Calling it frustrating is being kind. Watched the first hour 5 times and just keep switching it off. I'm still clueless. Impenetrable, pretentious, sci-fi gobbledygook.
Adored Shadowrun when I got the import version back in 94. Got really immersed in it. Great mysterious intro, characters, fights and jacking into the (original) Matrix made for a surprisingly fun minigame. I replayed again it recently and found it really hard. Fortunately I was playing on Retroarch with the trusty rewind button and save states. Still a great, challenging game.
Played it again a few months ago in 4K on PC with Dolphin bar. It's very good. Always surprised by the way people talk it down as if no-one liked it on release.. Just about EVERY gaming site ADORED it... Vast majority gave it 95% and above. Controls are great and graphics are cleverly designed to make the most of the Wii's underpowered innards and still look gorgeous. Few annoying niggles... less fights with the imprisoned would've been nice and the tear searching sections are kinda pants. Doubt I'll ever play it again but still a very good game.
Leaked "plans"? You mean mentioned a Zelda series was getting made? That's like someone suggesting Breath of the Wild 2 may be in production... I know.. We better cancel the entire series.
"Rumour has it there might be a Mission Impossible 7".... Tom: "Guys, game over. We've been rumbled. No more Mission Impossible movies!"
@skullivan .. it was as bad as I'm describing. It was pretty buggy anyway but it became UNPLAYABLE as soon as I hit Luna Pools. The frame rate literally ground to a halt. We're talking dipping under 10fps consistently for the next few hours.
My first playthrough of Will of The Wisps (on One X, no less) was completely ruined by the gaming performance at launch. Absolutely shocking state to release a game in. Couldn't believe the incompetence on display. I shoulda just quit but I struggled through to the end. Completely marred what should've/would've probably been my game of the year. God only knows how it would've performed on base Xbox one. I did play it again after the patch was released and it was great but it was too little too late. I'll always remember my first playthrough was an atrocious experience.
Playing through the XBLA remaster just now and its a revelation! The graphical HD update and more importantly the convenience of modern controls make this incredible. Could play it in 4k in Mupen64 but having to finetune it to work with dual sticks was always a pain. Switching back and forth from remaster to the original is like night and day (quite literally, the old version in this rom is far darker than the N64 original). Great that people can experience this now ... deserves to be played and not trapped in licencing hell indefinitely.
Was enjoying this. Went in blind. Just saw the review scores and didn't read reviews.... Then ... I died .... and went back to beginning. ROGUELIKE!!! YEUCH!!! Never ever enjoyed a roguelike. Game deleted.
Weve had 8 pairs of Joycons between my son and I. Zero drift but other faults in EVERY single unit though, and generally with only light usage. The zr/zl buttons not working (ie no sideways table top mode), LEDs not working, frequent intermittent disconecting on one side. They really aren't fit for purpose. That fragile ribbon connection on the flat side of each Joycon is an absolute nightmare.
Decent. Nice pixel art (way too reliant on zooming in repeatedly kills the cutscenes for me - really unnecessary) , charming character but a 10/10? A modern classic up there with Odyssey, Breath, Hollow Knight? Um.... No. Its OK. Sure lots will find it boring and will give up by chapter 5. I've not laughed out loud once and never found it particularly emotional at all. 7/10 seems fair.
@txa1265 Eh? You are aware we're all talking about the brand new "REMAKE" (excuse the oxymoron) here, that just got released YESTERDAY? So your saying the price has dropped on Steam from the £39.99 it cost yesterday and its now £2.39 today. Wow... That's the biggest/quickest price dive in entertainment history.
Downloaded it for PC by nefarious means last night. Started it and thought it looked absolutely fine having had the original on Gamecube. Ran fine, looked good in 4k and 120Hz. Controls were a bit annoying/unresponsive but that can be patched up easily. Defo a different style but still good cartoony visuals. Only played 20 mins but it played like a typical FPS. Game might end up sucking/boring in the long run, but what I played was hardly an unmitigated disaster.
Don't care about the cloud stuff BUT Control is an absolute stinker of a game. I really despised it. Dull wave shooter mixed with a pretentious, irksome, nonsensical, sci fi yarn. Don't regret playing it (on PS NOW ... wouldve been ragin if I had paid £50) but had little interest in going back for the sidequests I missed after making a beeline for the final credits. Dreadful! YEUCH!!
(Re)Playing through a lot of Wii games in 4K just now on my PC with my new DolphinBar. Really is a sight to behold.... Wii games looking and playing better than PS3/360 games. Looks absolutely incredible on my LG CX. Forgot how good it was. Even the motion controls are perfectly executed.
Edit... No Dead Space Extraction in top 50? Defo top 10 for me.
