Re: IDW Releasing Sonic The Hedgehog Hardcover Comic Collection In 2021

ryando

@Roibeard64
Sonic the Comic was the best in the early days! Back then, they had stories for other franchises like Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Echo the Dolphin, Kid Chameleon and Decap Attack. I'm probably forgetting a few. I loved how Streets of Rage was set ten minutes in the future. The most arbitrarily near future imaginable. I never had a Sega system, just a subscription to Sonic the Comic.

Re: Poll: Which Remastered Mario Games Would You Pick For A 'Super Mario All-Stars 2'?

ryando

I'll have Super Mario All Stars 2. That's 64 and Sunshine remade and the Galaxy games in HD. New Super Mario All Stars. A bundle of the 4 games, all redone with the U Deluxe polish. And while I'm all it Super Mario All Stars: Worlds + Lands. Let them save the development cost on this one and port them as they are. The branding might be a bit confusing but Nintendo have form in that area.

@hadrian Wario All Stars is the trick I missed! Want!

Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd October (Europe)

Call me spoilt but I think I'd prefer a remaster of the Wii Ghostbusters. Only briefly played it on PS3 and remember not enjoying it as much. Either way, Ghostbusters was my childhood and what I told people I wanted to be when I grew up.

Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

ryando

I'm in a full family plan and was looking at how many great snes games I got this morning for that price. It wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo have realised how much they have devalued their legacy content with their online service. Maybe a better idea would have been to continue the Virtual Console but release the games at prices you can't say no to. I'd have bought every NES games released so far at £1.00 each. Every SNES game at £2.00 each. It would have cost me more in the long run but I feel this would have kept their fans happier.

Re: Nintendo Announces New Joy-Con Colours Coming In October

ryando

"these new controllers will presumably carry the same components as the originals and we've had no end of trouble with our Joy-Con analogue sticks. Who knows - perhaps this was all part of the plan to have us throwing down $79.99 ever year or so."
Maybe not the worst Nintendo controller ever, but certainly the least reliable.

Here in the UK, Nintendo's customer service went downhill around the same time the Switch released, not helping matters. Nintendo used to put a lot more care into the build quality of their systems.

Re: Review: Luigi's Mansion - Experience The GameCube Classic The Way It Was Meant To Be Played

ryando

I hadn't used my 3ds since the Switch was released. Last week I decided to turn it on. I actually made use of a My Nintendo offer to get Wario Land 3, completing my VC collection of 1 - 4. Turns out I had forgot how much I enjoy the little thing. It has so much charm. All them Game Boy and Game Boy Colour games lined up on my home screen. I played a bit of Badge Arcade, opened Streetpass Plaza and cleared all the special Miis Nintendo had sent. Almost played Animal Crossing but couldn't bring myself to see how bad the town had got. Overall, I felt the Nintendo magic that I've not really felt with the Switch. Basically what I'm getting to is, I want to play games on the 3ds again, including this one.

Re: Guide: The Best Video Game Books Money Can Buy

ryando

@Sakura7 I've got a copy but it came free with Arcade magazine. They were sort of going for a older gamer/lads mag vibe. I remember them having a load of pictures of Nell McAndrew in her undies on account of her being the new Lara Croft at the time. That's an irrelevant point I'm making but someone's gonna have a nice go on Google images now.

Re: Review: Last Day Of June (Switch eShop)

@XenoShaun yeah, I'd like to read the articles without the words disappering behind the ad too. I was gonna be that guy earlier today but thought they'd have it fixed sooner rather than later.

Re: Feature: Remembering Toys R Us, The '90s Gamer's Paradise

I remember when the demo unit for Mario 64 was set up at the Fosse Park store. My mum would go and do the shopping while I stood there for hours. People would queue behind me but I'd just keep playing until they left. One frustrated kid hit the reset button and walked off. Paid £70 for the first Turok in there too. Crazy money for a game by today's standards. Shoe City was next door and they had the most amazing Funhouse style play area at the back of the shop.

Re: Sorry Netflix Fans, You Won't Be Watching Stranger Things On Your Switch Anytime Soon

ryando

Was trying to convince a friend to buy a Switch last night. I was doing quite well until he asked what apps it has. He just laughed when I told him no Netflix, no browser. He's gonna get an X Box 1X instead.

It's fine if some people don't want Netflix on the Switch. If it gets released, I'm sure it would be an optional download. Don't want it, don't download it. I don't have a smart TV and so I have to keep my Wii U set up just for Netflix and browsing.
