@subpopz nailed it. So many people just want to talk their opinion at people rather than actually discuss, listen, and digest information. Its fine to have your preference and opinion but that doesn't automatically negate everyone else's.

@Cobalt I think its more personal as you mentioned. Or even situational. I imagine we are the same generation or close. I'm 41. I can easily focus on my work then change gears for lunch to relaxing and taking a break from work. In fact I think its very important to take that mental break from work. To imply that means the person can't concentrate on their work during their non break times is odd to me. It's never been an issue for my work performance.

In regards to my other situations I mentioned maybe you don't have gamer friends or family? My family and friends enjoy playing games together so family time and gaming time overlap for me. It just reinforces my point how the gaming situation is different for people and perceived value varies.

@Cobalt Enjoying the portability of the Switch is much more than the viewpoint of playing it on public transportation. I bring my Switch to work to play on breaks, on trips, and to family and friends' houses for multiplayer. I love that I can easily continue playing my game no matter where I'm at. I own a PS4 and Xbox One X but that's why I'm waiting for DQ on Switch.

Game looks great but I'll buy it on Xbox just so I actually have all 3 games on the physical media. I was turned off by only 2 games actually being included.
I get why Nintendo went with the format they did but it seems its still too expensive to be practical. Or game companies are too cheap to spring for the correct card size.

@faint I can see your view. It's all about perceived value. For me they are a great value simply do to superior emulation. I love the extras though.

@madmatt213 Well they did a Genesis version of that called Dragon's Fury and it's Technosoft so maybe!

@Medic_alert I hear you. Not a bad choice. But again I'm pretty sure they have different game lineups.

I'm all in on these! The collection coming out has some emulation issues that bug me. Also I don't think very many titles in the Sega Ages line are on the collection. I don't get the issue with price. There is a lot of effort going in to these releases to provide accurate emulation and extras. But to each their own.

@Medic_alert depends on how well you know how the game should sound and look and if you like extra features or not. That being said I'm pretty sure most Sega Ages titles they have planned are in the collection. Aside from Sonic.

I never grabbed it on PS4 or Vita so I'll be picking this up. I enjoyed the first game enough. Hopefully enough sales will be generated. I appreciate his honesty.

Overpriced. You only get 20 games and the controllers don't have analogue control. These systems on a chip are getting less value with every release.

Ugh..... this rehash better not be their 2d Mario game for Switch. I expect a new 2d Mario before the end of the Switch life cycle. I'm disappointed in Nintendo's laziness. This game is 6 years old and it was only OK to begin with.

Sonic 2 and Columns 2? We can do better than that..... move away from Sonic for these. They've been done to death! Outrun I'm all for but they need to bring more variety than Sonic. And that Thunder Force AC release better contain Thunder Force 3 for Genesis/Mega Drive because AC is the inferior version of 3. I'm still excited for most of these releases though.

@Lando I've been using the 8bitdo SNES controller for a while. Works great!

@Hylian_Ticipated Ugh.....30fps for a fighter is practically a death knell. I'm disappointed I cancelled my ps4 reservation for the Switch version. Thanks for the info though!

Lots of good content in the review but please comment on performance. That's especially important on a multi platform title.

@masterLEON I think I confused 40th anniversary with 40 games in my mind over time, lol. I knew Neo Geo wasn't in this collection and I am glad for that. Guess my complaint about game count is nullified but I'm still disappointed they won't all be on cart.

So yeah.... big time disappointment here. They've been promising over 40 games for this collection yet only 13 will be on cart and we have to wait who knows how long for the rest? Why release the thing before its finished yet? At least delay the cart until all games are included. This is pretty silly overall.

But will it Yuzo Koshiro?

Excellent list. I love video game history. I have many of these books but am especially partial to the Bitmap books. HGC101 books are a great value as well.

Super excited for this. Sega Ages series is going to kick butt. 8 bucks for a game that takes this many hours and has all the QoL improvements is a great value.

This has been known for months. I wish they would talk about the supposed "more" games they haven't revealed yet.

This direct finally made me care about Smash Ultimate. I love Castlevania and am pumped they included both Simon and my favorite, Richter! 34 music tracks and an amazing stage? Hell yeah!

I like the vibrant color palette. Gameplay looks fun too. I'm looking forward to it!

And here I am still waiting for my Holy Diver copy.....I need to be a games journalist! It looks awesome. I think I'll need to get Rtype also...

@Dayton311 Zaccaria Pinball is good. A few tables aren't that fun but there are some really good ones! I've bought about 4 of them so far. Good times.

I'm also looking forward to this release. I love pinball.

This game is very disappointing compared to the original PS4 game. Its very limited and dumbed down. I understand why because f2p but its still very boring. I was hoping it was a true sequel but alas.

@Silly_G I gotta say they have many IPs that have staying power. I understand your frustration with not getting the inexpensive collection. I was bummed at first. But I will say the releases for Switch will be emulated better and have more extras than that collection. You can also cherry pick your favorites. Plus it will include arcade and Master System with more systems (hopefully) in the future.

@JayJ I agree it would be great to get Saturn and Dreamcast titles because those rarely get reproduced.
I do disagree with your statement on the Master System though. There are many great overlooked games that have aged well and should be new for the many people that didn't own the system. Especially if they dip into the PAL releases.

@electrolite77 I think that collection is a great value and great for the average consumer. But not so much for people who really know these games.

@Tim_Vreeland You and I are of a similar mind in regards to these. M2 does amazing work on this kind of thing. Its worth it. In my opinion anyway.

@JayJ It's not just Genesis games though. Its arcade, Master System, and eventually Saturn and Dreamcast too. I'd love a collection too but M2 will put out some amazing conversions with extras not found on the cheaper collections.

@Cobalt I have a game room with a CRT and Thunderforce IV but I'm still down with this. M2 does amazing conversions. Sometimes convenience is worth the slight difference in presentation.

@Fake-E-Lee For sure. Gotta be open to change. I've flipped my opinion several times after getting more insight. We'll see how this ends up.

@Fake-E-Lee Good point. I'll change it to mean "so many comments on a minor thing." I get it though. Burnout on 80s nostalgia is real. My opinion is its fairly unobtrusive in this instance do to the art style.

lol. It looked more like the Camaro from M.A.S.K. than a Delorean to me. Anywho, game looks fun and I love shooters and synthwave. I'm in!

So they are charging 10 bucks more than the other physical releases of this and it doesn't even have all the games? Disappointing. I'll just get it on Xbox. I wanted this on the go but its just not worth it.

Almost bought this release for Xbox. Glad I waited it out. This type of game works best on Switch for me.

I like the look. I'll keep my eyes on this one.
