It's a wild goose hunt to find these figures. There's so many that I only saw the one I bought in a store and never seen another one. Jakks distribution (with these figures at least) is awful.
I don't have this issue at all. I put my Switch next to my router, PC, Xbox, and printer and without issue it worked from 20 feet away behind a wall. I feel like this only affected some of the units.
@Spoony_Tech The Wii U sat on store shelves for years. The NES Classic sold out instantly and has been impossible to get for some since its release last year. It's also relatively inexpensive and probably cheap to manufacture, it's stupid if they don't keep making more.
I'm seriously thinking about cancelling my preorder. Without a bundled game made me weary enough. I really do not want to invest $300 into another failed console either.
They made a huge mistake with the NES Classic. The number of units they should have made available at the bare minimum is 500,000, but anywhere around ~700,000 would've subsided the scalper market substantially.
9/10??? It's a gimped version compared to the Wii U version. Even though there isn't anything technically wrong with the game, it's missing every feature from the Wii U version that made it so special. And the review complains about it. If this had come out first, I could see the 9/10, and it's hard to be subjective when the same game came out with more a year prior.
That's awful enough for VP to say a thing like that, but I don't blame him, it's legal and part of his business model. Nintendo is at fault for not meeting the demand (they've ran this rodeo since the 80s, at this point it's intentional) and also the people stupid enough to buy it at those high prices that are the problem. Why give in to the high prices when YOU KNOW they're going to release more of them. This isn't a limited item or anything, this item was set up to be a hot item for this holiday season.
Last generation, I held off on the Xbox 360 because I was so convinced that the Wii was the future of gaming. I was a little off on that one but it's not to say I didn't enjoy the games on it. I really enjoyed the Mario Galaxy games, but at the time I felt like I was missing something. Everyone around me had a 360, and when I first saw Halo 3, I was sold. That game single handedly gave my Xbox the RROD 3 times (due to over heating and such). Then I got into playing Madden (mainly with friends online) and then Halo 4, while the Wii just sat there most of the time. Only now do I realize that there were quite a few hidden gems on the Wii, and they're all SO CHEAP.
Strangely enough, you'd think that one of those two were my favorite of last generation, but actually.... It's the PS3. About 3 years ago I got a PS3 from my friend and I've been hooked on that thing since. Uncharted series, Kill zone, series, Little Big Planet games, Valkyria Chronicles, ratchet and clank games, last of us, ni no Kuni...holy crap and I can keep going. Sony is looked down upon that generation, but the amount of games I missed out on makes me mad that I never got one then.
@freaksloan if $60 is chump change, you can actually get a real NES with a flash cart for not that much more. Then you can play every NES game made plus thousands upon thousands of hacks of games. Now I know that's not ethical, but you're basically buying a limited device. If it was $30, i could see that being worth it. And I guarantee Nintendo could've added a cartridge port (Sega did with their unit) they just didn't want to hurt their VC sales.
I guarantee someone will mod this to add in a cartridge port. This thing is utterly pointless without a way to play any of the other 800+ NES games made. Nintendo goes so far, yet shoots themselves in the foot at the same time.
Just because you are the mastermind of a game franchise doesn't mean you can manage development of a game today. This truly shows that Capcom hounded over the development of the mega man series. The "it's better than nothing" statement is such a cop out that he didn't have the resources to put together a great game. I truly think putting it out on nearly every platform available was a daunting task and ultimately cost them overall quality of the game to be subpar.
They should've concentrated on a great game for one platform at first then port it over. Yacht Club games did that with Shovel Knight, and that turned out real good.
I foresee a lot of technical issues with this device. I'm not sure how they're connecting the phone to the device (either Bluetooth or physical connection to micro USB, I'm guessing Bluetooth due to the semantics with USB ports) but there's bound to be compatibility issues. I wonder how they're going to prevent the ROM from being stored on the phone when you're not playing it.
That guy was using the dremel tool like an idiot. He could've injured himself and damaged the game. Don't know why he wouldn't keep the camera stationary and do it on a desk or a table.
Scariest thing is that these companies have the ability to take down any video at will. At least they righted the wrong here, but it's still a complete mess.
I hate the distribution of toys by Jakks. They've always been random and all over the place. People thought the amiibo exclusives were bad at first, try hunting down the WoN Walgreens exclusives.
