Just recently Curve Digital confirmed two games that it's bringing to the Switch eShop, including The Flame in the Flood (developed by The Molasses Flood). Pleasingly a press release has now confirmed that it'll arrive next week (12th October), so we'll get a chance to put it to the test.
You can see the Switch trailer and some blurb below.
The Flame In The Flood is a bleak but beautiful rogue-lite set upon a treacherous, procedurally generated river. With the help of your trusty dog, Aesop, The Flame In The Flood tasks you to make the most of your surroundings by foraging, hunting and scavenging your way through nature and the remains of society. With an evocative, homespun art-style and lilting, original soundtrack by Chuck Ragan, survival has never been this enjoyable.
It seems like quite a challenging game based upon comments from those that have played it elsewhere. Not only do you need to stay safe on the river but also make landfall and find vital resources; nature is rather cruel in the process.
Are you planning to venture into 'post-societal America' in this title?

This game looks great.
I'm going to OD on quality indie games.
Too many games to buy!
I've been looking forward to this one, but there are so many good games coming very soon.
Liked this on PS4, NEED it on Switch!
looks interesting
ALL THE GAMES I WANT TO PLAY ARE ON NINTENDO. How have we landed in this alternate universe? (oh, right, the rest of the world is totally effed...)
Who can hate on the switch now?? If you can you truly are a bitter idiot
Switch games are getting better and better with each passing month
Just crazy!
Day 1 purchase! It looks amazing!
Great game. I’m glad it’s coming to Switch.
This game looks awesome!
First I've heard of this game. Looks great but there's too much to play right now. One for the future perhaps.
@Deathwalka Shoot, I'd go so far as to say each passing day!
So it's confirmed that next week will be, like, the fifth week in a row with at least one must-download indie game released on Switch? And isn't Yono releasing next week as well?
I wish I could go back in time and share this with myself during the Wii U days.
Pretty soon you wont need Steam!
My wish list is getting out of hand!
Nice problem to have eh?
Cool concept and it looks good, but this game got pretty mediocre reviews on Steam and Metacritic.
I'll put it on the list, although, honestly, there are so many quality indies coming to Switch in the near-future that it'll be a long time before I get to it.
Money levels low..........money levels critical........food levels low......
.....food levels critical..........
such a great premise and brilliant art style.
Wow this looks like good fun!
Price?
Is this like Don't Starve and those type of games? Well that's what I got from it.
This one is definitely on my radar for games I'll buy at the end of the year..... Because college, and I don't want to fall behind haha
@GraveLordXD while you're not wrong, you're also cherry picking. User reviews across all platforms on Metacritic hasn't eclipsed a 6. Steam reviews over the past 30 days are still collectively classified as "mixed." Adding that to your rosier picture of a 70+% rating is how I arrived at "mediocre."
The trailer actually makes it looks awesome.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE also a port mind you 😂 but a great one nonetheless!
@Reignmaker Based on the review info, it's a game that reviewed differently depending on the platform. So the quality of the Switch version might very well be equal to the quality of the port.
@guamyankee already don't need steam...because you can easily take a switch with you compared to a laptop,
@onex your right man I retract my statement because it really is with each passing day!
Hell I look for switch articles everyday and some new awesome game is coming out.
My biggest wish for switch was for some horror games for 2017 and boy are they going to deliver
Best choice I made march 3rd was purchasing the switch:)
@Donutman
There are some games that still just work better on a laptop if Im being honest. Crusader Kings 2, Panzer Corps, OOTP baseball: these are just a few examples. Hence the reason Im still lugging around my laptop along with the switch.
