@Grumblevolcano I ended up with a 8 gb Wii U I bought at launch. It didn't take long to fill up that meager amount of space with virtual console games alone. Storage space isn't much better on ps4&xb1. With increased file sizes and mandatory game install's 500 gb goes fast. I recently purchased a 2tb external hd for my xb1 and I'm sure I'll fill that up as well.
I'm sure digital sales have affected retail outlets this gen. Sony and Microsoft have been pushing digital sales much more aggressively than the previous generation.I find cheaper deals online more often than local shops in my area.
@Jese_1 I want to enjoy Nintendo systems&games for many years to come. The company needs to have plentiful hardware/software sales for that enjoyable pastime to continue.
@dumedum Looking back at past Nintendo system's at the end of their lifespan says otherwise. The Wii U has peaked. It is what it is.
Ps4&XB1 have been on the market too long for Nintendo to take a wait and see approach. They need this system out ASAP with a strong launch lineup and as much positive pr as they can get.
Talk about missed opportunity. Snes or GBA 3d classic's could possibly sell as well as the mega drive 3d classic's. It seems the big N doesn't think it's worth the resources.
@Kiyata_Hamasaki It makes you wonder what was the point of releasing "new" 3ds. Not needing a cpp is nice for the few games that use it. The faster processor and stable 3d is great, but aside from Xenoblade what else is there? It has very few exclusives retail or digital that the regular xl couldn't handle.
@Einherjar Very true. I'm sure it takes way more effort to produce a 3d Classic game than a standard vc release. I've heard getting the 3d effect up and running is quite the task. Your example of Outrun's FPS performance explains that far more effort is put into these re-releases than just adding the 3d effect.
@Monado_III Just some fun bs to throw around. I worked for a public school district in OP Kansas. The superintendent had a salary that was superior to that of the Vice President of America Joe Biden.
@AsianDomination Im sure a multi billion dollar company needs you to defend them.
Try having your New 3ds that you bought at launch not work properly. Try waiting from February till June to get it fixed. Only thing is NOA said they couldn't find the problem with my 3ds. I even had a manager ask me stop calling after the fourth repair.
The problem was a defective sd card. NOA has a repair team of individuals who's intelligence far exceeds my own and they couldn't find the problem. A problem the repair team apparently couldn't find on their own even though checking the Sd card for defects is part of the repair process. NOA just kept sending me a new 3dd unit with the same defective card in tow.
NOA is a joke for more reasons than just a lousy DL week.
@Mus1cLov3r I don't complain every week. I just call it like I see it. NOA is probably the weakest branch of the company. I can assure you it took more than a lack luster vc for me to loose all faith in NOA.
@Kage_88 Your facts add up. There is no questioning that. I still wonder how much longer the handheld market will be a viable source of income for Nintendo. Smart phones changed the HH market forever. More and more kids are growing up without nintendo portables as parents just get the children smart phones on a family plan. The 3ds probably won't reach DS numbers in its life time how much better will it's succesor fare?
Despite the xb1's rocky start, the system still managed to reach Wii U numbers in half the time. It's selling better than the 360 at that point in its life span. I would imagine the install base will get another healthy jump with a Halo 5 bundle this Holliday season. Just look at the PS3. It started out weak and ended strong. I was hoping for a similar situation with Wii U, but it looks like that ship has sailed.
What really amazed me is how well the PS4 is selling. Nintendo and Microsoft have their work cut out for them.
Phil Spencer was just what Microsoft's gaming division needed after all the damage Don Mattrick did to the Xbox brand. I definitely think he's helped generate some positive buzz in the XB community.
Nothing wrong with complaining about a crappy week people. There is absolutely no reason for zero vc releases. It's not like NOA has all the responsibility that NOJ has.
If people just passively excepted everything a company did the Xbox one would still be bundled with kinect.
@primeris I enjoy re2 more. It's difficult to compare both games, as they control differently. I thought revelations was better than re5, but not as good as re4.
@Meaty-cheeky Reggie is having a tough time running NOA. There is no way NOJ would put him at the helm. Iwata probably made the right choice by becoming the head at NOA. Reggie is a pr guy and nothing more .
@TheRealThanos Thanks for the history lesson. I was throwing casual gamer around just like a fanboy label. I think I have a better understanding of the term now.
@kensredemption So, what does casual crowd mean to you? Folks that game on MS&Sony systems have quite the large genre of games to choose from. Software sales are healthy on those platforms.
I always thought that the casual gamer was the majority of Wii owners. The people that never picked up on console gaming before that system. The people that bought the system and where more than happy with the pack in wii sports game and did little to support all the software said system had. The same people that left nintendo in favor of smart phones and tablets and never looked back.
@Morph I think you have a good point there. NOE has improved big time under Shibata's leadership. NOA just hasnt been up to par since Howard Lincoln departed.
@buildz Our console? You make it sound like choosing between MS and Nintendo is like choosing between being catholic or Protestant. I have Wii U and Xb1 and enjoy them both.
@The_Dude_Abides I have my own issues with Nintendo. That doesn't mean that the company lacks the ability to make great games. MS and Sony have their faults as well. It is what it is.
If you really hate Nintendo so much then why bother posting on a nintendo fan site? Just continue to not support the company as you have since the GC day's.
@triforcepower73 Why wouldn't Nintendo save Zelda as a launch title for the next system. The company needs some strong launch titles to accompany NX to avoid another Wii U launch.
They can still deliver the game on Wii U at a later date. As a Wii U owner I don't like the idea, but from a business stand point launching NX with a Zelda title makes sense.

Re: Nintendo Continues to Consider the Prospects of the Movie Industry
I enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat movie. One of the few times Hollywood got it right.
Re: Poll: Is Pokkén Tournament The Wii U Release You've Been Waiting For?
@Will-75 I've enjoyed everything Nintendo since the nes day's as well. I also never got into Pokemon. Guess it's time to give Rumble World a go.

@SakuraHaruka Point taken.
There's a fine line between constructive criticism and just being overly negative. You're certainly not the first person to call me out on it.

@retro_player_22 All good points.

I still prefer physical copies whenever possible.
Re: Pokémon Brawler Pokkén Tournament Coming To Wii U Early Next Year
@Ryu_Niiyama I just hope SFV support's PS3 fightstick's. TE stick's are pretty pricey and the one I currently own works fine.

@Einherjar At least Sega has kept the 3d Classic line alive. Nintendo gave up on it after a few titles. 3d Snes would have been amazing.

It's not even funny how much NOA sucks nowadays.
