Re: Soapbox: Breath Of The Wild Is Amazing, But Is It The 3D Zelda That Enthusiasts Expected?

linforcer

As someone who never needed their games to be open world, I got the worst of both worlds. I was missing basically everything you mentioned (not complaining about the music though) and got nothing I liked in return. I didn't play past the first beast and I wish I hadn't bought it at all.

EDIT: I do want to add that those who say "this is a return to the original spirit of Zelda" are 100% right. I didn't like the original Zelda all that much either

Re: Capcom Is Bringing Monster Hunter XX to the Switch

linforcer

Wow, the timing of this announcement is so crazy. I have been telling my wife for months that if they confirm a Monster Hunter for the Switch I will buy a switch. Then LITERALLY two days ago I was like "Meh, I have the money to build a new gaming PC, let's order the parts" Now I won't be affording a switch until winter (I work in tourism and there is very little work here in Summer)

Re: Talking Point: Considering the Paid Online Service for the Nintendo Switch

linforcer

Since I had always been a pc gamer before I became a console gamer one of the main reasons I chose a Nintendo console was the free online services. Now that all of the major consoles charge for online services, I guess I'll be getting a proper gaming pc again. the 300€ that the switch would cost will be a good start, and I probably only have to spend another 100 - 200 to get a proper system, especially since I already have a great projector, so I don't need to buy a screen or anything, and my wii U pro controller work fine as controllers for the PC as well.

Re: Gallery: Gawk At 3DS Screens for Zero Time Dilemma

The graphics are about what I expected, not amazing, but I'll deal, as I am very much a fan of this story. I wonder if it'll have that weird thing again where the 3d models are just flat on the 3d screen but still in front of everything else... that was weird.

Also, it's hard to tell but it looks like we're doing the grey thing again... I liked the way 999 had this stark contrast between the dark things going on with the rather festive surroundings, that I missed in VLR

Re: Chromophore: The Two Brothers Faces Another Delay

I'll say what I said last time: The PC version was so buggy it would break all the time for no reason so I never made it further than 20 minutes in. If the Wii U port is playable (which it would presumably have to be to pass certification) I will definitely be picking it up.

Re: Nintendo Targets and Blocks Mario Kart Hack Videos From YouTube

linforcer

Aside from the fact that all of this is dumb, there is also no legal basis for it. That is not to say the take-downs are illegal, because YouTube can decide to take down whatever they want and they don't need a reason, but it's important to note that there is no reason these videos would be Nintendo's copyright, meaning YouTube is just arbitrarily (or more likely monetarily) siding with Nintendo on these.

Re: Poll: Nintendo's Free-to-Play Experiments - Are You Still Playing?

linforcer

I resent the tagline "We might as well get used to it."
What we might do is vote with our [UNIT OF CURRENCY]s, whether you like this pricing model or not.

All that said, the fact that the Wii U selection is so small, and that more and more microtransactions and paid DLC are making it into my 3DS games means I probably won't be buying any more consoles after this (not just from nintendo, but at all)

All the games I've enjoyed more than anything these past couple of years (Stanley Parable, Papers Please, Undertale, Keep talking and nobody explodes, Lovers in a dangerous spacetime, her story) have come out on PC only, or PC first. My next investment will be in a proper-ish rig, some good wireless controllers and a projector.

Re: Review: Typoman (Wii U eShop)

linforcer

When I heard about this game I was looking forward to something that would require me to think and not do much else. I was very interested, but I am so very done with 2D platforming, and if I DID want to play some 2D platforming, there's a boatload of megaman games I haven't played, and I haven't gotten very far in Shovelknight either, so I don't see why I'd get this game now, if I have to slog through the platforming to get to the interesting puzzles...

Re: Editorial: Linkle May be a Clunky Introduction For a 'Female Link', But Opens Up Interesting Possibilities

linforcer

I wouldn't mind being able to choose, but I also wouldn't have minded if Link had just turned out female once...actually, I think I would very much like it.

In games like Zelda "Identifying as the hero" has never been that important to me, and even if it were, If this character suddenly had boobs and/or female genitalia it wouldn't create anymore of a dissonance than the fact that he usually has pointy ears, which I also don't have.

Re: Review: Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations (Wii U)

linforcer

Hmm... seems like I have no reason to pay 30€ for this. Length isn't everything in a game but when it's 9 - 10 hours AFTER they've tacked on a bunch of pointless battles, that is too short...

Then there's the fact that it's targeted at a younger audience, but the problem is that my little brother-in-law, who would otherwise be the perfect target audience for this doesn't really speak English.

Re: Yes, Fatal Frame's Lingerie Outfits Have Been Removed From The Western Version

linforcer

If there's anything to be taken from the majority of comments here (and around) it is that it seems like Nintendo is being culturally sensitive here.

While I wouldn't care about ANY of the outfits (original skimpy OR new nintendo-themed) I think Nintendo is making the right call if only because a majority of its western audience thinks this is a better fit.

As for the rating.... er... I'unno
