I agree with the sentiments on Live Service games on Switch, I don't want to rely on being connected to a server/wi-fi to play my games on my handheld device. It's cool if they manage it, but not for me. If they ever released an offline version of Diablo 4 since it has local multiplayer, I'd be all over that.
Sad there's no Diddy Kong (or any other Kong) maybe that will be the first DLC to coincide with the hype of Bananza - but the game does look gorgeous, fun, and well-optimized, plus my boy Nabbit is finally playable in a home console spin off, is that worth $80? Subjective, but is it worth $50 in the bundle, I'd say so. Backwards compatibility makes trading in my Switch 1 for this new model much more of a smoother choice.
So are we to look forward to 'guest' SEGA characters in this? I asl as we only saw Sonic characters at this time. Despite that I love the ring gimmick, and transformed sections returning, the stage scenery looks like a massive step up as well! Funny they are bringing back all these older features, but not the team mechanic from TSR, honestly that mechanic was the ONLY thing that game had going for it, it would work wonders as a side mode on a game of this scale.
Great interview to read - nice job Felix! I'm very excuted for Haunted Chocolatier and just what kind of game that will shape into. That said, I can also see how hard it must be for Eric to peel away from Stardew as that is a proven success with so much to expand on - it must really be like a comfort food for him at this point. Eric always seems like such a humble dude, I wish him continued success in his developments.
Expected, but nice to have confirmed. All I need are Diddy Kong back or Nabbit to make his debut and I will be over the moon, but I don't expect Nabbit who seems to only be reserved for easy mode in 2d Mario games now.
Great local co-op party game with friends. Solo and online however were lack-luster and don't, imo, have a fun repayable gameplay loop. I'll jump back on as Bowser Jr. Is my fave, but this should have genuinely been the launch/base game, the updates were genuinely just back-filling what would have been core content.
@thinkhector Hard agree, I've been saying 1080p looks fine, keep this resolution and work on fluidity, expansive worlds/gameplay, and shorter load times. These bigger 4K games are lovely experiences and maybe even fun the first playthrough due to the sheer spectacle, but the gameplay isn't always there after that. Graphics shouldn't be the main measure of a game's quality. "Switch 2" should be a beefier version of what we have, with a second screen to get some DS compatibility, it would sell like crazy.
My only expectation is Dragon's Dogma 2, so I am already prepped for disappointment, everything else is just extra fluff for the event lol. That said, I do respect the transparency from Geoff, to not hype everyone up just to let everyone down.
I never really got into tour, and having to spend so much to be able to play as a character I actually want to play as just turned me off completely. That said, I am loving the tour courses in MK8D — I would genuinely love if they brought in some characters and kart customization from tour into MK8D — I would rather pay a DLC character/Kart booster pass than pay for them on Tour.
I wish it was Mario and Luigi, a single skin per month seems like a downgrade after the 3 yoshi, toad, and koopa colors (I'm surprised Boo only had a singular visor color). That said I still greatly enjoy this game, and hope they surprise with Paid DLC later next year.
HUH!? I've been so engrossed in ACNH I didn't even realize this came out yesterday! I am shocked that there are no new battle course arenas and Birdo is still not playable. Hope this has at least one massive paid expansion, as I would love for Diddy or Nabbit to be playable in this game; if not however the free updates to this one have been meatier than expected. Very happy with my purchase.
I'm hopeful that if HHP sells well they come back to it, if nothing else give us some Splatoon crossover when 3 releases (since they are the same team). That said I am grateful for 2.0 it truly injected so much life to an otherwise dull doll house experience that my island had become. The plethora of activities, dialogue, NPCs, and new items really give me lots of new goals and it is a pleasure seeing my friends logging back in and playing with people again.
I'm surprised Dragon's Dogma didn't make the list, I know it is an older port, but all the night time and dark areas, I would think the OLED would really make them pop/spookier.
Loved this announcement my wife and I adore this new Mario Golf (hope they understand Daisy so she says "Whatever" again). I hope they continue to update this game, the core golf is such arcadey fun, people sleeping on this game since Nintendo rushed it out the gate. Unfortunate.
I would have thought Mocchi would have been the obvious choice for a Monster Rancher rep, but I like that Suezo was their chosen rep... not that I was ever expecting a Monster Rancher rep lol.
So my wife and I just played the new donk map and tried out Toadette, we had a blast but came to find that her fave character Daisy no longer says "whatever" when she gets a bogey, she now says "boo"... Why on earth was this changed??? We love Daisy's sass
I really hope for a tropical isle delfino course with Petey as the playable character, or a haunted hotel course with a playable Gooigi as the dlc character, maybe even a Cat island course with Fury Bowser ad an obstacle where Plessie is the next Golfer lolq
This and Warioware were standouts for me personally; I hope it isn't solely 5 boards, and if it is JUST 5 we better get Wario's Battlefield on this one.
So I tried out the Lance a weapon I've never been interested in due to the capcom "personality quiz" they held on twitter, I was horrible with it at first but quickly grew to appreciate its tankiness, now I love it. Overall, I love a lot of improvements in this game, and it has very quickly RISEN (lol) to the top as my all time fave Mon Hun game (finally defeating 4U) that said I never really gave Gen Ultimate a chance so I can't speak for it. All in all this game both brings back my love and nostalgia for the series and adds and expands to the QoL improvements introduced by world (I am excited for this game's life in the coming updates)
Dang this is both tempting and potentially disappointing, they cannot please everyone if they just choose Raymond or Marshall...I would love to get a plush of my 10 or my wife's 10 villagers, but I'm sure the safe bet is that they'll go with the NPCs, like Tom Nook, KK Slider, Isabelle, and maybe the Dodos.
