Last year we told you about Gunscape, which is a retro-styled FPS in which players can design their own stages on which to do battle. If you think of the building blocks approach of Minecraft, then blend it with the cross-platform sharing and play of Cubemen 2, you'll have an idea of what it has to offer.
It promises much, with the 'world-building' aspect meaning you can create maps for multiplayer battles or even your own campaigns; naturally you can play those created by others too. Online shoot-outs will support 20 players per room, while in local multiplayer up to five players can join in on Wii U - it's eight on Xbox One and four on PS4.
Combine that with the retro style - in which the visuals bring the likes of Doom and Quake II to mind, except with modern aiming - and it's certainly appealing in practice. Developer Blowfish Studio Games was originally targeting a January release, but has now had to push this back; it's actually coming to PS4, Xbox One and Steam in March, but Wii U is down for Q2.
We're still very intrigued to see how this one turns out, though we'll have to wait a little bit longer before we can put it to the test.

When you say "cross-platform" sharing and play, do you mean you can play against ps4 and Xbox one players? That'd be awesome
Cross platform play needs to be a "thing."
Please be good. And please, please, PLEASE support gyro and Wiimote aiming!
I'm not sure if this something I can see myself getting all that excited for. Certainly would prefer it to not have a Minecraft look.
Awesome idea, I'm just extremely tired of seeing the Minecraft graphic style everywhere. They're the most overrated graphics of all time.
Might check it out on PSN in march.
Looks fun may check this out.
Sounds like an amazing idea. Hopefully it's good
Think I'm going to start a list of reasons why NX has to launch sooner rather than later. All of these late ports - see Minecraft Story Mod - and lack of ports - see just about every other multiplat game on PS4 and Xbox One ever made - needs to either go away or be known from day 1. No more Project Cars.
Wii was an SD system, bub it still got more ports of HD PS3 and Xbox 360 than HD Wii U gets of any Sony or MS console, this gen or last. And when it does get the game it's likely to be lacking in some respect.
The problem is, Wii U started w/ games like Mass Effect 3, Batman Armored Ed and Assassins Creed, so it looked like it would b getting the multiplats, and people bought into that. If Wii got them, why not Wii U? We bought the BS EA "unprecedented partnership". And then they all went away. All except Just Dance and the NFC toy games.
But w/ NX I think we'll know from day 1. Once the hardware is revealed we'll know whether or not NX is built upon AMD soc (FYI system on a chip) and could at least potentially get multiplats; or NX is powered by something else, something unique, something Wii U or 3DS backwards compatible, and we'll know for sure, no doubt, it's a Nintendo 1st party indie machine only.
Whichever way they go, hopefully they let us know soon. And if it is a Wii U 2 or 4DS w/o FPS or sports games, hopefully they price it as such, cheaper than the others. Or at least not more. If its a PS4.5 or XboxOnepointFive then they can charge more, if they can show us the games. The complete games. On time. DLC, seasons passes and all. Probably need some type of integrated achievement system, and a way to share in social media. Not just Miivrse, other more widely accepted social media.
I don't care which way they go, as long as they are clear and up front about it, don't pretend it's something it isn't.
@rjejr Actually many didn't buy into those ports, hence why 3rd party support dropped. Of course some of those were old games, some lacked content of the other versions but then the likes Most Wanted had the best versions on Wii U and sold poorly. Quite frankly it's not worth even farting out a cheap port as those still cost more than what they would recoup.
The WIi had a huge consumer base so publishers made the effort to say put the likes of Dead Rising onto Wii...and they didn't really sell. If those didn't sell on the Wii then why on earth would they do the same with a console that will never even remotely have even a quarter of the consumer base that the Wii had?
@hadrian "Actually many didn't buy into those ports, hence why 3rd party support dropped."
I know those ports didn't sell, but the point I was trying to make was that Ntinedo itself was showing off those games at E3, those types of games, they brought EA out on stage for it's "unprecedented partnership". Even though those games sold poorly, there were still probably people who bought the HD Wii U system thinking that the Wii U would continue to get games like COD, Madden and FIFA into the future.
So know, with that knowledge, I'm sure when Nintnedo shows off it's NX hardware and software line-up it will be truer to their plan and what games we can expect. If it looks like PS4/X1 hardware there's a chance NX will get more of those multipats as they will be easier to port. If the hardware is similar to a Wii U w/ the Gamepad sold separatly, then we'll know those games aren't coming back. No surprises this time, it's either the same, or it's different.
@rjejr To be honest if the NX is the rumoured hybrid, then there is no way third party is coming back, unless that was what you meant by the gamepad being sold separately by being the handheld component.
Producing ports to a system, no matter the power or architecture, that requires to be both playable on the main home console and then downscaled to be playable on the go is just going to piss off way too many developers/publishers.

No one has said that games would be required to be playable on both the main home console and the portable console. The way I see it if nintendo really want's third partys back on there console's that they would leave it up to the developers/publishers to make that decision. Also it could just be like the ps4 to ps vita remote play instead of making like to different versions like you are talking about.
Looks cool, but yeah, enough with the minecraft esthetics, even more annoying that minecraft isn't even the first ones to use such visuals.
Depending on the price, it could be cool, but honestly that game will have people play it for 1-2 months on wiiu. Then it'll be barren servers and a sad smell of ghost town.
This game has tons of potential. I'm not into FPS games but that Level Editor has really caught my eye. If you can create your own maps and play capture the flag and have some other cool options like that. I may jump into this one. It sounds good on paper.
Wow, this is Super Doom Maker. Looks tons of fun! Bring it on!
@Zizzy agreed about the overrated graphics. But that level editor sounds like a lot of fun. Especially if you can create then offer up capture the flag and other online shooter options to everyone. I'm not one for FPS games but this one has my my attention.
@firstnesfan I've been screaming this exact sentiment since I signed up on NintendoLife.
Shoutout to Aussie devs Blowfish.
This looks like it will be a blast. I can't wait to play Turok, Quake, and GoldenEye inspired levels!
@Smokingspoon If this game really is cross-platform, then server population shouldn't be an issue since it's all one big collective server across all platforms.
@Comboman77 Are muti console/device servers for video games even a thing?
Expect Facility.
Saw about this game a while back looked intresting so i might get this... still need a External hard drive for the WiiU..
I'll be all over this when its on the Wiiu and I will be trying to recreate goldeneyes levels lol
Cool, it's like modding Wolfenstein 3D but built into the game itself along with multiplayer and modern aiming. Just PLEASE give us Wiimote support or no deal.
@Zizzy In this case, the Minecraft-style graphics (which are actually inspired by Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake in this case) are kind of necessary in order to create a simple enough editor that anyone can use.
Finally! Five player party FPS action! I want this so much!
What the hell happened to this game?