Think I'm the only one but I absolutely hated Control. Glorified wave shooter with contrived, sci-fi gobbledygook story. Really didn't get on with it at all. Yeuch. Didn't help that I got duped into finishing the post credits tidying office scene either. Ggggrrr. Got this on PC after reading lotsa great reviews but not got round to playing it yet. Most sites loved this game. No mention of the M word (metroidvania) in this review either. All the other reviews I've read describe it as a first person metroidvania game... Fave genre so it's the main reason I bought it.
Glad Kazooie got a high rank. Finished it again on Gamepass couple weeks ago. Just as good as I remember. Started Tooie straight after ... nowhere near as good. Overcomplicated interweaving levels, spent hours trying to get one Jiggy, not knowing you can only get it once you visit later levels. Decent list. Great top 10.

Probably my most loathed controller of all time. 3-D rumble. Um... Ya. Another gimmick with zero use outside 1-2 Switch. My son and I have had 8 pairs between us. Everyone of them has the same faults. Sometimes multiple on one joycon. No led lights, can't play sideways in desktop mode, drifting, can't pair joycon together, can only pair one to switch, doesn't pair when attached, repeatedly unpairs itself. Really is the most ill conceived product. Reducing the cost? How does that help. How about an apology and a recall followed by free replacements.
Got a One X at start of lockdown for the sole reason of playing Wisps with Gamepass. Absolutely awful experience. The performance on One X was unacceptable and completely ruined the game for me. Really was a sorry state and should never have been released, deadline or no deadline, until some of the many bugs were fixed. "Dont worry, were working on a fix"??? .... what??? ... AGAIN??? Did you not learn your lesson from the Xbox release?? Played through it again last week on One X and it plays great now, but too little too late. My first playthrough of what wouldve probably been my fave game of the year was marred by shocking incompetence.
"Stability issues caused frequent crashes and softlocks"... this kinda thing completely ruined my first playthrough of the game on Xbox One X. Honestly would have gave it 4/10 ... and thats if i was feeling charitable. Really was released in the most appalling state. Replayed the fully patched version last week and it truly is a wonderful game. I didnt mind the Spirit Trials ... The Fight Shrines were way too easy though and completed most of the races on my 3rd or 4th attempt. Hard to play the Switch version after playing it in 4K on One X. Far more pixely and jaggy on Switch. Still, if Switch is your only way to play it, its a must have.
What a nice little surprise. Bought a One X at start of lock down for the sole reason of playing Wisps on Gamepass. What a let down .... Performance issues, crashes, permanent (really bad) frame rate dips really ruined the game for me. Was a shocking condition to release a game in. Just played through it again after patch releases and it's an absolute stunner. Hope the Switch version runs smoothly.
Edit ... Takes 2:10 just to load the title screen. Looks nice enough ... really notice the lower def and jaggy/pixely edges on 4K TV compared to One X version though. Looks nicer in handheld mode. Running smoothly so far. Looks like a great job.
Just finished it. Took my time, about 3 hours, and found lots. Doubt i'd go back to it again. Enjoyed it ... 7.5/10. Not sure why its a "LANDMARK" game. Its certainly a decent and amusing way to while away an afternoon. Was fun and didn't overstay its welcome but certainly didn't feel like something particularily special to me.
Super Metroid is easily no1. Its odd as its a game I couldnt get into when I had it on Snes so its the only one on this list im not looking at with rose tinted specs. Started it umpteen times and always thought, "is this it??", put the controller down and couldnt see what all the fuss was about. Then got it on Wii Virtual Console in 2009 and forced myself to play through it once and for all. Stunning. In my top 5 games EVER. . . Might even be no 1!! Play through it once every year.
Always find it strange that teams waste time/resources to release games well after they are originally released (to some very mixed/poor reviews) on other consoles, without doing anything to fix the initial criticisms they received. What are they expecting ?... releasing a game that was dodgy on One X and now porting it over to Switch ... do they think theyre suddenly gonna get rave reviews when it was received so poorly before?
Took me ages to get into this. Kept starting n restarting. Finally stuck with it and it really is incredible. Cant imagine playing it on a flatscreen. In VR theres massive brutes hulking over you. Really is tense and scary.
HUNDREDS of games, squished into ONE page, listed in no particular order, with an interface that chugs every two rows of scrolling! Who came up with this??? They could at least list games by the same dev, like the Steamworld ones, together. Then, theres the fact that some of the time, you can't even see the name of the game on the list as theres a 75% off sticker or metacritic score over the title or the writing is microscopic! The competition are just so far ahead of Nintendo with their sales and subscription services. Not to mention the fact that their sales prices cant keep up either. God of War was released over a year after Breath ... u can get it for £8.99 in a PS sale - the max you'll pay for it is £15. For the people that own the big 3 consoles, Eshop sale is the last place i'd go.
Joycons are completely overpriced and arent fit for purpose. Ive bought 5 pairs between my son and I's two Switches.... EVERY Joy Con ive had has an sl/sr fault and green LED failure meaning you cant connect them sideways for table top mode. There ain't much point in creating the world's most advanced controller if they are so fragile that features are broken with light use.