Ayer nice, love to see King Bob-omb as playable after seeing him in tour. Hope he makes it as a captain if and when Strikers returns. As for the roster for golf, I expect the Mario Tennis Aces characters to at least make it in, maybe add a Sumo Bro, King Boo, and Pom pom
Well I could've told you that, AC was a pleasant escape through and through, unless you got anxiety from seeing everyone's better islands on social media lol. I can see how it's more pleasant these days vs older titles where the neighbors weren't as neighborly and kind as they are in NH. I'm glad this game is giving many respite from the critical times we are dealing with in today's world. I personally find any games with a party/group of characters working together to be relaxing, Yakuza 7 has been a zen experience for me because of this, even if it can be tough at times, same with games like Dragons Dogma, even at its most difficult/frustrating the pawns make it fun for me, and in a less active role, the villagers on my animal crossing island serve a similar purpose for me.
Huh I don't know I expected something... else? I mean sure it's not a classy ad but it's not an attack on the human sensibilities as the article makes it out to be. This is coming from a man's perspective though so probs will be ignored, even if I have had a woman smack my butt on the street which was weird, and uncalled for sure. But it's not a condemnable act where i want to see her suffer for it lol, similar to the ad, where it was not without consequence/shown in a positive light. I don't even see it as trying to be "funny" more so as trying to grab people's attention, as an Ad is meant to, and viola, it worked.
I'm surprised by the negativity on this, clearly this is a sequel with everything from the first going to next gen, they were kind enough to also bring it to the switch so no one complains "ugh why does ps5 and series x get those new modes and (chracters/music?) and we don't?" I'm personally hyped, I played the crap out of the first one, I hope this boss raid plays similar to the old school mean bean machine style, and if so make Robotnik playable SEGA!
Aw what? Is this the big holiday title lol!? I am pleased, I played the first one with my friends and fiance so much over the years, this is day one for me.
Wow, surpassing smash ultimate in just 4 months is insane growth for Animal Crossing, I see it as a legitimate contender to dethrone MK8D. That is unless Nintendo does some out of left field Mario Anniversary cup dlc for Mario Kart, with tracks based on Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and Odyssey to celebrate his 35th. Maybe add characters from each of those eras like King Bombomb/Petey Pirahna/Luma/Pauline, add the New Donk taxi as a kart and Peach's Castle Courtyard as a new battle arena. Haha sorry got carried away, but my point is if they can manage to inject new life into 8 Deluxe I can see them staying on top. Otherwise, AC with monthly updates is gonna catch up.
Seeing as they rated the previous 2 just as highly it doesn't exactly add to my confidence about this game. The one thing I would like clarification on are the partners are they area specific or not? As stupid as it may be to many, this is the biggest thing keeping me from pre-ordering, I like my party members in games, so even if they get "bland" post introduction arc, if I can still use them in the world then I will be more content than if they are just made to be story specific and then never seen again. The consensus online seems to be bouncing from they are only temporary to Bobby was at the blue streamer in the mountains and again on the Blooper boat showing they go everywhere, but have no clear idea...
New Horizons has quickly become tied as my fave with the original. As I've grown with the series I have come to appreciate each entry, however I feel like the creativity in NH is incredible, that said, there's things from prev games that have been rumored that I'd like, such as Gyroids, more stores, etc. I'd like Isabelle to have a more prominent role, she doesn't do much in this one. I want nintendo themed furniture and clothes. I want more to do after reaching 5 stars, let me be able to up my villager cap to at least 12. These are ofc just a few things I'd like, but overall I love the game so far and am excited to see what they have planned.
Agree one island per switch kinda sucks, it doesn't affect me and I helped my GF buy her own switch since I know we wouldn't want to share an island anyhow and we both would be playing non stop, so multiple islands on one switch wouldn't help my personal situation either. Regardless, I can definitely see how this could be a huge inconvenience for many, and I hope they can somehow change it. That said, the comment that claimed that this decision made Nintendo WORSE than EA is laughable, EA would probably give you Bells, NMT, and other items via loot boxes, and holidays wouldn't be free updates, they'd be a season pass. This is a beautiful, customizable, escape that I can play with loved ones via online in these trying times, and that makes it a fantastic game to me. Besides in prev iterations I believe it was one town per card/cartridge, not the same thing I know, buying an extra game isn't the same as buying another switch, just saying it's the norm for this team, I hope they take the constructive criticism buried in this hate, to heart.
hot pursuit mode and split screen, at last, all I would want would be car damage and this would be a wonderful follow up to the PS2 era Need for Speed games I'd play with my dad. I mean it already seems to be, but a man can dream. I hope it's good
I see a lot of folks complaining about the lack of an arcade mode. I agree survival doesn't do it for me either, however, I rather an Abyss mode or something crazy like that to match the simple yet busted personality this game boasts, on the flipside as I have friends who enjoy tag fighters like I do, I spend a lot of time in Versus mode which is probably why I don't feel as burned out as others do when it comes to offline fun.
That said more modes in fighters are always welcome, since there's still one more stream to come before the release month, and since they announced all the characters in one go, maybe next month they will reveal a new mode. (I hope)
Oh hell yeah! Finally including CR!! As a Costa Rican this is glorious, tired of it always being just MX, Argentina and Brazil. Hope everyone can get this service in the future
Genuinely my favorite roster out of any Mario spin off (All it was missing to be absolute perfection was Funky Kong and the Mario 64 Penguin)

As others have said, these look cool but a bit too much like those ugly TMNT re-designs from 2014. I prefer the cartoony style (though I believe the current remake could be higher quality animation), but I wouldn't be against an Epic, Kratos-esque journey with these boys, action rpg type deal, could be stupid fun!