The slogan sounds like a 5 year old wrote it. It's not proper English. If they're not referring to a theatrical play, then they're referring to the verb (obviously). Sounds like they still have the same marketing team who thought "Wii U" was a good name.
One thing that Nintendo isn't doing is diving head first into mobile. Even though they expect a heavy stream of revenue, you can still see it's not their main focal point.
The problem with the mobile market is that there is an oversaturated market of games, and an abundance of bad ones. I mean we can say that for the industry as a whole, but it's highlighted particularly in the mobile sector. Nintendo can make a presence because of their name, but I feel like they chose the wrong time to do it, as we all know what happens when there's an oversaturated market of bad games (reference 1983 as a source)
This will probably be one of those games that sell so bad, but it becomes so rare down the line. Although some rare games don't have much value, I feel like the way things are going, anything rare in the video game world will be worth a lot more in years to come.
Maybe if they made them more available in stores and online that would be a good first step. I've been trying to get the Metroid figure for soooooo long and I've never seen it in person once. A $15 figure goes for $45+ online, sounds like a familiar situation we had to deal with.... Oh hai amiibo.
If I wanted to play Pokémon red, blue, or yellow, I'd pop in one of my many cartridges of each on my Super GameBoy. While I know this isn't realistic for everyone, I love playing the games the way they were originally intended. Same goes with Mega man, but I'll have to buy that since I'll need it for the amiibo collection (damn you Nintendo and capcom).
@Nin-Stream That is my point exactly, they wouldn't want the person making money on the video because they aren't getting a cut of it. There is no system in place for these types of situations (their YouTube program does not count in this situation). Unless its directly ripping off/copying what they are doing, it should lie within fair use. People spend a lot of time and effort into creating videos for stuff they love, and the amount of money they get from ad revenue is pennies to Nintendo/The Pokemon Company, but they still take stuff down because they want control over their property.
It's quite disgusting what YouTube has become. It all boils down to $$$. Any corporation that sees any of their property in a video without consent can take said video down. The fair use rule has been abused by companies mainly in part because they aren't getting a cut of the $$$ from ad revenue for the property they created, even if the video is promoting their property. This type of channel promotes Pokémon, but they don't see it that way. Nintendo and the Pokémon Company alike both want total control of their assets, they've always been like that and always will be.
Even though the game came out in Japan already, what I see is day 1 DLC as a consumer. I know I won't be the only one who thinks that. Although the games will probably be worth the price alone, DLC had been basically making retail release games worthless without putting in more money into the game. Nintendo isn't bad with this, but this is only the beginning.
I hate what DLC has become. When you announce DLC before the game (in this case games) even comes out, it's an obvious cash grab. They spent development time on these "extra features" that sound like they would be ready at launch, but just want extra $$$ for it. Looks like they're starting to follow EA/Ubisoft business practices, hopefully it doesn't continue past this.
No matter how weird or crazy he was in his personal life, Michael Jackson's talents were unremarkable. I still get excited when I hear Billie Jean or Beat It. Working on the music in a video game (Sonic 3 nonetheless) just adds to the legend.
I wish they would remake this game, or come up with a sequel. This game is seriously that great and I find it amazing that both Square Enix and Nintendo have neglected it for so long. It could have been, and potentially can be, a series of its own.
@Mr_Zurkon I can totally see another 2D Mario game released after this. Once they shut down the servers for the Wii U (which will probably be not long after the NX comes out) they'll release another one of some sort.
@greengecko007 Of course digital distribution is cheaper than physical, but what I'm saying is people still love physical items, and especially when it comes to Pokémon, people eat it up. I don't buy any games digitally, and I know I'm losing out because there's a lot of indie games I want to play, but I can't put my money into something that's not physical.
People are moaning and groaning about this price, but if they did a physical release with all 3 for $29.99 no one would be complaining. I would get that if they were smart enough to do it.
@Geonjaha I love Mega man just as much as everybody else here does, I'm just stating what everyone else doesn't want to admit. I have mega man anniversary collection for the GameCube, I don't need "HD remasters" of NES games Lol.
In the US, GameStop is already out of the new majoras mask 3DS XL. Apparently it was out with 2 minutes. This is just like the limited edition bundle with the skull kid figure, it was out within an hour! My local Gamestops have been telling me that people were waiting outside once they announced it. This is unreal. Thank you Nintendo for rewarding the scalpers once again.
