My only gripe with this release is that they didn't fix some of the infamously off sync maps and remove the atrocity that is the older versions of Chapter L. I've been playing this game for about 5-6 years so I was hoping for something to please the long time fans. I'll gladly take two extra chapters over nothing though...
I just beat FFIX, doing some side quests as we speak. Didn't have the patience for Chocobo Hot and Cold back in my previous runs, but having the game on the go helps a ton, I'm getting into it.
Still playing Smash obviously, and will start Metroid Prime 2 very soon. I just beat the first game, so that leaves 2 and 3 as the only Metroid games to beat (and Other M, but I'm still iffy about giving that one a go).
@Moroboshi876 I think people are more disappointed about the compressed music (which honestly sounds perfectly fine to me) and all the "bugs" that come with that version more than anything. I've never seen someone complain about the size of the hub, at least not yet.
@OorWullie Usually I always opt for X for newcomers. It's easy to get into, and aged the best in my opinion. It's pretty linear, but has a lot going for it in terms of post game content and minigames. VII is superb too, so it all comes down to your choice.
Already 20 hours into FF9. Appreciating it way more this time around. Wish there was a way to remove these ugly borders but otherwise an excellent entry.
Already reached Lindblum in FFIX. This is my third time playing the game, however I'm willing to get all the ultimate weapons and beat all the bonus bosses this time around (bar Ozma).
I'm elated not just by the delay but also that Retro Studios is developing it as well. I've already mentioned this in the previous article, but this means I have a lot of time to get into the Prime trilogy before this comes out.
Welp, no 2019 for you, Metroid Prime 4 (or 2020 for that matter).
I'm fine with them ceasing development and starting over with Retro Studios, which means the project is in good hands now. Also more time for me to get into the Prime trilogy, as I've only played the 2D games. 😛
I recommend checking out Ceave Gaming's channel, he puts an insane amount of effort into the challenges and handicaps he puts upon himself. He managed to absolutely destroy NSMBU in the past few months.
Still on the fence on whether it's making it to the Switch or not, not to say that I'm against a port. P5 is the reason that I was considering a PS4 at some point. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Also Sakurai hugging Morgana warmed my heart. Ultimate protection needed!
Ok, this is freaking awesome. Now if only it had a better stand, like a protection from the back and front. Can't help but feel that the current one is a tad unstable, but that's just me.
I was one of the few lucky chaps to not have much of an issue playing against strangers (using a third party USB 3.0 LAN Adapter and it proved useful). Nevertheless, I hope the online improves for the rest of the community.
@GloverMist Was never bothered by the control scheme either (the cradle that came with the game proved useful), but I feel it didn't age very well with all the gyro controls modern games are using and what have you.
I already have the fighters pass pre purchased alongside the game, I just want more smash in my blood regardless of who's making it. It's healthy for my nutrition.
I assume the outfit was made for a tamer ESRB rating for Ultimate. Nevertheless that's a pretty nice outfit for Mythra, I'll be getting it once I have an excuse to go back to a game that I absolutely destroyed this year (350 hours and still counting).
The Character Specials page looks akin to the one found in the Melee manual, fond memories of reading through that as a child. I kinda miss physical manuals, but at the same time I'm fine with their exclusion.
Rather unfortunate, but I'm still glad we have two of the most iconic ones from FF7. Still, would be awesome to have One-Winged Angel playing on Midgar.
I'm defintely keeping an eye on Save Me Mr. Tako (and Gal Metal), I'll be sure to grab it as soon as I'm done with Dark Souls. The Iron Golem is kicking my butt.
Edit: Also I wanna add that I did play Guacamelee as a free Discord Nitro game on PC. Excellent Metroidvania, happy it's in the top 3 despite being a port.
@Bolt_Strike Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that iteration of Pichu. Somehow I got mixed up with the one from the TV Special, but this is a great inclusion nonetheless.
Absolutely love the Team Aqua and Team Skull bandanas for Pichu. Although I can't figure out Pichu's 6th alt, nothing much changed other than its left ear having more fluff. The reference must've went over my head, is it the Pikachu and Pichu TV Special?
Incineroar is a Fire/Dark mon though, but I can understand why someone would think it is otherwise (considering it is based on pro wrestlers and it's moveset plays around that trope).
That being said, the direct pretty much covered everything I needed, although there was no need to get into details about the options and preferences and whatnot. Looking forward to December, I already have it pre purchased on the eShop with the season pass.
Unfortunately I wasn't even around when that came out, but I have fond memories of that on the Wii Virtual Console with my brother. Maybe it's time to put that Nintendo Switch Online to use for once and pop that game up.
Probably my third favorite NES game, beaten only by Mega Man 2 and 5.

@Moroboshi876 lmao, as someone with terrible eyes, the hud didn't irk me as much, but I can see where they're coming from.

Oh man, I used to collect a lot of those back in the day. I've known about the unused card but it's nice seeing it in an official format.
KIU still remains one of my favorite games, but it certainly demands a makeover to its controls (gyroscope anyone?).
