Its not even Movie Mario themed.... just regular old Mario.

Without nostalgia, the game isnt very good, as most N64 games its graphics are ugly, and that controls arent polished enough (from a modern perspective).
Maybe because I am more of an 8 and 16 bits old man, I feel that SNES games (and even NES games) have aged much better.

@Jmjfrank Truth to be told, N64 games have not aged as well as SNES games (or even NES games). Ugly graphics, funky controls and cameras, etc.

@sullivans2004 you are right, I was really refering only between the “Super Mario” series (not including Kart, Paper, Party, etc)
And even then, its my humble (although correct) opinion. Im sure there are people who feels there are worst Super Mario games than Sunshine… (maybe one of the “new” ones?)

will there be more than a handfull of enemies to fight? Not only in numbres but variety. That was the worst thing about BOTW, the lack of monster population.

No.
Sunshine is the worst Mario of all Marios. And a big part of it was the FLUDD gizmo.
After many years, I gave Sunshine another chance. Bought Mario 3D allstars mostly for it. Didnt get very far before I got bored and offputted. Its the only Mario that I didnt finished.

CUPHEAD.
I wanted to love it... but it felt too cheaply hard to me.
Im an old gamer, and dont get afraid of Battletoads, Castlevania, Megaman, Karate Kid... But Cuphead feels too difficult to me... so difficult I got bored, stuck in the Dragon Boss.

I think the next Switch, will still be hybrid... BUT, much powerfull when docked. Maybe with a dual processor on the device (a mobile low power when undocked, a powerfull when docked), or an additional more powerfull on the dock.
Or just be Nintendo, and give me something I still dont know Ill love.

What? The artwork of the japanese is awfull! Belmont face, Dracula fangs (are those fangs or piercings?)
The american version is bad too, wheres Dracula??? But at least is not that awful

@NinjaNicky breakable weapons was not really that bad. But yes, The emptiness of the world was kind of a bummer, the lack in number and variety of the enemies. Another thing that (a very little thing really, but annoyed me) was the artificial bundaries of the map, the invisible wall on the desert…

BoTW was excelent, as was that trailer.
But TotK… I dont know why Im not that exited, it just feels like it was just a DLC from the previous game… like not new enough…
I hope the game changes my mind, of course I gonna get it.

Sure, Stop plastic toys, but don't give us lame cardboard ones.
They should stick with plush dolls as those from Lion King 2 or Snoopy.

Enjoy beauty, wherever it comes from... Ive seen worst made by humans.

Just make a "modern" Megaman game... (and ok, keep bringing retro style games too)
Imagine Nintendo kept releasing 16 bit Super Mario Games....
No Mario 64, Galaxy, Odissey.... Or Zelda games.
Make 3D mega man games, reinvent the controls, point of view, etc, but keep the core idea of beating robomasters in order to get their power....

Those toys look as cheap as they come… just some cardboard pieces.
Thats mich worse than the latest Mc Donald’s Mario toys…
Maybe is just the regional toys, but Its a bummer since I just moved to Portugal.

@pennylessz truth to be told, personally I haven't really liked any Illumination film to date, they are just ok, and mostly for kids.
But I still have hopes for this one, From the trailers I like the art style (except maybe for the eye detail) and what I heard from the voice cast Is great, except Mario itself that its just serviceable...
But as a huge Mario fan, I'm going to watch it and try, really hard, to enjoy it... hope I dont have to try too much.

@N00BiSH Thats not the "original" design... for starters, he got its tie later, 1994.

@daveMcFlave I dont get people claiming its not a "real" Mario game... It started as a real Mario prototype, then used the ideas for another game (Doki Doki), and then returned to its original spiritual franchise, Mario. Even Miyamoto was very involved in its creation.
And its far superior Mario game that the "lost levels".

Nintendo should accept super Mario Bros. 2 (or Super Mario USA as Japan knows it) and use some of it ideas in future games... I really loved it on NES.

@ketrac @SonOfDracula lol, its not going to be a disaster in any way. I guarantee it would make millions. Maybe not a good movie, but it just have to be enjoyable for kids to be a success.
I am betting for a "meh" movie... not bad, not great... just "Minions" good

@PikaPhantom Only New Donk city was populated with "weird" normal (ish) people... I asumed that it was kind of a weird dimenson or something... not the real city where Mario lived...
And the sign is for a street, not a borough.. surely any city can name a generic Street "Brooklyn"

Played it a few times... never again returned.
Its a great looking game, but I feel its main attractive is playing it on VR, so the Switch game feels kind of incomplete.
I have much more fun with Tetris 99.

@strollin_stu LOL. These Mario bigfigs are as part of the system as Duplo figures, Fabuland figures, Maxifigures, mini dolls, Technic figures, microfigures etc, etc, etc.
The system is about the bricks to be compatible between al the sets. In Lego history there have been several lines and figurines of different scales, some predating the today known minifigures, and all of them part of the System...

Calm down, they will surelly make a few Mario minifigures in the future.
But at that scale It would be difficult to have a decent Koopa, Goomba or any smaller than Mario creature, only a very small figurine for them. For the castles and environments you already have everything needed to build them… Lego bricks.
In the meanwhile, let KIDS have something fun to play with. Lego is for playing and rebuilding, not just collecting and displaying, its a TOY!
(A toy for kids that adult are allowed to enjoy too)

Nintendo Power is in part responsible for my love for Nintendo... The articles, maps and Posters... I miss those days!

@AtlanteanMan i dont understand digital “collections” anyway. When digital, they are never truly yours. Better to buy proper cartridges and make your own ROMs as back up… thats the only way ro trully own them.
For $20 a year, I find NOS much more cost effective than buying some digital game for 5 bucks each, even if “retro compatible” you never own them.
NOS is much a better way to play and discover old games you wouldn’t buy individually. But that’s me. I still have friends that don’t use Spotify and still store their “collection” of mp3 on their PC’s 🤷🏻‍♂️

-a NES remix online could be fun

What i really want is to expand the Bowser fury's concept, a really open world Mario. That would be great.
I am pretty sure thats where the franchise is going.

How did Mario got his own castle and became the ruler of an entire country? What kind of maniac dictator name his colonized land with his own name? Maybe Wario was just a freedom fighter trying to liberate “Mario Land” from the evil plumber’s oppression…

Its so difficult... Mario overworld theme is too obvious, Mario 2 first level is awesome... Megaman 2 intro dont count anyway,
so the best of the best have to be calssic Zelda theme...

Kind of exited about this... it looks acceptable cartoonish fun.
Mario sound ok I guess... The surprise was how good Toad sounds.
What I'm really afraid of, is the possibility of a game based on the movie...
