As much as I enjoyed DK Bananza, I see no reason for me to buy this DLC anytime soon. Just don't see the $20 value, especially when I can use that money towards something else on the eShop or any other gaming platform. To me, this is a case of DLC being overpriced but is otherwise perfectly fine. Had there been more to it and/or the DLC was priced lower (or just outright free if that was ever an option), it wouldn't be quite as bad.
In North America, this isn't the first time they were removed as an NSO benefit, and I'm kind of surprised they remained as an option for as long as they did. I only used them a few times in the past myself, and they are a good option if you want to get two $60 games digitally for $20 cheaper. I figured they'd remove them when they said Switch 2 games aren't being added, so it was only a matter of time before they announced this.
Had a feeling that they'd drop this update shortly after I 100%'d the game. Looking forward in seeing how different these three returning tracks will be from their original counterparts.
Looks like something I would've found on my own if I just messed around in Free Roam for long periods of time. To put it simply, I wouldn't take the "it's broken" too seriously. While it could be a step to something potentially game breaking, it currently just seems like a harmless oversight that likely only a small number of people will encounter by accident during Free Roam.
While it's nice to see the game running smoothly in comparison when playing on Switch and I'm glad this patch exists at all, this should've been how the game ran in the first place or at least much better than it did. They should make one for Legends Arceus, because that game suffers major framerate issues as well.
These screenshots don't convey much, apart from resolution bump with the textures and more Pokemon being on screen at once. I'm more curious about the improved framerate in action, if pop-in is still a problem or not, and whether the Switch 2 even fixes any of the visual glitches that can occur when playing the game for extended amounts of time. It's definitely going to be one of the first Switch 1 games I'll try out on the Switch 2, that's for sure.
Despite the amount of visual glitches I've seen and the performance issues being pretty bad at times, Scarlet/Violet is probably the most fun I've had in a mainline Pokemon game for years. So I'll be glad to experience it again on Switch 2 to see how much of an improved experience it'll be with its upgrade patch.
There's no excuse to not credit the original composer(s) of songs directly unmodified from the games, unless the composer(s) ask to remain uncredited. It's frustrating enough that Smash Bros. did this first, but to have it happen in the Mario movie and the Nintendo Music app is just absurd no matter what excuse Nintendo pulls.
As for Nintendo not liking DK 64...I mean, it's not the best game on the system, but apparently they didn't hate it entirely if they gave it a Wii U VC release and were willing to give Chunky a brief appearance in the movie. That's just me, though.
@Tott People weren't a huge fan of how you had to locate 8 Triforce Charts, have them all be deciphered by Tingle (at 398 Rupees a chart), and then sailing to each individual sector just to salvage the Triforce Shards and make actual progress. I think the idea behind it was so players could explore around the sea more, but it would end up coming across as padding the experience instead. Wind Waker HD ended up reducing the number of charts to three, while the rest were changed to Triforce Shards, so it helped speed up the quest a bit.
Personally, I didn't have any issues with it either, since I tend to 100% the entire game anyways. But I can see why people hated this part of the game as there's no denying it's just feels like a forced side quest to pad out the experience.
Got mine from Target despite the endless waves of errors during checkout. I know orders have been getting cancelled there so I can't say with 100% confidence it's a secured order atm, even though it's been over 12 hours since then. I did try Walmart, but I was stuck in a line queue that didn't go anywhere. And Best Buy was 30 minutes late, so I didn't bother after my order from Target went through. No idea about GameStop, but I hope people who weren't able to get one online last night are having better luck with going to the stores in person to preorder one.
At most, it might pop up a message on the top left saying "This requires an active online subscription to use." But I'd like it if it did something that isn't so generic as that. Like, some little easter egg connected into the button in some way if you don't have a subscription.
That said, I'll probably forget this button is even there when playing games, similar to how I feel about the TV button on the Wii U gamepad and the Share button on the DualShock 4 controller.
I was initially concerned when I heard the game takes place exclusively in one city of X/Y, but it appears they're making sure the city is truly as open as we originally imagined it being back in 2013. The Wild Areas is an interesting approach, and it's also interesting how the battles are being handled this time around. Having two Johto starters is...a bizarre choice. Have nothing against them, but I would've thought they'd include a starter from a different gen to match how Legends Arceus did it.
My primary concern really is the visuals and potentially framerate. Both Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet suffered major framerate issues, to a point where they can be unplayable at times. My expectations are hoping the framerate is at least dropping at more tolerable/smaller amounts, but what I actually hope for is a consistent 30 FPS bare minimum. Also, for the love of Arceus, make sure this game is nowhere as buggy as Scarlet/Violet was. Regardless, looking forward to playing this when it comes out!
I'll be honest that at first, I thought this was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being shown, until I realized it wasn't. Might be a potential issue, but we only got a tiny preview of it and likely has something to keep itself different, even if visually it might be similar. Regardless, I'm glad to see a new Mario Kart after a very long time, and looking forward to seeing what'll be introduced in this game!
Time flies when you realize how old some of these gaming devices between 2005-2013 actually are. But I do consider the 3DS as retro, even though it's hard for me to comprehend that. Not nearly as hard as calling PS3 and Xbox 360 retro, though. Those are almost 20 years old, and it's hard to call their games "retro" when some still hold up graphically. So I can definitely see why people are mixed on calling the 3DS retro, since its games still feel like they belong in the modern era in some capacity.
I know these games have their fans, and if they ever get remade, I'll be happy for those fans. But for myself? I didn't really care much for them. Although I remember thinking Gale of Darkness was just a little bit better, I was just bored with Colosseum early on, due to how long battles felt and being entirely double battle focused.
