In case you're wondering, all of the above are worth playing (though 3U is likely to test your patience the most).
Dont think i could go back to old MH games. I loved having the option to have a mount to get around quickly.
Is this US only? On the UK Eshop it still looks like it is showing full price for me.
Hopefully one of these days they'll put 3 Ultimate on the Switch, I miss that game, and I don't feel like playing it on my 3DS, lol
Sorry but still patiently waiting for Rise on PC. After playing World with that smooth frame rate I really can't go back to console MonHon.
Port 3 and 4 Ultimate to Switch Capcom and then give us Monster Hunter 5.
@Specter_of-the_OLED
I am a bit curious: What do you consider as "Monster Hunter 5"? World? Or something completely different for some reason?
Because I am pretty sure World and Rise are both supposed to be gen 5 Monster Hunter.
@Kirgo Monster Hunter Rise was supposed to be "5", but someone in planning misspelled "five" as "rise" and it just stuck.
Its a shame 4/U never got a console version. It just kills my hands to try and play on 3DS. It's the only games, barring FU, that never got any sort of home console version...
@ActionNineNews "smooth" framerate and higher framerate are two different things. Either way, I cant imagine anyone cares too much.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I wonder how many times they have to tell us that World is 5 but they gave it a different name to not alienate new players
How does 3U compare to Tri on the Wii? Those monster fights used to feel much more tense than they do now.
Swimming around with that Lagiacrus and trying to get some hits in was one of the most tense moments in my time playing games.
Despite my preference for the subgenre's other representatives, MH3U could have been a likely library addition at this price... but I'm out of gaming budget for this fortnight and the offer "falls in line with the previous sale" (i.e. short of next payday) while starting much later. Oh well.
@stipey it feels basically the same, as it is the "same" game (same story and basic progression through the low rank offline) except 3U has significantly more content in monsters, weapon types, G rank difficulty, another partner, and events are downloads and not tied to an online only rotation. If you enjoyed 3, there is little reason not to go for 3U, I'd say. The lighting and FOV feel a little different from the Wii game since it's on a significantly smaller screen, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker, I think.
Small discount but better then none. Good time to get players into trying out Rise.
@Pizzamorg Yep, NA only. Not that NintendoLife could be bothered to write that. Basically, if an article is by Ryan Craddock, it's NA-only unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Is it worth getting Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate? I'm considering it since I've beaten all of the content in rise, as I'm done with the post release monsters like apex and I don't feel like grinding for all of the Armour and weapons? There probably won't be more content in Rise for at least 5 or 6 months until the expansion releases.
@Techno19 yes but you'll have to get used to old school MH, as in making potions out of herbs and mushrooms and everything loading ever 10 seconds ect.
It DEFINITELY is packed with way more content then rise had
@Techno19 MH gen ultimate is probably the mh game with the most content of the series, imo that one and 4 are the best "old" mh games and if you are a fan of the series it's absolutely worth getting it.
@Ratmasterd21 @Bl4ckb100d Thanks, I'll probably get it since it pretty cheap and it takes 76 hours just for the main story and almost 200 hours for all of the content, from how long to beat.com. I've also played some of 4 ultimate so I think it'll be a small adjustment. The Zelda and other special items from the online quests look fun, so I think I'll enjoy it by playing on and off until the expansion.
@RainbowGazelle Good to know for future, thank you.
@Techno19 I'm not sure what "all the content" would be when talking about GU, but there is so much to do that you could easily blow way past 200 hours and still have things to try. I cant imagine clearing every quest in 200 hours since some get extremely difficult. Either way, It is such a good time.
