Re: Feature: Memorable Games of 2017 - Ever Oasis

Underappreciated? It has never gone on sale and sold out to the point that they are only selling UAEmirates import copies in my major Canadian city. If there was a limited run of copies or not, it must have done very well.

Re: Review: Riptide GP: Renegade (Switch eShop)

I clicked on this b/c Vector Unit developed the sequel to Hydro Thunder, a boat racing arcade game I remember playing with my older bro when he took me to arcades as a kid. If Riptide is anything like how I remembered Hydro Thunder to be, then it is definitely on my radar for when I buy or win myself a Switch.

Re: Review: Nintendo Presents: New Style Boutique 3 - Styling Star (3DS)

Firstly, it is always spoken in the order of 1) London, 2) Paris, and 3) Milan. Secondly, there ain't nuffin' haute couture about the clothes in this game. The correct term is: Prêt-à-porter (or ready-to-wear). Thirdly, "...no more dollshouse, no more miniatures..." fails to mention that furniture CAN be collected and rearranged in your shop. Your review essentially says there is no furniture arrangement, which isn't true.

I also have to disagree with your sentiments about the 3D effect in previous games. Fashion Forward featured smooth images which presented jagged edges and half the stereoscopic depth of Trendsetters with the slider up. I ended up playing it with the slider down b/c it was too much of a strain and the game looked better. I'm actually okay with the lack of 3D in this one. I'd rather have smoothed-out images anyways, and Nintendo already prepared me with recent releases having no 3D so I had some time to accept it. I know of one other person who wasn't a big fan of collecting colours b/c it essentially devolved into resetting the 3DS date and time to collect 'em all. Same with unlocking make-up kits.

Review is pretty descriptive, otherwise, which is important for a game with this many nuances to the gameplay to help readers understand it's not just a simple girls' game. Girls' Fashion Shoot is. That said, I didn't need any convincing to buy & download this on Xmas Day at a Starbucks (to save bandwidth at home).

Re: GameShell Looks Like A Game Boy, But Offers So Much More

@TheGameSquid Thanks for the suggestion but I have no intention of buying a Super Nintendo in order to purchase the SD2SNES. I can already play emulators on my Wii but I don't have a TV for it atm. I was hoping for a handheld option to play the Japan-only Fire Emblems (Even tried to get emulation to work on my DS to unsatisfying results ie. none at all LOL).

@Findonovan95 Festival coins serve three functions. 1) Use them to purchase shops from other players in your plaza. 2) They are the currency you use to buy items/services from plaza shops. 3) Your overall total of festival coins, no matter how much you spend, determines the level of your plaza. The higher your plaza's level, the more features available to you.

Re: Style Savvy: Styling Star Will Be a Festive Release in North America

ollietaro

UK gets a physical release and NA gets an eshop-only. It is sooo impractical for me to buy a UK 3DS just to play a physical copy of New Style Boutique 3...Would totally do it if it gets bundled with that sexy cover-plated N3DS that 2 got bundled with...Oh wait! N3DS is out of production! Sexy New 2DS, then? BTW: Demo is in 2D only so game will most likely be the same. I'm not mad at that seeing as how they got famed fantasy manga artist Lily Hoshino to do the character designs! Overall, it looks to be a stylized take on the franchise and I couldn't ask for more

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Warriors (New 3DS)

ollietaro

@JaxonH Thank you putting that into perspective! I guess now it doesn't feel like an exciting time to be a 3DS owner the way it felt in 2013-14 what with new releases being 2D only, the 3D effect having lost depth in newer games (save for Samus Returns), and reading comments calling for its death. Of course I want the Switch library to expand b/c it'll be a good selection to choose from for me when I get one down the road so I guess it is an ideal situation right now that support continues for both systems. I read comments for newly-announced 3DS games saying "I want this on Switch!" but do they really want a port of a 3DS game on Switch? Wouldn't a dedicated piece of software be much better?

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Warriors (New 3DS)

ollietaro

@renato_racfr The review talked too much about Switch vs. N3DS when really, as a New 3DS owner (without a Switch) I don't care which the better version is. All that comparison business is useless and unhelpful for me. The review is essentially Switch promotion and nothing more. Systems have longer life spans in Japan but here people want the 3DS dead. Not me!

Re: Fire Emblem Warriors Season Pass DLC Will Include Plenty of Familiar Faces

ollietaro

This DLC looks pretty slim. I expected a broad range of characters from across the franchise. More characters from the same games already being featured. Tecmo was like, "We're just going to cover three games in the series, that's it." Warriors games go on sale all of the time on Playstation but Warriors Chronicles 3 might have gone on sale once, if that, since its release. And DLC never goes on sale for Nintendo games. If anything, this DLC is saving me money since it's offering characters I don't care for.

Re: New Story Trailer For Apollo Justice On 3DS Reveals Release Dates For North America & Europe

@Angelic_Lapras_King I would love for Ace Attorney to continue on Switch b/c I plan on getting one down the line. No doubt Capcom will release an HD collection for Switch as they are already starting to remaster old games starting with Resident Evil Revelations. They might even include all of the games, including never-before-seen Investigations 2 making its English debut. Ace Attorney has been on smart devices for a while and if that is where they decide to localise Great Ace Attorney, then that is where I'll play it.

Re: Calling All Budding Fashionistas; New Style Boutique 3 Gets Trendy New Details

ollietaro

Please release this in North America! Style Savvy has always been an insta-buy for me. A new Style Boutique was totally unexpected but it was a pleasant surprise. It would be sad if it was EU-only (but happy for them lol). I still have to collect all of the colours in Fashion Forward. I am missing a handful. I also don't think I unlocked all of the brands yet (ugh sportswear lol). I applaud the return of menswear in the storyline. What I didn't like about Fashion Forward was that every single customer wanted clothing from the very theme of the fashion show that you chose. I would have appreciated more variety in customer requests. They seem to be adding more characterization but that's not what the games needed. They needed solidification of the gameplay systems which took a hit in Fashion Forward.

Re: Nintendo Made Us A Better Developer, Says Metroid: Samus Returns Studio MercurySteam

ollietaro

I am intensely on the lookout for reviews of the game even though I realize it's coming in the mail (the post) regardless. One thing I've noticed: Both 3DS titles MercurySteam developed seem more combat-focused than previous entries in their respective series'. It will be interesting to see how exploration is handled. I bought the first three Metroid games from 3DS eshop just to experience it.

Re: Niantic CEO Explains Just What Went Wrong At Chicago's Pokémon GO Fest

I like walking around the city with my friend who plays this and myself (whose played all handheld mainline games and not this). He usually asks me what types are effective against such-and-such. I find it unique that we each have different approaches to Pokemon. It's the game that convinced my friend to purchase a portable charger for his long walks and convinced me to pick up my 3DS