That said, I think they could benefit being remastered, but I also think that at this point, it'd be better just to leave the two games on GCN and make an entirely new adventure in the Orre Region instead. Something fresh but familiar. Maybe have it as a filler adventure while Game Freak's developing the next mainline game or something.
I accidentally found myself at the Great Plateau while exploring around the main surface map. It didn't occur to me I was on the Great Plateau until I checked the map and recognized the "River of the Dead" location. From there, I decided to spend some time exploring around, finding areas that I could recognize.
To me, it was fun to see what the place was like after Breath of the Wild, and how much nature has taken back since then, despite the area in general having the same overall layout. I feel like the Shrine of Resurrection was a mild disappointment, since all of its tech is gone. But I was at least pleased that there was one remnant of its past glory: a small pool of water has health restoring powers, located right where Link would've woke up from in BotW. It's not much, but I liked that added detail.
Personally, while I didn't hate the Divine Beasts, TotK's dungeons are what I actually wanted more from in BotW after going through Hyrule Castle. TotK's dungeons are visually different, having unique bosses with their own music themes that isn't shared, and a gimmick to reach the main objectives...it's a step in the right direction imo. Not perfect, mind you. The buildup to Water Temple is very similar to the Wind Temple, only I feel the Wind Temple does a better job. Fire Temple's also...confusing with its level design, to a point I had to cheap out and use Ascend just to access areas to proceed. And they all share the same "activate four/five things to reach the boss" structure, albeit you could treat that as the dungeon's "boss keys" I guess.
That said, I still feel the classic dungeons from 1987-2011 will remain better overall in terms of being memorable and different from each other until they eventually get it to work with BotW/TotK's gameplay mechanics. Hopefully in the third game of this particular Zelda era, they can get it closer to that without sacrificing too much.
Got 15/15, but I'll admit I took a guess on Skyrim since I know nothing about that game, much less The Elder Scrolls in general. Pretty fun quiz; definitely tested my recollection about the games.
I'll remain optimistic about this since there's no official NFT project announced and doesn't automatically mean they are going to make an NFT project from just the job listing description. However, should they make an official Pokemon NFT project in the future, it'll be that very same day when I stop supporting the Pokemon franchise directly. That is if I don't do that before hand, considering Scarlet/Violet's current state.
I was concerned if I'd like the Gen 9 Pokemon designs or not initially, but they've grown on me as I continued to play the game. Right now, my favorites have to be Sprigatito and its evos, Lokix, Baxcalibur, Ceruledge, Mabosstiff, Dachsbun, Tinkaton, Clogsire, Bellibolt, Finizen and Palafin, Pawmot, and Orthworm.
Honestly, I forget Pokérus is a thing until it gets brought up in some way. It was useful for building competitive Pokémon, but considering how rare it happened, I'm a bit indifferent about its removal. However, I do think it's questionable that they removed it at all.
Honestly, I avoided the Switch version due to fears that it might run worse than the other platforms I have as options (I went with the PS4 version for this case). Seems like I made the right call, although even on PS4, the game isn't necessarily the most impressive graphically and still has popin regardless of the platform of your choice.
That said, I'm not sure if I'd rate this a 4; that seems pretty harsh from what I've played so far. It does have problems and issues that I can agree with, which includes the camera, enemy lockon, level design reuse, constant popin, simplistic combat, and the repetitive structure. However, I appreciate how the Open Zones aren't too big which makes collecting items less of a chore and more enjoyable to explore imo and how the combat itself is a bit more involved than the usual "wait/approach the boss/enemy/weakspot and spam the homing attack" combat that a majority of 3D Sonics have. I would at least rate this a 6 or 7 from my current experience; by no means a bad game but not a great one either. Perfectly average but still enjoyable for what it is. I can recommend it when it goes on sale at the very least.
To me, VGM leaks are the least of anyone's problems if the full game is leaked because a store broke street date. These types of leaks rarely offer anything that'd spoil the game itself since no one really retags the files from their generic file names, and Sonic Frontiers is no exception. I can understand why the Tomoya Ohtani is frustrated over this, though. It's just not easy to control the internet from leaking stuff since there's always going to be that one person who'll do it regardless.
@Preposterous I've noticed for awhile; ever since Sun/Moon. The major cutscenes where it isn't just the characters standing around and talking do need voice acting, instead of just text. I don't know why Game Freak refuses to not include it in the games at this point, so if it's still not present after Scarlet/Violet, I think more fans will begin to take notice how truly weird it is they're essentially reading subtitles.
Personally, I'm not 100% sure if I want the games to be fully voice acted after all these years, but I would like to at least see the cutscenes be voice acted.
Honestly, the trailer didn't do much for me. Basically was an extended look of stuff we've seen/known before with some new things sprinkled in there. Admittedly, I do like Farigiraf and the picnics. The Let's Go mechanic is pretty neat as well; reminds me of Spectrobes Origins in that regard.
I was curious if they meant tears or tears. Glad to know it's tears so I can go back to wondering what significance the title has to the game's story/lore, considering they were hiding it initially for plot reasons.
This looks like a mobile game ported over to consoles, or an asset flip title with a name like "Base Attack Shooter 3D" or something. It definitely doesn't strike me as an officially licensed Taito product that's part of an existing IP of theirs. I can see this going into bargain bin prices fairly fast, depending on how much it costs.
Could be fine gameplay wise, though. Hopefully it will be for those that are interested in getting this game.
I like the gradient colors of Splatoon 3's Joycons, but I also like the mystical look of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet's OLED Deck. So, they're both good in their own ways.
@Dimey The Genesis Mini 2 listing says it comes with a power adapter, which is weird to me considering how neither of the Mega Drive Mini 2s come with one.

19/21. Memory was a bit better than I thought, since I recognized most of them straight away. Although some of them were pretty easy to figure out.
