FTL: Faster Than Light studio Subset Games' Into The Breach is available on the Nintendo Switch right now for $14.99, it has been revealed.
The turn-based strategy game was the surprise final announcement of a packed Nindies Summer Showcase, and follows up on a successful Steam launch earlier this year.
Set in a future where humanity is locked in deadly combat against hordes of monsters known as The Vek, Into The Breach places you in control of giant mechs which can be augmented with weapons and upgrades. Using these robots, you must defeat The Vek and defend humankind.

Wait it's available TODAY!!!
*Frantically searches for Wallet...
Interested depending on the price. Dunno when I'll find the time for it though with my copy of Monster Hunter arriving tomorrow and the million other games I need to play.
100%'d this game on PC. I urge everyone to give it a shot, it is the funnest roguelite (or like whatever) that I've played. Its barely even a rogue as all the replay value is actually tied into the game. God do I love it.
$14.99 according to Nintendo.com
I'm not familiar, but it looks great. I shall add this to my wishlist.
@NewAdvent I'm in exactly the same boat! Into the Breach was probably top of my unannounced indies want list, but I also have tons to play and am yet to start Octopath...
Looks like an old PC game. The gameplay looks interesting, but the graphics are a major turn off for me.
Wow, just got The Messenger but I can't say no to this.
This is dope news.
Holy crap. Very unexpected. Buying now.
Random generated levels... That's generally code for repetitive gameplay to me. I guess worth seeing what people think after it's out.
@Nehalem The game has been out since the spring so you can already see what people think! As someone who's played it, I can attest that its good. It's like chess with giant robots.
$17.50 in the Australian eShop. That's relatively cheap, I'm down.
Awesome news! This is pretty much a must-buy.
@Fake-E-Lee Drugs are in the dock, which is why the only want folks using their brand. Also explains the high price of a replacement dock.
Mmmm. This looks ace. Is it anything like advance wars? I’m in.
much excite. DL'ing now from work.
Love turn based strategies so on my radar but I need to finish Tiny Metal first (which is a great game that I highly recommend).
It’s only £5 on South African store. Bought
@CroRock Say no more Sir
Looks like Advance Wars meets Starcraft. Awesome.
Boy, this was the one game I was hoping they would announce. I would not have dreamed of an instant release. I really LOVE what Nintendo is doing with these surprises indie releases now. First, Bad North, which I had no idea was coming any time soon and I really enjoy and now Into the Breach, for which I barely dared hoping to see even a teaser. Really good stuff imho, I hope they keep this up. Downloading the game now ...
Yes. Add another to the backlog.
so getting this.
@ieatdragonz This game is not a roguelite, my friend. It is just a tactical game.
How long is the game?
@Lina-MG It is in the sense that the field, the drops and the unlocks are all somewhat random. You are correct though, it is a tactical game first and foremost.
If you are very lucky and pull through, the game is only 30 minutes at max. The real fun comes with trying it with different squads which all play vastly different. Some are much harder than others, but as you play, you learn more and more about them.
If that doesn't sound fun to you, trust me, it didn't at first to me either. I can understand how that would scare away some customers, but I would recommend it even as a die-hard single player petitioner.
Dammit Intelligent Systems and Nintendo.... where is the next Advance Wars???
I remember this game vaguely from Totalbiscuit (R.I.P.) 's review a while back on steam. It certainly seems interesting. I both like and hate the theme. I love sci-fi, but am long since sick of "aliens are mindless monsters" trope. Gameplay seems like a mix of tactics and puzzles. It reminds me enough of Fire Emblem and Advance Wars to make me also painfully aware of how different it is too.
I wish there were a demo.
Maybe, after I finish Front Mission 3 on the Vita.
This game is brilliant. Really, really fun. If you're a fan of Advance Wars, you will probably love this (although it is very different.) The ability to force your enemies to move around the map to launch them into obstacles is very fun, and I hope it becomes a standard in this type of game from now on. Also I have weird melancholy memories of playing this game a ton while eating ice cream and cheez-its and trying to get over a sort-of breakup. But that's not relevant. Should be perfect for Switch.
This looks unbelievably good. Probably buying this tonight!!
@NewAdvent I'd start this one first, octopath can be long as hell, so it could probably hold you over until the next big release you're looking forward to.
@Mykillvee I agree. The graphics are too poor for me to get excited. Too bad because turned-based strategy is normally my favorite.
If you skip this because of the art style then you're missing out on a fantastic game. Battles are short, so it's perfect for pick up and play, but it has lots of tactical depth.
@NewAdvent Tell me about it... I'm currently stuck in Hollow Knight in a place I'd like to call hell for the 7th hour, and I expect to be stuck here for quite a while longer.
This game likes tormenting me. Doesn't help that I can't find the map, and I of course have no directional sense (never had, I can still get lost on the way to my local supermarket, not kidding)
After that, I have Octopath, Iconoclasts and Okami to finish... I'm not gonna play this anytime soon, am I?
Yes, getting this. It goes into backlog alongside rest of Mercenaries Chronicles and World Conqueror X, but I feel like I might enjoy this one the most. I loved FTL and I was waiting for Into the Breach to be ported.
@NewAdvent Damn straight it is xD I have literally no idea how far into the game I am, currently at 52 hours and 1/3 dreamers. I'm probably not the most prepared though, I still only have 5 lives and a single soul gauge.
I like how unforgiving it is, but I'm also a bit annoyed with the labyrinthine layout, because it's absolutely impossible for me to figure out where I am or where to go xD and I'm stubborn so I refuse to "cheat" and look at a map online to figure it out.
Even though I probably should... Being lost for 7 hours isn't the funniest thing ever hah.
@CroRock
So it is! Sold.
Thanks very much.
@NewAdvent True, looking one thing up might not be so bad.
And it isn't like I'm struggling in Deepnest, it's more like... I'm lost. Legit lost. I'd love to go hunting for upgrades, but my issue isn't that I can't progress through the place, it is that I can't find the way out of Deepnest xD
Well progressing is hard too because I don't know where to go and everywhere ends up leading me to a dead end, but yeah
Played last night. LOVED IT. Then I did something I considered SO HORRIFIC that I deleted my profile and started an entirely new reality/profile. CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY MORE. When this game came out on PC I was so disappointed it wasn't available for Mac OS. The surprise drop yesterday was super welcome during this challenging week. I wish I was playing it some more right now and setting up for a long day of gaming. Gotta TCB at work first!
There's so much I like about this game and I'm excited to poke the corners some more.
So is this a roguelite? I normally don't like roguelite and roguelike...only if they have upgrades that make me stronger and I am able to overcome my bad gaming skills.
