Re: Fire Emblem If Changes The Traditional Weapons Triangle

ollietaro

I'm going to get all three campaigns first, and then complain lol. The positives to If... are: 1. It's not a direct sequel to Awakening; 2. There's a difficult version for longtime fans; 3. The visuals already surpass Awakening; 4.The campaign looks like it's triple the size of Awakening; and 5. We haven't even learned of what DLC we can expect and if Awakening was any indication, it could be a substantial amount.

@thehoppypoppy No. No grinding spots, please. Choosing a way to progress and then sticking with it (like in Fire Emblem GBA) was best. Grinding absolutely killed the experience for me b/c once I did enough, I couldn't lose and the challenge was lost. That's one of the reasons I faulted The Sacred Stones.

Re: Famitsu Reveals Some Fresh Details on Fire Emblem If

@AVahne I guess it's just up to us fans whether or not we'll stick with the series through these new iterations. It does sound like they're trying to acknowledge us through the higher difficulty of the black version but I'm certain I will purchase all three campaigns regardless. FE If... does sound like a better deal than Awakening was. I have all of the FE games, either legit copies or through emulator and I haven't finished any of them except FE 12 so I still have options for a long time.

Re: Famitsu Reveals Some Fresh Details on Fire Emblem If

Awakening nerfed the series. Period. However, it served its purpose of keeping the Fire Emblem brand alive. But then again, if we get more games like Awakening, maybe the series SHOULD end. Obviously the more difficult campaign interests me but I'll likely fold and buy both (all three, actually). It's obvious they are trying to please everyone with this release. We'll see how it fairs. I'm all in favour of a remastering of the old titles. Radiant Dawn and Holy War for me.

Re: Fashionable Japanese 3DS Owners Can Strut Their Stuff In Nico ☆ Petit Girls Runway This Winter

ollietaro

The eshop/retail Girls Fashion Shoot 3DS game was originally named Nicola Kanshuu: Model * Oshare Audition 2 in Japanese. There is probably a connection between that game and the full-blown Nicola magazine. However, Girls Fashion Shoot was developed by Alchemist and this newly announced Nico Petit Girls Runway is developed by Happinet so I'm not sure if both games relate to each other in any way other than being from the Nicola brand. Being that it features actual Japanese brands, I doubt Nico Petit 3DS will make its way outside Japan. But there's still the option for a Girls Fashion Shoot 2 (Rising Star Games, I'm looking in your direction!) plus we better get Style Savvy 3, or else.

Re: Stella Glow Developer Imageepoch Has Gone Bust

It looks pretty and definitely right up my alley. Atlus' high launch prices tend to decline quickly. The Persona Q Premium Ed. was $90 when it came out and now it's $50, the same price as the standard one. Also, the first Devil Survivor 3DS remake has gone on sale for $14.99 in the eshop several times so I imagine it will be the same for Devil Survivor 2 in time. SMT4 also went on sale for 14.99 and its launch price was 49.99. If you're patient, you can get good prices on these games.

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate's May DLC Brings Metroid, Mega Man and Street Fighter Madness

ollietaro

This DLC pack is absolutely fabulous. It's free and it's functional (Metroid arm cannon as a bowgun!!) and it's good-looking to boot. No complaints whatsoever. In PS Vita games you have to pay for DLC costumes which saddens me for the fans b/c I know they will pay for them I didn't think the Japanese-only property DLC like USJ and Taiko would make it here as some promotional DLC weapons and armor did not make the cut for 3 Ultimate in English. I've completely fallen in love with the Charge Blade and that Starlight Axe Charge Blade looks gorgeous and I only have to fight a beefed up Zamtrios to get it. I wonder if it's a G-rank Zamtrios... :S I'm not there yet!

Re: Fire Emblem If Box Art Confirms amiibo Support and 15 Years and Up Age Rating

ollietaro

This all sounds weird for Japanese gamers but I will wait to see exactly what they do for NA-ers. Don't care about amiibo but a third content dlc interests me. I don't know how big each version of "If..." is but it seems to me that if we buy one retail, then we should receive a free code to dl the other and then of course charge us for the third episode dlc. Buying two FE games on the same day at 44.99 each here in Canada is a definite no-no. No way am I spending $100 all at once just b/c I am a fan.

Re: Style Savvy Sequel Lets You Accessorize With Your amiibo Figures

ollietaro

This needs to happen!! Localise it!! This game series is, by far, the most legit fashion gaming experience around. The Imagine Fashion series is getting better but it still doesn't compare to Style Savvy. No game features such stylish clothes. I have both the DS and 3DS iterations and this one will be the best yet. They just have to release it here!!! Oh yeah, and b/c every guy who plays Style Savvy reveals their gender for some reason, I'm a guy who plays Style Savvy!! Don't be afraid...succumb to your feminine side. Muhuhahahha!!! LOL

Re: Feature: Why We're Still Playing... Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate After Dozens of Hours

ollietaro

I agree there's a ridiculous quality to it and I love playing deadly buckaroo!! LOL Mounting is weird but strangely feels right and so much fun. I sunk over 1000 hours into MH3U. That game captivated me like a true love and I completed all of the quests solo, including the G-rank double-monster arena quests. I still had trouble with Gypceros and Yian Kut-Ku in low rank which means there's always progress to be made. This is no casual experience. I read guides, I research; this is not the sort of game I would take lightly and it's more fun and purposeful because of it.

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Continues to Dominate in Japan as New Nintendo 3DS Leads Hardware Sales

ollietaro

@Blast RPGs only make a big difference to Japanese gamers, I think we can agree. The Nintendo DS had a lot of RPGs but I think a lot of them were one-offs, save for Etrian Odyssey which made the jump to 3DS. For some reason, RPGs number only a few for 3DS. I think that, for some reason, it was a lot easier for companies to release games for Nintendo DS, but it became a flood of games and since it was so heavily pirated, they strayed away from Nintendo systems because they are easier to hack than Sony's.

Re: Feature: Working 9 to 5 in a Fantasy Life - Week Six: Alchemist

ollietaro

All you commenters are making it hard for me to resist paying $50 for this game. You couldn't just talk trash about it so I wouldn't get so hyped for it and be able to wait for it to go on sale for 29.99 LOL! This is such a charming looking/sounding game! Also, the alchemist part is basically a simplified version of the Atelier series, am I right?!!

Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy States a Case for December

ollietaro

Am I the only one who sees no difference between the versions in the photos? I see the text is in a different font and I imagine the image will be in 3D but nothing is redrawn which is a letdown. Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright has such high production values that this trilogy will pale in comparison.
