Honestly don't know how I feel about this one. If she violated her contract Nintendo has the right to fire her which it seems she did with that second job. On the other hand this happened so close to the censorship rage against Nintendo it may of been better to at least give her two more weeks or something. I don't know stuff like this is why I don't want to get into business. Though one does have to wonder if her personal beliefs were at least a part of it since they were pretty strong and not a good face for Nintendo but it says that was not a factor so ugh this whole situation. Either way I wish her the best of luck.
The 3ds was the first system I bought with my own money. Bought it day one in 8th grade and couldn't even afford to buy a game for it since it was $250 which was ridiculous. In the end though it was worth it. Now as a college freshman all the time I have spent with the 3ds family has been magical and it will honestly be kinda sad to see the system go when ever the next portable console comes out. Oh yeah and 3d feature was the most pointless thing ever for me. I used it as most like a dozen times.
@crazyj2312 While I am open with experimtation the franchise is so frail at this point that it might be wise if they make a new game to make it more similar to the original or X series (at least in concept).
The first Pokemon Ranger IMO was the worse one so I hope they bring the other two over especially since I heard the third one was not super hot sales wise.
If it takes down those levels that crash the console automatically then good. If it bans people who just found a faster way through glitching to do a level then ugh that is not good.
@gcunit I played many games fine when I tried it out. Simcity, Super Mario World, and Mega Man X for example all worked fine for me. Mario Paint didn't but that didn't have the mouse and Super Mario Allstars didn't even load though that may of been because of a faulty ROM or the emulator not being completely optimized yet (Or maybe me being stupid and putting it in wrong). I do realize it is one thing to run a game and another to run a emulation but I really think the regular 3ds could run any snes game if a offical Nintendo virtual console emulator was made for it. I mean the gba couldn't be much better power wise compared to the snes and my 3ds runs my 10 ambassador gba completely fine.
The 3ds homebrew can run snes games fine (by that I mean on older models) so yeah this is just a ploy to get people to pay for a new 3ds since Nintendo made zero games for it.
@Dezzy Kinda using extreme examples there. Either way I think we have the same ideals just different levels of acceptance of them and obviously at this point neither of us are going to move from the original points we made (turning this into a pointless argument between us). It has been two days so I think it is time to end this and carry on our merry ways.
@Dezzy I think you are overanalyzing my comment. I'm just saying I understand Nintendo's concern especially since this is the same company that censored the heck out of their games in the West during the 80s and 90s. Nintendo has always been stubborn in their ways and this won't change anytime soon though it has improved.
@Dezzy I never said I supposed supported removal of sexual themes just that I understood why it happens. Like it or not the West (specifically the USA which is where I live) has never been a big fan of sexual themes. Culturally it is more fine to talk about violence in a social public setting than it is for anything having to do with sex. Heck just talking with friends from other cultures you can see the difference easily from what is taboo and what is allowed and the USA at least from what I have seen is super strict on it. We even see this in Hollywood movies where generally audiences respond better to a violent scene over a sexual one. There is a reason why growing up many of us were told to cover our eyes during sexual scenes where nothing happens while being able to watch gruesome scenes. Obviously upbringing and many other factors go into this example though I think the average belief of America is that. I understand these companies want to try to make their games more appealing for a Western audience as a result because they don't want to deal with higher age ratings or having their customers feel uncomfortable.
It is one thing to localize a game and remove sexual themes to adapt it to another region and it is a totally different thing to change the actual game itself. I hope that this is not true.
@Zoda_Fett You can have your own opinion and that is fine but I'm confused with what you mean when you say "it looked stupid". Do you mean the pokemon were not well designed or you didn't care for what was going on? For me personally while some of the pokemon were duds (garabador) there were many well designed ones like hydreigon, haxorus, samourout, zoroarck, etc. Also I feel the games of fifth generation were some of most well put together presentation and game play wise. You got all the added gameplay elements and tweaks introduced by generation four without any of four's sluggishness with a good story and unique characters and areas to put it all together.
