@MrGawain I feel like it makes sense that this should be true, but it’s been happening for so long without consequence that publishers can just reasonably assume that people are suckers.
I think Bill Trinen has been wanting to do something like this for a long time. I wonder to what extent the harassment and assault allegations from within the community over the last few years may have helped push Nintendo toward taking control of events it can help manage safely.
They’re just such weird, sprawling and aimless looking sets. It’s so weird for series (both Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario) that have such tight design in their own ways. I really hope the success of this collaboration between Lego and Nintendo leads to less Duplo-style Lego sets. The Harry Potter sets would be a great kicking off point; I’d love a Hogwarts-style Luigi’s Mansion.
Well the fact that I can play N64 games online has totally sold me on this. Being able to play Mario Kart with my brother in another city is all I needed.
Hang on, when does anyone not have a game card in their switch, other than before the first time they put one in? I’ve only ever taken a game out to put another one in…
Nintendolife needs stop reporting on fan projects. You’re just throwing fuel on the fire, the equivalent of narking. Nintendo’s lawyers don’t even need to scour the Internet, they can just keep this site bookmarked.
I bought it recently for Gamecube (for way too high a price, I’m sad to say).
It really doesn’t make any sense as a game. It’s clear that GTA was popular, and that they tried to make it a family friendly version. But the world of The Simpsons just doesn’t fit with that style of play. Why is Homer yelling psychopathic catch phrases while running people over? Why is there even an option to kick people repeatedly as they bounce down the street? Bad behaviour is a huge part of the fun of GTA, but in the Simpsons it feels weird and ill-conceived. A shoe that never fit in the first place.
I wish the difficulty levels would start off higher for the later entries in the series. I get sick of blasting through 5x5 and 10x10 regular puzzles. I’d be way more interested in a Picross Hard series.
I have an Apple Arcade subscription. I’ve probably spent more on it than I would have on the individual games I’ve given serious time to if I had bought them on Switch. Still, if it’s on Arcade, that’s a lost sale for those developers on Switch from me.
Neopets hasn’t seen significant updates in like 10 years. There’s no way they’re putting the necessary resources into making it work on Switch!
There was a really interesting article on Neopets’ economy a few years ago, and how it was essentially ruined by inflation from the money being constantly spawned out of thin air. The article really gave me the sense that the people who ran Neopets really sort of lucked into something that worked for a brief time, without ever really understanding it.
What, you mean they announced Overwatch 2 before it existed to distract from their crappy politics and community standards, directed by their corporate owners? Huh.
@Beaucine I kinda disagree. If you sit down to play a stealth game, you can expect to be learning the game system so that you can understand and exploit the movement patterns of enemies.
Even though some are fast-paced and some are slow (and some real-time and some turn-based), you can expect a constant push and pull of tension and release, planning and execution, waiting and movement. There are obviously exceptions, but I imagine if these general ideas are not your cup of tea, you wouldn’t expect to like many stealth games.
And, you know, if you only really like big shiny open 3D worlds you can explore, with amazing graphics and physics, it’s unlikely you’d find many indie games that did it for you.
I’m a fan of both, but some people just know what they like.
It’s just kinda weird to say they don’t need to worry about financials as much now, because even if they don’t have a huge flop that would sink them as an indie, Tencent could decide they’re just not pulling in enough to be valuable and shutter the whole thing. Exactly the way bigger companies keep doing it in the gaming industry.
This is actually the first DLC fighter I’ve been disappointed by since they started doing them. They’ve got so many franchises they haven’t touched and so few slots left. This felt like a fan mock-up to me.
He doesn’t even look to play very interestingly. Would much rather have had a magic user from FF if they had to do another one.
@BLD True. And the extent to which the popular vote is divided, as well as the closeness of these swing states, suggests that whoever ultimately takes power is almost arbitrary based on some very crude rounding and district mapping, haha.
@BLD Remembering, of course, that it’s people, not stretches of land, who are given the right to vote. “Tiny pockets” of any colour can represent far more human votes than a land map can show.
It’s also probably easy enough to copy a good idea, but very, very hard to pull it off like Nintendo does. Shame to hear it’s still so similar; its similarities to Zelda really do seem to be the reason anyone is talking about the game at all.
Haha this is a nightmare. Reminds me of when I bought the Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fate game on DS.
The store was selling the US version, because DS games weren’t region-locked... except the multiplayer. Took me hours to figure out why I couldn’t play with my friend.
We had the censored version of the first one (but not of the second!), so I’d love to see the wild boss kills in the original version. It’s such a good game.
The thing that makes it feel unfinished for me is the lack of a town, and the way they’ve given the player the power to do things (haircuts, furniture customisation, etc) that other characters used to be there for.
I miss showing up to Club Lol, the Roost, Tortimer’s Island, Re-Tail, Leif’s store, the hairdresser’s...!
@Xiovanni another Kiwi here—I visited the Melbourne store a couple of weeks ago. It’s bigger than ours on the ground floor, but then there are a smaller additional two floors just for Nintendo stuff. Level 1 is the store, Level 2 just has a bunch of Switch pods and people are standing there playing demos. It’s pretty cool.

Re: Rockstar Apologises For GTA Trilogy Issues, First Of Multiple Updates Due In 'Coming Days'
Stop selling the same until it’s fixed then, you absolute jerks.
As everyone has already said, selling it in this condition was absolutely intentional to get the game out ahead of the Christmas season.

Re: Nintendo's Monster Hunter Sale Discounts Five Games And Lots Of Rise DLC
How does 3U compare to Tri on the Wii? Those monster fights used to feel much more tense than they do now.
Swimming around with that Lagiacrus and trying to get some hits in was one of the most tense moments in my time playing games.

No pets, although weirdly there is a dog kennel, which Butch gives the side-eye every time he comes by my house.
Also, you can catch a frog and keep it in a tank. Prince hasn’t been round since he saw that on my table.
