Re: Disgaea 5 Complete Gets A Solid Release Date For Nintendo Switch

TheJamesHollan

I've never been a big fan of RPGs outside of the Legend of Zelda - I tried Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy X, but didn't like either of them. However I am tempted to give this one a try once I get a Switch for a couple of reasons: 1. You can't beat free DLC (if that's what the Switch version is getting). It was one of the main reasons I got Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition. 2. I really like the art style. It reminds me of the anime Soul Eater.

I might also try Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, and even though I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles or XCX, I'll still give XC2 a try.

Re: Updated Unreal Engine 4 Release Officially Adds 'Experimental' Nintendo Switch Support

TheJamesHollan

Of all the time the Unreal Engine has been around, I've only managed to experience 2 games and 1 demo that used it:

Unreal Tournament (DC)
Batman Arkham Asylum (demo on 360)
Batman Arkham City Armored Edition

I don't think I've played any Unity games yet, but I do have it on my computer - though I don't know how to use it and my computer isn't built for gaming anyways.

I do have Mass Effect 3 for Wii U, so I'd also like to see what the Cryengine can do on Switch. What version is it up to now and is it coming to Switch?

Also, what is Criware up to with regards to Switch?

Re: Nintendo Releases Updated Nintendo Switch Trailers

TheJamesHollan

I saw those two ads today during Monday Night Raw today. Their the only two Switch ads that I've seen so far on TV as I missed the Super Bowl ad.

With those three ads, I think Nintendo may have already outdone the marketing they did for Wii U. I only saw one Wii U commercial and one Bayonetta 2 ad.

Re: EA Confirms Vancouver Team Will Produce FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch

I don't really care for soccer, so I'm gonna go ahead and ask this:

With all the remasters being done lately, why hasn't Rocksteady announced a remaster of the Arkham series yet? Lots of Nintendo gamers never got to play Asylum or Knight. Hell, I've only played Arkham City: Armored Edition. Would love to see that come to the Switch.

And on that note, when is Darksiders Warmastered releasing?

Re: Feature: Nindies and Nintendo Switch - Developers Reflect on the New Console

TheJamesHollan

@john48062 lol my bad. I admit I didn't do my homework on most of that stuff. The first bit of electronics that had memory cards for was the N64 that I'd bought in the mid to late '90s, so I didn't know about them before then. I had a few accessories for it, though, like RAM Expansion Pack and a rumble pack that had an extra port for a memory card. Also, I'd not heard of Sega until my parents bought me the Genesis when it came out, but the only accessory I had for it was a 3rd party controller that had things like "turbo" and "slow motion". I think it was by Mad Catz.

My internet's been slow for the past week or so and on top of that the 4G network sucks where I live and I can only get the internet on my phone so I didn't really have the time to do the research.

Re: Feature: Nindies and Nintendo Switch - Developers Reflect on the New Console

I like that Nintendo is trying to do their own thing. It seems to me that Nintendo sort of opened the doors back in the '80s when they created a controller that had a d-pad and 2 buttons (instead of the Atari-style controller). Then Nintendo added the Z-Trigger, joystick, rumble packs, & external memory cards.

Then Sega and, later, Sony and Microsoft caught on, and started doing the same thing over and over and Nintendo decided to go their own way.

Re: Feature: 10 Intriguing Third-Party Nintendo Switch Games for Your Wishlist

TheJamesHollan

I haven't played any Bomberman games or the Fast games, but they do look interesting. Thanks to F-Zero and Star Wars Episode I Racer, futuristic racing games do hold a place in my heart.

I'm also going to get NBA 2k18. Not because I'm a fan of Basketball (because I'm not), but because I do want to see other 2K games - like WWE 2K and possibly some 2K football games - on Switch. And I'm sure Activision will be there with CoD.

Mostly, though, I'm really into fighting games so Ultra Street Fighter 2, Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2, Blazeblue, and yes even ARMS all have my attention.

@3MonthBeef you might try the Real Arcade Pro SW. I don't know if you've seen it yet, but there are leaked images of Hori accessories for the Switch.

There's also another company that's gonna be releasing Switch accessories, but I can't remember their name. Apparently they're making some pretty nifty little things that each individual Joy-Con will fit in, giving them their own hand grips for added comfort.

However, that all could just be rumors unless somebody can tell me if it's been confirmed.

Re: EA's Peter Moore Insists FIFA Switch Is "Custom Built" Following Last-Gen Engine Rumour

TheJamesHollan

I've never been a big fan of EA outside of their SSX games, but I think that if the Switch can run Unreal Engine 4 and Cryengine, then it should be able to run Frostbite. Then again, according to Armature Studios, even the Wii U and PSVita can run UE4.

Speaking of sports games, though, I'd much rather see what 2K Sports has to offer the Switch as I've been a huge fan of their football (American) games since the Dreamcast. Might even pick up their NBA game for the Switch. Does 2K Sports still make NCAA college football games?
