I had enough gold points to cover this, so I took the leap and basically did a blind pre-order just on the premise that it looks like it is exactly my type of game. Hope it turns out good.
How many f$&kin games are there going to be with the word “knight” in the title? Seems like everyone has their own knight game these days. 🙄
I think the title template '____ Knight' needs to die off. Like, are indie 2D devs just throwing darts at a list of adjectives at this point?
Yep, Shovel Knight clone. Will give this one a miss as it's a blatant copy of a better game
I would buy a game blind if it was called knight knight xx
@Sourcecode You probably weren't around when the Super Nintendo was out. Look at how many games had the word "Super" at the beginning, you'll have a good laugh. (211 games start with Super, to be exact.)
NINJA APPROVED
@JBone Besides Shovel Knight and Hollow Knight, I can't think of anymore, what are the others?
@BloodNinja I was around when the Atari 5200 came out lol. “Super” was just a way of saying “hey this game is for the latest and greatest SNES”. “Knight” on the other hand l... it’s just incredibly annoying how overused it is.
Totally burned out on these super tough 8bit platformers.
Have to admit i thought of a different kind it game when i read the title.
@Sourcecode Right, but in recent memory I can only think of Hollow Knight and Shovel Knight, and when I looked at the "knight" tag on Steam, I only found maybe 8 or 9 other games that used "________ Knight" as the title. So, 211 vs 8 or 9...which one is overused, again?
NINJA APPROVED
@BloodNinja Soul Knight, Bucket Knight, Karma Knight, Aldred Knight, Peasant Knight, Puddle Knight(s)... all within the last couple years
@JBone Yeah, I already established that when I looked at the Steam page, as I said in my post #11 right above yours. I'm saying that "Super" is used in 211 SNES games (I looked at my ROM dump archive, there were 211 games across all regions using Super) and using Knight in 8 or 9 games isn't considered overused in comparison.
Also, nobody is forcing you to play or even acknowledge any games, so why does it even matter to you to begin with?
NINJA APPROVED
@BloodNinja you were replying to someone else so I didn't see your post about the overuse of "Super" (I don't disagree), and your query was for somebody else. It doesn't matter to me in the least, play whatever you want, including however many dozen bisyllabic "Knight" titles are released next quarter.
JBONE EXCUSED
@JBone Hahaha, I love it, exceptional reply. Thank you for the smile and have a great day.
NINJA APPROVED
Is that shield just for show. Doesn’t look like the knight is using it for anything.
Shovel knight! Horned knight, Michael Knight! How many knights do we need?
Shovel knight! Horned knight, Michael Knight! How many damn knights do we need?
Total ripoff.
Sorry about my double post. I was on my phone and it was going haywire.
Looks fun but after suffering a game-breaking glitch in Horace I'm noncommittal to any more tough pixellated platformers.
I think this is basically shamelessly invoking Shovel Knight in its visuals and Cover Art.
If it's good who cares that it kinda looks like another game and is trying to appeal to fans of that game?
@Purgatorium Kinda looks like? LMFAO.
4bit shovel knight rip, no thank you
You'll be fine.
