@pullmyfinger I don't buy by metascore but by my interest. I found Octopath excellent, the perfect continuation of what made 80's-90's great. Something many sorely missed.
P.S.: It's their loss (money), it isn't my loss (money). I can do without a game easily.
@pullmyfinger Nintendo won't pull out a demo, I will not risk my money with something that doesn't look at least fun. I'm somewhat a fan of JRPG (a big fan in SNES/PSX/PS2 periods), Octopath has conviced me before tryng the demo and delivered after playing it. I want that.
It's bad that they ignored Europe, anyway price is very appealing and one can take the chance to invest on a very big physical SD card instead. If price was full obviously it would have been just a game to skip.
It's one good game less for the shop window though.
@Thexare Nope, if you are reviewing something 'subjective' should be not. Otherwise anything can get a 1 and anything can get a 10. What you are referring to is 'tilt', but a game should not be reviewed by 'tilt'. Graphics, sound, etc. do count. Mechanics do count, etc. This would have been a shame in the '80s. No one would have cared for it in the '80s... now it's considered 'cool' by todays nerd population (like Isaac) but it will sell low in comparison to many games that actually deserves an 8, even with its low price.
@Pluto14 I had those times in my life. I'm somewhat old and played with those very old platforms and limited games, but would not pass any more time with this type of game. I would still enjoy simple platforms game or beat'em ups, not this. I would also not rate such a game so high. There are some games these days that gets too high undeserved rating, like this one and Isaac for example.
@Pluto14 Question: is it really cool for normals too or just for nerds? Because I don't really get the fun of it, eventually I'm not nerd enough. Looks like a 70's game, I would not put 2 cents on it.
I always ask why people is lamenting on that cover when I find it excellent, very 80ish. And old man with a banjo playing it while someone is fighting in the space. And the space is there, the ship too. Very 80ish. I like it.
Love how people remember the old greatness. Super Mario 64 is there as deserved, Sunshine is forgotten, and rightly so. Unfortunately I missed the Galaxy serie, eventually I'll recoup in the future.
I'm tempted on this one, but I think I will skip it.
The only unmissable fighters are KoF '96, Fatal Fury 3, all Real Bout, Samurai Shodown 2 and Last Blade.
Anyway Art of Fighting 3 is decent (plagued by mediocre animations).
@MsgBoardGamer The standard platform is the one with the least restrictions. And there nothing can beat a PC, but in the console department Sony has always been the standard platform, because of market penetration and very few restrictions regarding publishers. Now it's time for Nintendo to get all those games in their system too.
Finally we can have a system that do-it-all. Before Nintendo was just a second choice, now it will be the standard platform. Everything should be on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo games aimed at everyone and mature games from other companies. Anyway even Super Mario isn't anymore E, so something has changed inside Nintendo development too. Nintendo now understand that many players want to play with everything instead of being limited to something.
Sony eventually became enough arrogant to bicker with history, she wants to be known as the standard so it took many IP that were Nintendo bound. It started with Final Fantasy, now it's time for Secret of Mana. Well... at least that bit** of Square can still decide what to sell to who and for how much time.
@Arnold-Kage And Namco too isn't doing that good. Konami is dead so can't say anything on it. At least Capcom has already released SFIIU and it's ready for Monster Hunter. Only Nintendo, Squaresoft and Ubisoft are supporting it well. Squaresoft at least has announced good stuff while always betting on the platform.
@Arnold-Kage Still it will have a big market, not everyone will pay for it every year but the market will still be big. They should have announced all EA Sports games and some more. I don't mind about Andromeda and the likes, but their support has been so bad with nothing announced except FIFA and now Fe.
@Arnold-Kage They just have subpar managers that can't understand how to tackle a platform. The Nintendo Switch was an announced success, everyone would have seen it as a success, beside some weak managers. Eventually in 2018 they will recoup, but they're already seen badly by the gaming community, especially the Nintendo one for the lacking support. MXGP looking good.
It was a weak game, fair review.
No KOF '96, no Real Bout. There is nothing for me by SNK at the moment.
Well I didn't bought the Nintendo Switch for SNK games so it's ok, but I would have liked those two at launch when there were no games.
Definitely SNES. There is no point in being generous with SEGA. Super Mario World, Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, Chrono Trigger, F-Zero, Zelda, Super Metroid, Actraiser, Lufia, Breath of Fire. And I didn't liked Super Mario Kart. Even if the Mega Drive had some decent and few good games the SNES was just another league. A fairer match would be SNES against Amiga.
I'm playing more Splatoon than ARMS, but definitely it is a very good game that I like. It needs more minigames, skins, etc. Things to do and to achieve. It's the first game so it's understandable. Hope the IP will grow on the Nintendo Switch 2 with a big sequel, and hope they will continue to expand this first iteration. It has lot of charisma and potential.

@pullmyfinger Wrong person I suppose, it's not me who have said 'perhaps the greatest RPG of all time' and 'developers don't need your money'. lol
Re: Video: Xenoblade Chronicles 2's Combat is More Straightforward Than You Might Think
@pullmyfinger Haha, you are completely out of touch. lol

It looks so much boring. I would prefer just Octopath classic battle system (that's nice).

Re: Review: Chess Ultra (Switch eShop)
Even Battle Chess could have a new entry sometimes.
Re: Review: Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
@Pizzapasta Because it's better than... MotW is an overrated game, far worse than Fatal Fury 3 or Real Bout.
Almost fair review, though a 7 should be more appropriate. KOF 96, FF3 and RB are far better than this. I'm curious what they will get.

Re: Video: Bloodstained Development Team Shares New Footage
No charisma at all. Hope this isn't the sole protagonist, it just look as a game that want to look like SotN without its perfect setting.

@Shiryu Me do not.
Re: Review: The King of Fighters '95 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
@tourjeff I will buy only the '96. No real need for other KOFs. Still '94 is underrated.
Re: Review: The King of Fighters '95 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
@Captain_Gonru True. I like classic KoFs more and this '95 was good. They were good up to '98 (included).

Re: Review: The King of Fighters '95 (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
'96 is the best but '95 is good too. Rating is low for this site. Fair for other sites.

The runner part is what I don't like, I like slow pace explorative platformers a la Super Mario.
Well...
Re: Review: Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS)
10? Ridicolous. Really. Pocket Gamer had a more honest review.
Re: Review: Blue's Journey (Switch eShop / Neo Geo)
Too much hard on this game with this review, it isn't that mediocre as the score would suggest, it's actually a decent game. I still have it.
Re: Earthlock: Festival of Magic Wii U Release Date Confirmed Alongside Switch Teaser
Looks particularly good. The true heir to Final Fantasy?
Music score a little underwhelming, still seems to have everything else.
