatment Of A Mecha Classic

Space laser robots?! I'm in!

Re: Talking Point: Which Is Your Favourite 3DS Theme?
Glad to see the Sega theme doing well at the time of my vote being cast.
Re: Nintendo Reveals Official MAR10 Day Switch Console Bundle
Pretty uninspired. They should have themed it on the original 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie instead — This Ain't No Game!

NES. Those games set such a standard right out of the gate. A very hard thing to do imho. I'm not as big of a Nintendo fan as I am a Sega fan, but just think of the NES first-party titles: Mario 1-3, Metroid, Punch-out, Zelda, etc.

5/16 and I'm proud of that! Did beat the game once ages ago, but no DLC.

Great shoot 'em up, although it can be brutal at times. I recently beat the Genesis port while the pandemic was in full swing. Glad that others can check it out too.

I've honestly lost count of all the Raiden games coming to the market recently. What's on the 30th anniversary edition?

'89 Game & Watch for me.

There is only one correct choice here and it is NES and original Game Boy!

Late again with this, but here's what I played this weekend:
Re: New Sonic Prime Trailer Sees Shadow Join The Multiverse Action
This doesn't look half bad. The company I work for played a tiny role in this series and as a Sonic fan, I'll give it a watch in December.
Re: Exclusive: Dive Into A Hand-Crafted Paper World With Puzzle Adventure 'Papetura'
Looks great. Just two hours which I am totally fine with and you have to love the art style. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Looks fantastic. Hopefully, I can remember to give it a go when it releases.
