Re: Video: Do You Own A Video Game So Rare That You Can Never Actually Play It?

jorel262

I don't have anything that would be considered truly rare, not that my small collection is worthless. Nothing I have is sealed unless it's a newer game that I haven't gotten around to opening yet.

I had a Disaster Report on PS2 sealed and sold it since it was worth something. I was never going to play it so why keep it. I think that qualifies as playing games I own if I get rid of ones I have no intention of playing.

I would never send anything to be slabbed and graded though. That's a coffin for some rich investor's bookshelf.

Re: Lawsuit Brought Against Game Grading Firm, WATA, Alleging Market Manipulation

Been following this and related topics for some time. Wish something would have happened sooner but at least we are here now.

I don't think I'll be able to justify the price of a CIB retro game anymore, especially the titles that are in the news like Super Mario on NES, I just wanted a CIB copy mind you, not sealed.

Lots of crappy stuff. Dude from Heritage listing his graded collectibles up for auction, with no intent to sell, just to keep pumping up the value, what a jerk.

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor

As many have said previously Nintendo should probably not try to change too much. Just give us a better Switch with full backwards compatibility for both physical and digital games. Play everything the Switch can now. And maybe work harder on getting better third party support? Not to say there is anything wrong with the Switch now or the games on it at all.

Re: Random: Chrono Cross Director Rereleased Radical Dreamers To Stop Scalpers

As others have said...this article should have used a different word than scalper.

This is not the typical definition of scalping, especially taking into account the high prices scalpers try to sell XBX and PS5 for. I can't go into a Target and by an old video game, unless it's a used game store. Simply put buying at retail and flipping it for profit is scalping.

Releases like this make it cheaper for people that want to play the original but cannot afford to buy it. Klonoa is another good exampled of this.

Re: The Pokémon Company Is Buying The Firm That Makes Its Trading Cards

@Tobiaku Agree with you that "too much" is a relative term. I was focused on what is stated in the article at the end.

"Hopefully this move will at least ensure that Pokémon cards will be more readily available going forwards. Just recently, a man was sentenced to 3 years in prison for spending COVID-19 relief money on a rare Pokémon card."

Re: Talking Point: Is It Ever A Good Idea To Start At 'The Beginning' Of Series Like Zelda Or Dragon Quest?

jorel262

An excellent question. I've been playing games since before the NES. I would have no issue going back and finishing the older games. I have no idea how a more modern gamer would approach older games in a series. It could turn them off to the whole series. But if they play it after playing a more modern game they may have a different view of the franchise and it's roots.
