Underappreciated? It has never gone on sale and sold out to the point that they are only selling UAEmirates import copies in my major Canadian city. If there was a limited run of copies or not, it must have done very well.
Not one Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, nor Style Savvy title in that list. I'm out. Although it may be NL's list, it is not mine but I can't disagree with the selections. It is kind of surprising that both FE: Fates and FE Echoes are not there. No RE Revelations nor Super Street Fighter IV either :-S
I would like it if both the Saturn and Dreamcast came in one machine. I want it all and I don't want to buy two systems. Each had its own small audience so why not combine the two into a Dreamcast/Saturn combo?
I clicked on this b/c Vector Unit developed the sequel to Hydro Thunder, a boat racing arcade game I remember playing with my older bro when he took me to arcades as a kid. If Riptide is anything like how I remembered Hydro Thunder to be, then it is definitely on my radar for when I buy or win myself a Switch.
@YANDMAN So Switch games run at 720p in handheld mode just to conserve battery life? And switches to 1080p in docked mode b/c it's plugged in? But then how do you explain the improvement to framerate when it is docked? Is framerate compromised for battery life in handheld mode as well?
@YANDMAN Doesn't the dock already offer more power? That's why the system offers improved framerates and an upgrade to 1080p for games when docked. I'm sayin' they could soup up the handheld portion as well.
So Nintendo is a super saver of money and has the slow-and-steady-wins-the-race kinda business model. I def def definitely see an upgraded Switch on the horizon, or rather, I want one. Hopefully micro SD cards will go for cheaper in the near future as well.
Firstly, it is always spoken in the order of 1) London, 2) Paris, and 3) Milan. Secondly, there ain't nuffin' haute couture about the clothes in this game. The correct term is: Prêt-à-porter (or ready-to-wear). Thirdly, "...no more dollshouse, no more miniatures..." fails to mention that furniture CAN be collected and rearranged in your shop. Your review essentially says there is no furniture arrangement, which isn't true.
I also have to disagree with your sentiments about the 3D effect in previous games. Fashion Forward featured smooth images which presented jagged edges and half the stereoscopic depth of Trendsetters with the slider up. I ended up playing it with the slider down b/c it was too much of a strain and the game looked better. I'm actually okay with the lack of 3D in this one. I'd rather have smoothed-out images anyways, and Nintendo already prepared me with recent releases having no 3D so I had some time to accept it. I know of one other person who wasn't a big fan of collecting colours b/c it essentially devolved into resetting the 3DS date and time to collect 'em all. Same with unlocking make-up kits.
Review is pretty descriptive, otherwise, which is important for a game with this many nuances to the gameplay to help readers understand it's not just a simple girls' game. Girls' Fashion Shoot is. That said, I didn't need any convincing to buy & download this on Xmas Day at a Starbucks (to save bandwidth at home).
Mario Party Top 100 Deluxe for Switch. With classic boards. In a way it's good this one won't outshine Star Rush b/c I can get Star Rush for cheaper and it seems to be the best choice on 3DS.
@TheGameSquid Thanks for the suggestion but I have no intention of buying a Super Nintendo in order to purchase the SD2SNES. I can already play emulators on my Wii but I don't have a TV for it atm. I was hoping for a handheld option to play the Japan-only Fire Emblems (Even tried to get emulation to work on my DS to unsatisfying results ie. none at all LOL).
Hmm, I've always wanted a device to play the Japan-only Fire Emblem games on (translations, of course) and even though they can be played on smartphones, I need buttons!
@Findonovan95 Festival coins serve three functions. 1) Use them to purchase shops from other players in your plaza. 2) They are the currency you use to buy items/services from plaza shops. 3) Your overall total of festival coins, no matter how much you spend, determines the level of your plaza. The higher your plaza's level, the more features available to you.
I have burnt out on MH since I left Generations 50 hours in (clocked 500 hours in 4U and 1000+ in 3U). I would love to buy one for Switch when I get one in two years.
