Re: Nintendo to Skip Paris Games Week at the End of October

@FragRed
I know you didn't ask me the question but "Why bother"? 🤔 Eh money

The Wii u is still Nintendo's current console no matter what anyone says. They are still selling them. I can't see them pulling the plug, or doing anything to upset sales, just before the busiest season of the year.

I wasn't happy with the gamepad at the beginning but now at the end of its life I consider the Wii u a brilliant system thanks to Nintendo's first & second party games. The console is extremely well made, it doesn't overheat unlike certain consoles I won't mention. I bought most first and second party games and I didn't get a chance to play most of them yet.

The highlights for me so far have been Starfox zero, Pikmin 3, Mario kart 8 and Mario maker. I own and have yet to play properly, W101, Xenoblade X, Bayonette 2, Smash bros Wii u, Wolly world, Zombie u, Mario 3D world, Nintendo land, DK tropical freeze, NSMBU and I'm buying Captain toad plus we have Zelda u and Colour splash coming soon. I also have Mass effect 3 and COD black opps 2 that I bought for half nothing.

So for me the Wii u is far from dead. History will treat the Wii u as a legendary console with a great library of must have games.

Re: Nintendo NX Will "Change The Concept" Of Home Console And Handheld Gaming, Says Pokémon Company President

Nintendo are taking a big gamble here, but it's one they have to take. As far as I can see NX is not really bringing anything new to the table; gameplay wise. It's just means Nintendo will be able to focus on one system and not two as they have had to do in the past.

The battleground will be the games and hopefully loads of them. It could be very good.

PS: I couldn't care less about 3rd party games, just give me Nintendo games.

I've enough backlog to do me 10 years, I'm adding to it all the time, in the last month I've bought 3 games alone. I only started playing Pikmin 3 now even though i bought it a few years ago. Loving it by the way.

The only way Nintendo will sell NX to me is with killer first party games. I'm not bothered with 3rd party I can get them on the PlayStation. I think 3rd party games are well overrated, even on Sony's system I try to get first party games. I'm getting a ps4 this Christmas.

Re: Talking Point: Unique and Affordable - Nintendo's NX Needs to Avoid Direct Competition With PlayStation and Xbox

I think Sony may have made their first major mistake (console wise) with the PS4 pro. I am finding it all very strange. It's only for people with 4K TVs and Virtua reality headsets as far as I can see. I am very interested in the new slim PS4 though. I'm thinking Black Friday.

The NX will be in competition with PS4 and Xbone since they're all consoles.

@Folkloner
What are you on about. It's not what I would do. I'm just putting a thought out there. Is there any actual proof NX is getting revealed in the next month or so?
The way I see it Nintendo are keeping the console under wraps from the competition and they will not want to interfere with Wii u and 3ds sales coming up to Christmas.
What's the difference between a reveal 6 months before release and 3 months? Not a lot from what I can see.

Re: New Play Control! Pikmin Out Now on the Wii U eShop in Europe

2 incredible games.

I have both GameCube and Wii version of Pikmin and the Wii version is the best because of the controls. I really enjoyed playing Pikmin on the Wii. I couldn't complete it on the GameCube but I could on the Wii.

€30 for 2 games ain't bad but they can probably be got cheaper. I don't like digital.

That's me, I only buy first party titles mostly. That shop looks amazing. Retro will always be big. I love it. It transports you to an era where you can experience the excitement and enjoy the classic gameplay from that time. It's the artwork as well, it's so cool.

@EllenJMiller
That's why Wii u games are going to hold their value in the future. If Wii u games are hard to find now, what will it be like when the Wii u is discontinued? Wii u games will be like GameCube games. Expensive. There are a few nice games getting the Nintendo selects treatment and now is the time to get them. I'm waiting for Captain toad on Sep 30.

Sega certainly looked more arcade in them days and they had the "cool image", I originally went downtown to buy a Megadrive back in 91 (a year before SNES hit Europe). As faith would have it I came home with a NES. The MD was £150 with NO GAME. So I didn't fancy going home with a new console and nothing to play on it. I bought a NES that night for £120 with Super Mario bros and Duck hunt included in the price. I knew nothing about Nintendo but I had heard about them on TVs. I love the NES but with the 16bit graphics of the MD and the looming release of the SNES.

I sold the NES a year later with 5 games for £150. Headed downtown and bought a SNES with Super Mario world for £170 and never looked back.

I didn't really know much about gaming but I knew what I liked and what a console the SNES turned out to be. For me it wasn't the multi platform games (Street fighter being the exception), it was the first party games that brought it to the next level. At the end of the SNES era I truly believed Nintendo were the greatest video games company of ever. To me Nintendo were Coke and Sega were Pepsi.

I first played F zero in the shop and my jaw hit the floor. I can clearly remember the day I got the game. My then girlfriend bought it for me because I'd no money.

It was such a step up on anything I'd seen or played before. Incredible. I think you had to live in them times to really appreciate what was happening, the games Nintendo were spitting out. Nintendo were ruling the scene. Yet all my friends had Megadrives. They hadn't a clue.
