10tons has been on a roll lately, releasing new games on an almost weekly basis on the Switch eShop. On 9th November it will be the turn of Spellspire, which will cost $9.99US.
Spellspire casts the player in the role of a nerdy wizard climbing a 100 level tower; plenty of monsters must be defeated and loot collected on the way. Combat uses a word game mechanic, where the player picks letters from a grid of ten to spell out words. These are cast out as spells, with longer words producing more powerful blasts. In between levels the player upgrades the wizard’s gear in the style of a role-playing game.

Take a look at the trailer above and let us know if you plan to pick this up next week.

Pretty fun way to work on your english vocabulary for us non-english speakers.
This really reminds of Letter Quest Remastered: https://youtu.be/cZYDP1df4Ug
Letter Quest Remastered was 'free' on PSPlus for Vita a good few months back. Is this new Switch game in any way related to it? They seem like, exactly the same?!!
Love this! Buying for sure!
Something along the lines of Letter Quest? That was a fun game, so I'll keep an eye out for this one.
Letter Quest Remastered was a much more fun game, as combat engagements in Spellspire are timed. Where I loved Letter Quest I find Spellspire frustrating and entirely grindy. The letter selection per combat doesn't change and you will need high level outfits, wands, and hats to progress to the end (as well as some quick thinking). They are both, at heart, spelling combat games ... but vastly different simply due to the speed of thought required in this one.
@Lroy they were both released on other platforms before so one is definitely a clone of the other. I wouldn't be surprised if they were both clones of another game!
@Lroy
This game is also on vita and Android
My daughter and I will love playing this game we had a blast playing letter question remastered very educational and still fun.
@MaSSiVeRiCaN I was about to write a similar thing but noted that the word “stoner” is there. Bit awkward trying to explain that one to my youngster
@KIRO 😂 So true! I just love watching whatever they can come up with some times it's real funny.
That actually looks pretty fun.
Stoner? Reeeally...
I'd prefer typing of the dead
Looks fun for a word puzzler. Will pick def pick this one up.
for some of these people on here a spelling game is going to be the hardest game theyve ever played.
thats a fact.
Letter quest clone.
This is a Bookworm Adventure ripoff.
I'll probably get it, but it's the same game.
@evilnatt
A friend of mine found ENGLISH OF THE DEAD at a thrift shop here in the U.S. and have it to me. Still one of the crown jewels of my gaming collection.
