Looks like a lot of people are playing Elliot...I will be carrying on with Yakuza 0. Got to chapter 11 after a lot of real estate shenanigans. What a great sidegame.
@Durians I found Hyrule Field a bit of a slog, getting from A to B until later on took ages. Water Temple by all accounts is overly long, as is going back and forth in time, I gave up before then as the clunkiness was getting hard to put up with. But that could just be me.
@Pillowpants I gave up on OOT, as I tried playing it after Wind Waker (came packed in with Wind Waker). It was just way too clunky. Tried again on Wii U Virtual Console, but again it was off the back of Twilight Princess HD. It's a game that definitely needed an overhaul to smooth things out, and to rework some of the artificial length they added to the game.
@spiderman0616 Fellow Apple user here…been using a Mac since 1987…
But yeah a lot of the whingers parrot the same things that some YouTuber they follow cried about, hence why I like to have a bingo card for this site. They don’t realise they’re doing it.
I laugh because looking at the thumbnail above, if you listened to some of the comments on this site you would be convinced the version on the far left is the Switch 1.
@nukatha yeah that happened back in the Megadrive/Super Nintendo/PC Engine era, back when people used to have to get region switches fitted. Although I suspect in this day and age with the Japanese Switch 2, no such regional option exists inside the unit. I've bought devices in Japan in the past and I knew I was pretty much on my own once I got back home.
@axelhander I'm just curious as to how this will affect you in any shape or form. Are you planning to spend thousands of Canadian dollars to go to Japan, book somewhere to stay, to try and get a Switch 2 a few dollars cheaper, when you already own one?
@nukatha Japan has a very long history of domestic only products. Much the same as when I first went to the states I saw brands that don’t exist anywhere else.
@Maxz it does seem like their way of dealing with grey importers…unless there’s some way of doing a region unlock - which would most likely result in Nintendo doing some sort of lock on the console, which will lead to more crying on the internet.
@Bracing_space best use of the word "we" in this comment section... amount of times I've had to ask people on this site who they mean by "we?" If you listened to the "we"s in here you'd swear the Deckbeard had sold 75 million units.
I came away impressed and surprised. The third party support is far better than the Switch 1 got. A lot of posts in here complaining about old games need to realise that not everyone has every box under their TV and a gaming rig. Some people just have either a Switch 1/2 and are over the moon about not having to spend a fortune on kit to play these titles. Not forgetting all those people for whom a Switch is the only practical way to squeeze a game in these days. Who gives a damn about not getting brownie points from a bunch of miserable people you don't know anyway.
Good to see so many people thinking they speak for everyone yet again!
Still a few little things I need to tie up on Yakuza Kiwami 2, I may well download Kiwami 0 this weekend for the prequel story...other than that I have been getting back into Pure Pool, I've had no problems getting online opponents either...
@jfp The smear campaign has been unreal...at times it feels co-ordinated. I think back to 2025 and the influx of haters that joined the site for example.
Loving it. It feels like a leap up in comparison to the Switch in every way. Migrating everything over was so easy. So far I've been mainly playing third party games, currently working my way through the Yakuza series which Sega kindly furnished us with, along with titles like VF5 and Dragon Quest 7. I was pleased as well about getting Mario Kart World so cheap as part of the bundle. The backwards compatibility is also a huge plus as it means I can return to games I didn't finish.
@jsty3105 any excuse to cry on his part methinks. Dude is putting himself through turmoil for no reason. Nothing left of the plasterboard. Sell up, move on. Enjoy life.
Mine's still in pristine condition, bear in mind I doubt I game as much as a lot of the punters on this site...got mine in January but I do have to say the build quality overall compared to the OG Switch is leaps and bounds above. Joycons feel like silk, they've taken one of my favourite controllers and made it better.
Had virtually no issues with my OG Switch since October 2017, the only issue I had was a bit of faint drift which I rectified with contact cleaner solution. Other than that, still looks new!
I beat the main game of Yakuza Kiwami 2 during the holiday weekend, mad ending. Tying up loose ends around town in post game now, mainly the Cabaret Club Grand Prix!
@AussieMcBucket yep as I said, Sega did it no problem with Yakuza Kiwami. Save transferred over and I carried on where I left off but with a shinier and smoother finish. I’ll still get it as it’s no biggie to me and it’s been a whole generation since I played it, but for people who’ve picked it up recently it’ll definitely sting.
@Serpenterror Yep I couldn't tell the difference between the Switch, PS4, Xbox and 3DS versions. All identical down to the very last pixel. Zero effort at all, banged out in a lunch break no doubt, just hit the send button and go for a beer.
@IronMan30 my other thought about this "darker" Dragon Quest is that it's probably from that period when Square Enix was trying to westernise everything, saw how much that path bit them in the posterior and U-turned from there...
@michellelynn0976 It’s been 7 years since I played through it on the Switch. I want to replay it and start from scratch on my new console. I doubt I will struggle to raise the funds between now and then but yeah a discount for Switch owners would have been a nice touch. Sega did that with Yakuza Kiwami. Key card doesn’t bother me in the slightest either as I have it digitally on the Switch 1.

@IronMan30 "but we have nothing to play??!?!?!?!?!?"
Re: Japanese Charts: Tomodachi Life Finally Slips From The Top Spot
The OG PS5 is still hanging on, the Switch 2 hasn’t passed it just yet. Couple more weeks and it’ll be overtaken.
Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Description May Suggest A Faithful 1:1 Remake
@Ralek85 Phew! Didn't want to mess up your numbers...last I looked it was 98.72% - but these sorts of fluctations are bound to happen.

@johnedwin or they bought it digital? I remember you using that line in the Japanese charts a lot.
Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Description May Suggest A Faithful 1:1 Remake
@Ralek85 I haven’t played it 27 times so sadly you’ll have to exclude me from your “us” list. Sorry! 🤷🏽

Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Description May Suggest A Faithful 1:1 Remake
@Ryu_Niiyama My thinking was that they pretty much came as a pair...the gap between them was so short.
Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Description May Suggest A Faithful 1:1 Remake
@Ryu_Niiyama One of my thoughts was that they might just do Majora's Mask off the back of this, time will tell....
Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Description May Suggest A Faithful 1:1 Remake
@8bit-Man "Yeah. I kinda expected them to take the quick and lazy way with this."
Could you elaborate on the "quick and lazy" part of this remake? What do you know that everyone else doesn't?

@ShadLink they're like hangry toddlers at times.
Re: Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Description May Suggest A Faithful 1:1 Remake
Weird, I interpret "timeless gameplay" as in all the Zelda tropes people expect are present. Not worth getting worked up over until more is shown...
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (13th June)
Yakuza 0 for me, just started chapter 5, went through 2 chapters watching my back, being paranoid about getting robbed….

@EVIL-C he’s already reviewed it and given it a 4, and if he was to buy it, it’ll be on PS5.

Re: Dragon Quest XII Gets A New Title Following Complete Development Reset
@IronMan30 If they want it to do well in Japan it has to be on Switch 2…I imagine whatever engine they’re using is scalable enough.
Re: Dragon Quest XI Gets The 'Definitive Edition' Treatment (Again) For Switch 2
Schweet....was looking to replay this at some point as it's been nearly 7 years, and it will no doubt be easily available below the RRP.