I remember being so excited for Black and White. It was the first Pokemon generation where I could actually keep up with the new news coming out about it (mainly through serebii) so it was exciting seeing the new features and pokemon. But I didn't want to wait for the new games to come out in English so my brilliant middle school mind thought I'll just play them in japanese! Got White and played through that whole game without an idea what was going on but I still loved it. Fifth generation holds a lot of nostalgia for me because of this and many other great memories. Even more so than third and fourth generations which I mainly grew up on. When I actually played through it in English I also really liked the story. Sure it is not groundbreaking but for a pokemon game it is one of the best. Part of my love for these games is yes nostalgic but I feel I have been fair with all the pokemon games and so far fifth generation has held up remarkably well. It feels much more fluid than how clunky fourth generation was at the really least. It is honestly a real shame though that people refuse or hate on fifth generation because it has a garbage pokemon while there are (at least in my opinion) some of the most well designed pokemon in there. Who knows maybe years later it will pull a Zelda and become the "underrated games" every one skipped over but are actually good. At least I can dream right? And holy crud Black and White were released in 2010. That feels like forever ago.
Fifth generation was my favorite so White and White 2 and for my third I'll do Soul Silver since it modernized what was at the time the best pokemon game. I find it kinda silly that we have all the Pokemon games separated. The differences between the two versions always released is so minimal that I just count it as one release. For example Diamond and Pearl should of been one entry while Platinum should of been a separate entry. I also find it funny out of 1,700 votes so far not one person has picked Green. I mean most people have never played it in the West and I doubt many would consider it the best but still.
Apparently the wiiu stock in Japan sucks but even so Nintendo these numbers are really bad and need to be improved like right now. I swear Nintendo is afraid of money sometimes.
Time for everyone to overhype this and then be disappointed that it didn't meet every single ridiculous expectation! Guys I hope they announce a new F-Zero in this Nintendo Direct!
I don't think it is much of a surprise that Nintendo needs EA and more third parties in general. While I don't care (usually get third party games on pc) I recognize the importance of having these big publishers on your side.
Generation One has not aged well at least for me but I'm still going to get Yellow. It is just so outdated compared to the current Pokemon games it will just take a while to adjust. I mean special attack and special defense were one stat (special) and physic types were the most op thing ever.
I kinda figured (or at least hoped) the Japanese government would at least try to find a solution. You kinda don't want your currency to go down and bring the whole country down with it. From my experience (which is a required class in economics back in high school) the stock market seems to be mostly based on emotions and when people fear they will lose money in any form they will try to get back the money before it drops further without thinking of the big picture. Again though I have like the most minimum of experience for this issue so I'm not the right person to talk about this.
I wonder if these will go on Amazon and count for the 20% off new games deal. In that case I would know where I would be buying Orcarina of Time 3D and Pikmin 3.
I want this but the problem is FE Fates is releasing really soon and I can't justify buying another full price game on top of that especially when they are in similar genres.
Well I guess Minecraft at least has some competition on wiiu which is good. Maybe they will now update Minecraft with gamepad features to try and entice wiiu owners to buy it.
Great article. Usually I would say more but they got pretty much everything. I didn't honestly mind the doge meme in Triforce Heroes. It was out of the way enough and didn't change the story that I just thought of it as the localization team having some fun which I'm for in that instance. Also the North American of Splatoon is in my opinion the best version just for how the final boss acts compared to other versions. Fit in the game more.
I'm 18 and when I play a video game all I ask for is a fun time (or at least what I would find fun ). I do notice however that even if the game is supposed to be competitive (Splatoon/ Smash Bros.) I usually spend my time on the single player content more. I don't know maybe I am outside the norm like how I play a lot of retro games. This is an interesting study and makes me wonder what other trends there are though.
It is smart to leave Smash Bros. as the same base game. Though yes you will get those people claiming each game in the series is the same part of the hype of Smash Bros. is you know you will get a quality fighter. I would say that new characters for the most part mix things up enough. Obviously you want to expand on what the previous game did which Smash 4 did (new content and challenges) and didn't do (no story mode).
Most of the changes are cool so good job on that. My main issue as of right now is that everything seems super zoomed in on mobile. It is harder to scroll down 15 times than 3 times to see the same amount of articles for example. I'm not saying go back to the original size totally but I would prefer to be able to see more than 2 articles on screen at a time.
YouTube has been acting really broken with copyright strikes so I'm honestly not surprised. You have Channel Awesome (Nostalgia Critic), I Hate Everything, Your Movie Sucks, and various other channels having these issues all of sudden regardless if the content in question is under fair use or not.
I never spent above msrp for amiibos before so I am happy the exclusive ones are getting spread to other stores and the previously rare ones are now not rare. Honestly I have to many (20, about half have been gifts from family) but I like them so I guess it doesn't matter as long like anything I do it in moderation.
Interesting but the timeline is messed up enough I at least personally didn't feel the need for it. Still cool for the people who like knowing when the games take place.