Heaven Dust is right up there for me. Its a bit like Resident evil in the graphical style of Sexy Brutale. Really loved it. Quenched my survival horror thirst til Resi 3 arrives.
Always disappointed when games like this get rotten reviews. Used to adore Super Sprint ... surely it must be pretty easy to make GOOD games in this style.
Fifa puzzles me. Bought them all from '12 to '18 but cant say the incremental changes they make are actually improvements. Only one I play now is Fifa 15 which has the best balance of arcade/simulation for me. 18 seemed to have players plodding along at a snail's pace (in mud) and long/finesse shots seemed to be impossible.
Not the drift thats the problem for me. Ive had 8 joy-cons ... EVERY ONE ended up with SL/SR not working and no green LEDs, meaning you cant connect them for tabletop mode. Seems to be the same ribbon cable fault over and over.
Really enjoying this but some little frustrations in the gameplay. Aiming when throwing isn't always consistent and sometimes a projectile just doesn't stick to what its supposed to. Then theres the really irritating platforming ... jumping from one ball to another shouldn't be this irksome. The graphics are gorgeous and plays great BUT the bokeh effect was a bit close and hurt my eyes a bit. Your character must be awfully short sighted. Started off thinking it was gonna be a kinda Metroidvania ... my hopes were dashed as quickly I realised there was only 2 (ledge hang doesnt count!!) powers. Really like the arcade but that Bomb Jack rip-off controls terribly. Would be much better with the buttons for left n right ... you need to push up to jump high but there doesn't seem to be a sweet spot in the middle making jumping straight up virtually impossible. These are all minor quibbles though. Great game and no problem with the price.
Edit ... okay, was wrong bout Bomb Jack controls. Too used to playing the original Bomb Jack where you have to push up to go higher. This one controls great.
Lots said it but I never, ever thought this was too long. One of the very best horror games you could play. Envious of those experiencing it for the first time.
@sketchturner When you have no quality control, u obviously know a games is a broken mess, release it anyway, do nothing to fix it, release the same broken mess 4 months later on another system!!! If "they failed to iron out the flaws, "DON'T RERELEASE IT ON ANOTHER SYSTEM!!! Its called integrity, its the EASIEST thing to maintain and almost impossible to recover once you've lost it! Its perfectly fair to be disgusted by abhorrent, cynical practices ... whats not fair is little Timmy, waking up on Christmas day with the single game his parents could afford ... and getting stuck with this trash coz his Mum thought it looked good. Games like this that are universally maligned should come with a warning sticker!
I never understand the point in rereleasing unchanged, universally detested games months after they're released on other platforms . . . They hated your game first time round ... they hate it even more now. Stop wasting your time you seriously untalented devs ... I don't usually make it personal but it really is cynical knowing you've created a real turkey and continue selling it (without even trying to improve it) to kids and unsuspecting, naive parents who may barely have enough cash for 1-2 games a year.
@GAMER1984dude Eh?... youve already emailed Nintendo? Fill your boots mate. Pretty sure Ninty had heard of before Nintendo Life ... its been reported on dozens of sites. Your such a bastion of videogame morality.
Playing this on Switch just now. Pretty widely available already. Same with anything shared online. . . once the genie is out the bottle, thats it. Any cease and desist after that is futile. AM2R was "taken down".. yet its still easily available on multiple sites. NSML is really floaty which is just like the original. I'll prob see this one through till the end.
@electrolite77 Much obliged again. "UR" (ie, your) inability to understand is hardly surprising, given the fact "U" (ie, you) dont even know what "QUOTATION MARKS" are and the correct rules regarding their usage. Back to the textbooks with "U" (ie, you) ma (ie, my) boy. Touch up on ur grammar b4 (before) humiliating yourself again.

Re: Introducing The 64Mate, A New All-In-One N64 Storage Add-On "Launching Soon" On Kickstarter

Re: Review: Alien: Isolation - One Of The Greatest Horror Games Of All Time Comes To Switch
Lots said it but I never, ever thought this was too long. One of the very best horror games you could play. Envious of those experiencing it for the first time.
Re: Review: Decay Of Logos - An Epic Mess Of A Game, Despite The Lengthy Delay On Switch
@sketchturner
When you have no quality control, u obviously know a games is a broken mess, release it anyway, do nothing to fix it, release the same broken mess 4 months later on another system!!!
Re: Review: Decay Of Logos - An Epic Mess Of A Game, Despite The Lengthy Delay On Switch
Re: Feature: The Story Behind New Super Mario Land, The Homebrew Marvel Intended As A Christmas Gift
@GAMER1984dude
Eh?... youve already emailed Nintendo? Fill your boots mate. Pretty sure Ninty had heard of before Nintendo Life ... its been reported on dozens of sites. Your such a bastion of videogame morality.
Re: Feature: The Story Behind New Super Mario Land, The Homebrew Marvel Intended As A Christmas Gift

@electrolite77
Much obliged again.
