Let the record show that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy has been cleared for a December release on the 3DS eShop, according to Capcom.
The company made its announcement during the "World of Capcom" panel at New York Comic Con. North American truth-seekers can expect the game on 9th December, with a European release two days later on 11th December.
Ace Attorney Trilogy packages the first three games of the series: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations. Each title has received some visual remastering both in art and text, while still retaining all the drama, twists, and eternal [step]ladder debates of the originals.
The entire trilogy is set to sell for $29.99/€29.99/£24.99 on the 3DS eShop. Will you be diving into the files of Phoenix Wright come December?

Aww... I thought the title of the article was a pun about the game getting a case, or a physical release in other words.
Oh well.
Perfect way to start my Friday morning!
Hurrah more release dates!!
No physical copy? I guess it was to be expected from Crapcom. ;__;
I might grab it on sale sometime, but I'm not interested at $30 with no physical copy.
Oh, sorry Capcom, I will be very busy with Captain Toad by that date.
I hope you sell millions and millions of copies though
Cool! I'll buy it when I can after it's available. I still wish they put the trilogy through the Dual Destinies' graphics engine since that looked soooo good! Oh well.
I'm excited!
Glad I don't own any of the DS versions...
Phyooph, I was afraid it was gonna come out this month...
One of these days I have to give Ace Attorney another try. Maybe this is the perfect opportunity, especially since Fantasy Life is the only other 3DS game I'm intending to buy for the rest of the year.
@sinalefa: That will guarantee a sequel, that if it also sells millions will generate another sequel, & so on, & so forth.
@Everyone_Else: $29.99 alone, or plus tax, is too much for a d/l-only game, I feel; Especially considering how Nintendo"s current approach to that issue is.
Unless they are releasing a physical copy as well I wont buy it.
@Capt_N This is a trylogy! Its $10 per game. How is this expensive for a 3ds game?
Right after finals! Yay!
Price is a little steep, but I feel like Capcom might use what this makes to fund translation of the next game, so I'm pretty much obligated to buy it.
@RennanNT: Example: $4.99 on ios, but $29.99 on e-Shop? Also, I already mentioned Nintendo's serious failing in the arena of accounts. The argument could be made that I have spend that, or more on multiple d/ls from the e-Shop, but I just can't see myself d/ling this. Furthermore, I have d/led, & enjoyed the Dual Destinies demo. However, to me, the series seems to me, to lack replayability once you know the plot, & the conflicting statements/stories from the witnesses. Edit: Furthermore, I have a feeling that Capcom could seriously do this physical retail, if they truly wanted to. I imagine they have the bank(or more commonly, enough money in their bank) to do it.
I will be getting these games because I always wanted to play them.
Finally! This and Story of Seasons will be perfect ways of ending this 3DS year.
@Capt_N First of all, iOS is $17. Sure, its cheaper, but thats how things are with mobile, because of a higher user base and that $20 is the limit people will pay for a mobile game.
Its alright if you are afraid of Nintendo's account system or if this game isn't your cup of tea enough to justify the price, but this is not expensive at all in non-mobile game standards.
Regarding replayability, its similar to watching a mystery movie again, so not everyone enjoys play it again (and probably the reason it went download only as trade in must be a much more serious issue for games like this).
Yup, Day 1 for me. Already got rid of my physical DS carts.
This release is all nice and all that, but wtf euro price is the same as the dollar price? Is Capcom on drugs or something? 29.99 USD is 23.60 EUR. NOT 29.99 EUR.
I feel sorry for the UK gamers, that GBP price is 31.73 EUR so it's the most expensive of this ripoff of prices.
And since this is again just a eShop release instead of a physical cart release, all this price fixing makes even less sense.
Crapcom should make Miles Edgeworth duology come out since they denied the second game from the western gamers and never released it here.
I already have them. First Ace Attorney is a Japanese copy (has English as an option), Justice for All is NA copy and Trials and Tribulations is European copy. Might still get the trilogy for 3DS if they have -50% price at some point.
Ridiculously expensive for a download only version of old DS games.
This should be $20 tops, closer to $15.
I'll hold on to my physical copies.
@Kolzig
But US prices exclude taxes, while Euro prices include them. The VAT average in Europe is >20%. Add 20% onto the 23.60 EUR and you end up with 28.32.
I also envy those cheap prices in the US, but that $->€ conversion just doesn't work as the companies need to pay their taxes.
well dual destinies went on sale and i have no money so... i'll wait for the sale and till after i get some wonga
Picked up a cart copy couple of months ago, there's an option to change the entire text to english so surprised it didnt get a physical release tbh.
I want this hopefully I have room on my 3ds.
Obviously disappointed about the eShop only release but I expected nothing else from Capcom in its current guise.
Never played any of these games, still kick myself for not taking up VGP's offer of all 5 physical games (at the time) for like C$80-90 as I was trying to save money that month.
Already got all 3 DS games so not that interested in this cash cow
Give us Revelations 2 and I'll think about it, Capcom.
@Kolzig NOE recommend the following $=€=£0.9. In other words on that metric the UK price should be £27. Convert that to Euros. Complete rip-off. Now you see why I didn't link an NNID and lock myself into the UK eShop. I guess the silver lining is the publishers get more money if you pay more for games...
I guess if there something to be disappointed by it is comparing to Dual Destines. That was £20 in the UK and the US version was $30. Likewise the iOS version of trilogy is cheaper. Why should 3DS version be $12 more? Apple take the same cut as Nintendo. Unless we're saying the DS version music and fixed animations are worth that extra (speaking of which aren't those things easy to patch into the iOS version, especially the music).
I'm interested but not at that price. It's much cheaper on iOS and that's with a proper Account system. I'll wait until it goes on sale.
meep. It took too long for me. Bought the Japanese version.
Oh, I'm so angry that there won't be a physical release. I'm a huge fan of the games, but I already own the DS versions of the games. I share games with my BF and sometimes others, but I would have to buy one for my BF, and one for every friend, if I wanted them to experience it. That sucks.
I've not played the originals, so uI'll probably pick this up at some point. However, price seems a little steep for a digital only game.
Remember folks, if this or the upcoming one, don't sell at least 2 million units, the franchise is toast.
no carts ah man
@lifer Yeah but ones like Smash Bros 3DS where 1$=£1 (Even without the tax) are particularly bad. Fair would be £30 Not £40 which is the eshop price. Even fairer would be £30 - the retailers cut. (Same as what they get from selling a physical copy but taking into account that it cannot be resold etc).
@DASchenk Has Ultra Streetfighter IV even done 2,000,000 units ? Not sure it necessarily applies to stuff like this.
I feel it's so important that CAPCOM keep all future Ace Attorney games with a digital only release. Would be nice to see a special physical release with extras for real fans. Great price compared with second-hand DS originals and worth every penny.
Well I a glad for the release date. Gives me time to play Pokemon and Persona Q.
capcom actually doesnt have that much money so that'd be why they did no physical copies of this.
Ultra Street Fighter IV is just DLC to an existing game. Its not the same as a new game.
@unrandomsam Its just that Capcom has announced that they won't continue franchises that sell less. so no more darkstalkers for instance
This is not that expensive, people need to chill. This is three games which are easily worth £10 each. If you are comparing it to ios price, you may need to consider whether that was the original release price or a later discounted one. Capcom also regularly has sales on the eshop so if you waited you could probably get this for around £16/$20
Am I the only one who sees no difference between the versions in the photos? I see the text is in a different font and I imagine the image will be in 3D but nothing is redrawn which is a letdown. Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright has such high production values that this trilogy will pale in comparison.
