Re: Review: Samurai Shodown IV (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

TheJamesHollan

@masterLEON also since you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about fighting games, maybe you can help me with this: I remember playing what I think was a 2.5D fighting game on PSX where you used weapons and could chop down the bamboo trees during a fight. Any idea what that game was? It might have been on PS2.

Re: Review: Garou: Mark of the Wolves (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)

TheJamesHollan

The only fighting games I've played outside of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat are Killer Instinct Gold, Mace: The Dark Ages, DBZ: Budokai, DBZ: BT2 & 3, and Naruto: CoNR 2 & 3, Bloody Roar, Soul Calibur, Tekken 3, and MvC2.

I would love to get into the Fatal Fury and other SNK fighting series. I would also like to see Guilty Gear, Blazeblue, and others show up on Nintendo consoles.

I haven't even played Tekken Tag Tournament 2 or Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Re: One Piece: Unlimited World Red Deluxe Edition Heading to Nintendo Switch in Japan

TheJamesHollan

I'd love to pick this up for the Switch... if I had a Switch. OP is my favorite anime and i saw One Piece Film Gold at Walmart the other day, but I couldn't get it because I was already spending $80 on three Metallica CD's (Load, Reload, & Hardwired... To Self Destruct) a printer, and One Punch Man. I may get it this weekend, though, along with Rings.

Is One Piece Unlimited World Red still available on the Wii U eShop?

Re: Feature: An Extraordinary Pokémon Trading Card Collection and a Life-Changing Sale

TheJamesHollan

I was never into any TCG games. One of my cousins was, though. He had about a binder full, but as far as I know he never did any tournaments because his mom didn't believe there was any use in it. The only time I got a trading card was when I bought an issue of Shonen Jump.

Now if we were talking about comic books, I was going through some of mine the other day and I found some from the early 1970's. One of which was Marvel Comics Group & The Electric Company presents Spidey Super Stories #1. I went to http://www.comicspriceguide.com and found that if it was in near-mint condition it could go for at least $40. Even more if it was graded, but I don't know how to get that done. As it is, though, I could get at least $20 out of it.

I have more from that same time period, too.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Enjoys Second Week At The Top Of The UK Charts

TheJamesHollan

I don't have a Switch yet, so I haven't played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe yet, nor have I played Prey because I also don't have a PS4/XBONE/gaming PC, but from what I've seen of Prey, it doesn't look very intense. I do love me some shooters, though. I have CoD Ghosts & Mass Effect 3 for Wii U and Quake 3 Arena & Unreal Tournament on my Dreamcast.

I would like to hear more about some fighting games coming to Switch. Wasn't there supposed to be a Blazeblue game coming to it?

Re: Nintendo Switch Smashes Target With 2.74 Million Hardware Sales in March

TheJamesHollan

I don't have a Switch yet. I don't even have the Switch version of BotW. Switch BotW was at my local Walmart from day 1, but they've been sold out of the Wii U version for weeks. I managed to get a copy of the Wii U version on eBay for $6 less than it's price in stores. These are great numbers, though.

On a side note, I can't wait for E3 to come around. Nintendo saying that they've mastered advanced game engines like UE4 has me really interested in seeing what they can do with it and they just might show off what they've learned at E3.

Re: Soapbox: All The Video Game Magazines You Grew Up With Were Rubbish

TheJamesHollan

@PlywoodStick I also still have an issue of Next Gen. It's the Metal Gear Solid 2 issue that says "We've played it. It's awesome!" and has over 100 pictures of the game. It's one of my favorite magazines in my collection because it has a huge article about how to start your own game development company and it has an interview with John Carmac and Kevin Cloud.

That article sort of goes with an article from a 2011 issue of Nintendo Power that I've got that tells what tool the professionals use to make games. I love stuff like that.

Re: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Has Almost One-To-One Attach Rate According To GameStop

TheJamesHollan

It's the kind of killer app that EVERY console needs. I just wish it could've come earlier in the Wii U's life.

That said, I bought it for Wii U off of eBay 2 days ago because I don't have a Switch, couldn't the game in stores, and downloading it isn't an option. So far I've seen a rainbow, a blood moon, the "Game Over" screen a hundred times or more, and I've just made it to Zora's Domain.

I'm lovin' it!

Re: Feature: A Chat About Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Evolution of the Franchise

TheJamesHollan

Good stuff guys. Even though I've seen lots of the videos and have studied the locations of some of the towers (I'm gonna run right past the old man and go for that first tower lol). Thanks for not spoiling anything that has not already been seen in videos and pictures.

Can you speak of the game's main menu? Does it still have Link riding across Hyrule, or is it something different now?

Re: Preview: Immersing Ourselves in the World of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

TheJamesHollan

@mateq That's cool. I saw on a few sites comparing the world of Hyrule to those of Skyrim and Witcher 3 and they said it was bigger than both (not combined) even with all their expansions, so it may have a comparable amount of towns and villages. They said it is 140 miles big. Still a little smaller than Xenoblade Chronicles X, though.

On the other hand, I really like the wide open areas and forests.