UK gets a physical release and NA gets an eshop-only. It is sooo impractical for me to buy a UK 3DS just to play a physical copy of New Style Boutique 3...Would totally do it if it gets bundled with that sexy cover-plated N3DS that 2 got bundled with...Oh wait! N3DS is out of production! Sexy New 2DS, then? BTW: Demo is in 2D only so game will most likely be the same. I'm not mad at that seeing as how they got famed fantasy manga artist Lily Hoshino to do the character designs! Overall, it looks to be a stylized take on the franchise and I couldn't ask for more
@JaxonH Thank you putting that into perspective! I guess now it doesn't feel like an exciting time to be a 3DS owner the way it felt in 2013-14 what with new releases being 2D only, the 3D effect having lost depth in newer games (save for Samus Returns), and reading comments calling for its death. Of course I want the Switch library to expand b/c it'll be a good selection to choose from for me when I get one down the road so I guess it is an ideal situation right now that support continues for both systems. I read comments for newly-announced 3DS games saying "I want this on Switch!" but do they really want a port of a 3DS game on Switch? Wouldn't a dedicated piece of software be much better?
@renato_racfr The review talked too much about Switch vs. N3DS when really, as a New 3DS owner (without a Switch) I don't care which the better version is. All that comparison business is useless and unhelpful for me. The review is essentially Switch promotion and nothing more. Systems have longer life spans in Japan but here people want the 3DS dead. Not me!
This DLC looks pretty slim. I expected a broad range of characters from across the franchise. More characters from the same games already being featured. Tecmo was like, "We're just going to cover three games in the series, that's it." Warriors games go on sale all of the time on Playstation but Warriors Chronicles 3 might have gone on sale once, if that, since its release. And DLC never goes on sale for Nintendo games. If anything, this DLC is saving me money since it's offering characters I don't care for.
@Angelic_Lapras_King I would love for Ace Attorney to continue on Switch b/c I plan on getting one down the line. No doubt Capcom will release an HD collection for Switch as they are already starting to remaster old games starting with Resident Evil Revelations. They might even include all of the games, including never-before-seen Investigations 2 making its English debut. Ace Attorney has been on smart devices for a while and if that is where they decide to localise Great Ace Attorney, then that is where I'll play it.
@Angelic_Lapras_King Ace Attorney flourished in the Touch Generations (the touch- and dual-screened handhelds) so while I wish the series to continue on, there hasn't been any continuation of touch generation games yet on Switch. Perhaps, like Layton, it will continue on smart devices.
Please release this in North America! Style Savvy has always been an insta-buy for me. A new Style Boutique was totally unexpected but it was a pleasant surprise. It would be sad if it was EU-only (but happy for them lol). I still have to collect all of the colours in Fashion Forward. I am missing a handful. I also don't think I unlocked all of the brands yet (ugh sportswear lol). I applaud the return of menswear in the storyline. What I didn't like about Fashion Forward was that every single customer wanted clothing from the very theme of the fashion show that you chose. I would have appreciated more variety in customer requests. They seem to be adding more characterization but that's not what the games needed. They needed solidification of the gameplay systems which took a hit in Fashion Forward.
I am intensely on the lookout for reviews of the game even though I realize it's coming in the mail (the post) regardless. One thing I've noticed: Both 3DS titles MercurySteam developed seem more combat-focused than previous entries in their respective series'. It will be interesting to see how exploration is handled. I bought the first three Metroid games from 3DS eshop just to experience it.
The enemy hordes look like they're being blown away in...organized geometric sections? I'm sure that, in real life, troops don't fly away in such neat patterns. Fire Emblem Fates Warriors releases October 20th.
@PanurgeJr Yours is a good, clear explanation of the situation. Could it be the "bad season" was the Wii U and that's why ppl don't want to hear any more poo-pooing of Nintendo systems?
God forbid the Switch gets criticized! It is an all-perfect machine being handled perfectly by the company that makes it. Torches for all who criticize the Switch for that must mean they are also criticizing us!
I like walking around the city with my friend who plays this and myself (whose played all handheld mainline games and not this). He usually asks me what types are effective against such-and-such. I find it unique that we each have different approaches to Pokemon. It's the game that convinced my friend to purchase a portable charger for his long walks and convinced me to pick up my 3DS

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Compares Monster Hunter XX on Switch and 3DS
Seems a likely localization as most Switch games are ports and indies right now.
Re: Video: See the Big Difference Between Monster Hunter XX on Switch and 3DS
There was a small lizard walking by the hunter at one point in the vid whose choppy movement stood out more on the Switch.
Plus, I want to see the new (old) areas they added. Desert, Jungle and Ruined Ridge. Plus, the inclusion of G* quests!
