Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Says He Prefers To Buy Video Games Digitally

papahefe

i'm entirely digital, on both my Switch and my Series X. i like having everything tied to my account, all in one place. i like browsing the digital store fronts and not having to go to the store or worry about stock, etc.

but the biggest reason? i'm an idiot, and trade/sell physical games when i'm done with them or need extra cash. so if i buy them digitally, i literally can't get rid of them. so my collection, altho it's digital, is persistent, and does not get smaller due to my impulsiveness or brokeness.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel #87 - Metroid: Zero Mission

Both are cool, but I love the NA version. The cool blue/purple palette at the top leading down to the firey red/orange palette on the bottom half is an interesting contrast. It's got more going on than the JP version, in a good way imo. The chozo statues in the backgroud is an added bonus.

Re: Poll: What's The Best 3D Mario Game?

I definitely put Super Mario 64 above the rest, but Galaxy 1 and Odyssey are insanely close behind it. On any given day, I could be persuaded to think any one of those 3 are the best of the bunch.

Sunshine is great, 3D World is great, but the rest are definitely lower for me. Especially Galaxy 2, I actually can't believe some of the backlash I've seen about it's exclusion. It felt hollow to me, just a collection of levels, very unlike the first Galaxy. Eh, to each their own.

Re: Switch's NES And SNES Games Will No Longer Be Added Monthly

papahefe

well, this is definitely a negative. xbox live and playstation plus both add games monthly, the former adding 4, the later now adding 2. 2 games a month as a perk for your subscription fee is now the baseline, and nintendo was following suit with the nes portion for a year now. now, with the addition of snes, which got everyone excited and optimistic, they decide to drop that minimum 2 games per month commitment entirely?

this can only mean 1 of 2 things in my mind: either they are unable to secure enough licenses via third parties to properly fill out their online catalog due to those publishers opting to release their own collections instead, or the online service isn't generating enough revenue as they'd hoped, and instead of adding value to entice more people to join, they are scaling back to only offer the bare minimum.

bummer.

Re: Two More NES Games Join The Nintendo Switch Online Service In August

papahefe

man what i wouldn't do for snes games to hit this service. i accept virtual console is dead, fine, so be it. but why is THIS the only 'replacement'? this thing is going full handheld with the lite, let's get some gameboy advance games on this thing! snes, n64, etc. the well runs sooooooo deep and they are drawing from the most shallow depths possible.

come. on.
