By this time next week, I should be done with Chrono Trigger on DS. I know I’ll go for a couple extra endings, but I’m not sure about getting them all. Maybe!
I also should be finished with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (the old one), as I’ve been chipping away at that. Very easy game to just take a battle into the bathroom with. I’m in the last chapter, but I feel like the battles just got repetitive. I’ll still pick up the sequel though down the road.
The fan tantrum to the critical response is also exactly as I expected.
I might just watch this when it is a cheap rental or on a streaming service.
On a related note, I’ll be watching the live-action movie with my wife sometime soon. I might have given her the impression that we’re going to watch the new movie, when I’m not sure she’s ever even heard of the older movie. 😜
The death of the eshop sort of weirdly renewed my desire for StreetPass. As I reflected on my best memories with the 3DS, StreetPass loomed large over all others. I’d probably try StreetPass more often now if my old 3DS didn’t die so quickly!
This has been standard for a lot of Japanese game releases. If you don’t like the price point, don’t buy it. I know I won’t. I already have EOIII, which is the only one I really care about.
That Vooks video started and I first thought, “Are we really still doing Pachelbel’s Canon in D in 2023?” and then half a minute later, “Are we REALLY still doing Vitamin C in 2023?!?!?!”
Regardless, it was very nice and I’m sad about the shop closing, but we’ll all just have to soldier on in our own way.
I do love my 3DS, probably even more than I did DS, because of the ease of access of all those great games on the eshop.
If Nintendo Life isn’t going to do it, and I suspect they will, let’s do it here in the comment section: FAVORITE 3DS MEMORY. For me, honestly, while seeing that first bonus room in 3D Land that used the 3D really well sticks out, and just how great FE: Awakening was from start to finish, it’ll probably be for me StreetPass and all the trips to Best Buy just so I can finish my dang Pikmin 3D picture I’ll look at for a full 15 seconds. I know it’s a joke to some now, but StreetPass was really a great way to casually feel connected with your community. Sorely missed.
1)Launch 3ds 2)3DS XL 3)New Nintendo 3DS when I accidentally dropped my 3DS XL and the hinge eventually broke 4) Regular Japanese 3DS to play import games.
The dastards!! They can’t let any legacy happen for anything from the eshop, can they? It just ended and they’re already rubbing salt in the wound. Inhuman.
This is doubtlessly the right call. Obviously hardcore Melee fans would love it, but it would confuse the casual gamers and the bulk of parents buying Smash for their kids, which is a bigger chunk of its demographic than some want to admit.
The hardcore Melee players are still playing it anyway.
Japanese MM games stick to the same format of cramming all the bosses on the cover. Like it or not, seems like that’s Japan’s version of the golden Zelda boxes. I think they kept that up until MMX4.
I’m also just kind of shocked that Japan is winning so handily given the comments. I voted NA, despite not being a fan of either.
This is pretty nuts. It’s not the first time a big game has done something like this, but you can’t say Epic is resting on their laurels.
That said, the gun in that screenshot looks very centered, and AFAIK the game still favors right shoulder peek so… how did they reconcile this? I’m not going to play it, but it would be interesting to see some gameplay switching between both modes and see how it affects the reticule and aiming.
Not sure this is real… Why is the ESRB only in English and French when the rest of the box also includes Spanish translations? Not that that’s never happened before, and it may just be wishful thinking, but I’m a little suspicious of this thing’s authenticity.
Still a bummer for anyone who bought games off the Japanese eShop, like me. They said, I don’t know if there’s anything they have that i haven’t already bought on sale. As others have said, they’ve had very frequent sales on all their 3ds software long after the mainstream moved on.
@Barbiegurl777 At first, I thought “Did that come out here??” and then I googled it and one of the first results was that NL forum thread where you argued with that guy about how unpopular Doraemon is in the West. 😆
I saw you said you were going to play it in English, but also that you liked learning languages. I also use my Switch as a Japanese language learning tool, and get pretty upset when companies like NIS don’t let western releases be multi-lingual. I hope you’re enjoying the games!
If you’re playing Kaeru no Tame ni Kane ga Naru without knowing what the dialogue is, and still enjoying it, then you’ll pee your pants once you actually play a translated version. I can’t speak to the fan translation, but the in original Japanese it was a pretty funny game and so full of personality because of that great dialogue.
Castlevania II should get on this list, but I doubt they will since you can (and should) get the Castlevania Anniversary Collection.
This is a great list, except for Wario Ware Twisted. It’s one of the best Wario Ware games, but I cringe at the thought of trying to rotate that mammoth of a handheld and dropping it. 😰
Oh, Grassl! Great feature btw! This should definitely become a recurring feature as I imagine there are many fans like myself that want to know if there’s any more details about these exciting new releases, and especially for those who don’t watch the Japanese directs as well. Smashing work!
@nocdaes @Bunkerneath Natsumon is published from Spike Chunsoft, so that’s not a new first party Nintendo game.
Metroid Prime Remastered however IS a new first party game that happened to be shadow dropped. I don’t think you’re getting any Switch 2 news this year, but I could see next year be reveal and launch. I would like to be wrong though!
TotK has been six-ish years in development. This one justifies the price hike. Pikmin 4 isn’t $70 though, so we can see it’s not going to be totally standard for now… It will happen eventually though.

Re: Quiz: Can You Guess Which Game Industry Figures Said These Quotes?
I got 10! Had to do my best guess for a good chunk of those.
Re: Rumour: The Internet Goes Wild Over Supposed Persona 3 Remake Gameplay
@Orpheus79V This is a good point.
Re: Rumour: The Internet Goes Wild Over Supposed Persona 3 Remake Gameplay
The only major reason I question it’s legit is because I just can’t believe Sega would be interested in touching Jet Set again.
I do hope it’s real though, obviously.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Those zombies on the Europe one is what seals the deal.
Re: Can You Guess The Game From These Poor Descriptions?
@Kasparius Oh, the description after you put an answer. I see what you’re saying.
Re: Can You Guess The Game From These Poor Descriptions?
@Kasparius Does Q3 say it is the only game where he goes gooey? And the LM 3DS version isn’t one of the answer choices.
Re: Can You Guess The Game From These Poor Descriptions?
15/15. This was a fine waste of 5 minutes.
Re: The Mario Movie Has "Top Animated Launch Day Ever" In Multiple Countries
@kfflscnt I think you two are disputing net v. gross.
Like others here, I hope those who watched it enjoyed it and I look forward to seeing it down the line in some capacity or other.
Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Bros. Movie - A Fun Ride That Substitutes Story For Spectacle
I can’t think of anything else but how grammatical incorrect the headline is. Please fix it. 🥺

Re: Video: 10 Exciting Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In April 2023
Can “league” be pronounced “leej” instead of “leeg” in British English? He pronounced it both ways in the video.
As for the releases, interested only in Melon Journey and the MMBN Collection. Probably won’t get either any time soon.

@JohnnyMind Thanks!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Kirby's Adventure
Both good, but c’mon. It’s gotta be Kirby eating his own box art.
Why does the TM have an asterisk though?
Re: Feature: Nintendo eShop Selects - March 2023
Why is the poll for February? Need to get that March poll up so Paranormasight can get some love! 👻

Re: Rumour: The Infamous Phillips CD-i Zelda Games Are Being Remastered For Switch
April Fool’s 😒
I would be flabbergasted if this were true. Also, the timing would be poor. Why release two Zelda products in the same season if you don’t have to?

Re: Review: Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist Of The End & The Secret Key - A Perfect End To The Best Atelier Trilogy
I’ll definitely be picking this up down the line, since like nearly everyone else here, I have the first two Ryza games but haven’t played them.
I wonder where an Atelier hardcore fan would rank all the games.
Re: Countdown: Wii U eShop Spotlight - Duck Hunt

This is the best Mega Drive game, IMHO.

Re: Poll: Which Nintendo Switch Online Console Do You Play The Most?
SNES/N64 mostly, just like the polls show.
Lately, it’s just been the extra levels in SMA4:SMB3 on GBA.
Re: Best Star Fox Games Of All Time
Star Fox SNES shouldn’t be higher, but it should have a higher average than 7.71.
For those complaining about frame rate, go emulate SF with the speed patch and there you go.
Re: Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition Update Now Available, Here Are The Patch Notes

I’ll definitely get it when it gets to the right price, but it has never been on sale yet.
