It's good to finally hear the reasoning behind the slow VC releases. That's all I wanted from Nintendo regarding the service. It may not be the response I wanted to hear, but at least the company addressed the fans.
@Quorthon Ive purchased three 3ds units. Wanted the xl for a bigger screen. Wanted "new" 3ds for the extra buttons&nub the hardware should have had to begin with. Gave the other two units to my friends so I'd finally be able to enjoy smash&mk with them since the cube era.I don't think I've ever purchased three versions of the same hardware ever. I won't be doing it again.
After the Wii U I resolved I'd never be a day one adopter of Nintendo hardware again. Aside from some excellent first party games the system was a let down to say the least. You're aware of the system's shortcomings, so I don't need to go into that.
I feel like I've been burned with my Wii U. I've spent quite a bit of cash on digital/retail games, and now the system is done.I sure don't feel like I got my money's worth like I did with ps3&360.
Nintendo keeps saying they've learned from past mistakes, but in not convinced of that. And I can assure you I won't be blindly rushing out to purchase NX come launch day.
@JaxonH You made some good points. We all got into this hobby because it's fun. I think some people can loose sight of that. I'm certainly guilty of it from time to time.
@shani why? Just because 2d Zelda games don't have the same graphical detail of their 3d counterparts doesn't make them any less of a game. At the end of the day all that matters is that it's a fun game. Mario 3 isn't Mario Galaxy, but that doesn't mean the game is no longer enjoyable for people because its (old) or that it doesn't have the benefit of being built on current hardware.
@Hotfusion That's a harsh pill to swallow, but there is some truth in what you said.
I've been on the fence with Nintendo since this generation began. The next system will be the first time I'm not a day one adopter of a Nintendo console.
I'm just wondering what audience they plan on going after with their next console. The core gamer? Casual gamer's? I agree that the current fan base isn't large enough to support the company long term, but who else is going to line up at best buy six hours before NX releases?
@shad0w-7 Its what happened to previous Nintendo systems. I don't see any new software releases for the Wii, the console that dominated the 360&ps3. Digital and retail games have slowed down on ps3&360, but after nearly a decade of gaming on said systems , I feel like I got my money's worth.
@khaosklub MM 9&10 where excellent budget titles. As a MM fan I really enjoyed them.
I think you're on to something with the lower budget games. I'd buy a 2d Metroid that was episodic in a heartbeat. It would demand less development resource's and would please long time fan's. It would be something! I'm surprised Nintendo didn't think of this themselves.
@k8sMum I agree. I feel like I'm getting burned with the Wii U. As soon as the next system is out the big N will drop most if not all support for the U. I haven't had the system nearly as long as my 360&ps3 ( which still are being supported),and I'm not going to jump out of my seat to purchace the next console. Not after I supported the U through the droughts. The lack of third party support. The lack of listening to the fan's or anyone else outside the Nintendo corporation.
I'll be waiting awhile to see how things play out with the next console, because I'm not doing the Wii U scenario all over again.
@rockerztonight1 I know I have no interest in a AC MP clone. Federation Force could be fun, but I'll wait for a review before I snag it.SFZ could be fun. The graphics thing doesn't bother me, but If it's too easy or short It will be beyond dissapointing.
I just get the feeling that all of the games people wanted to see are in development for the next system. I'm just guessing about that, but aside from everything we where aware of before hand, Nintendo's e3 just seemed like a couple of small quickly produced offering's to hold Wii U owners over for a little while. It's no big secret fans wanted to see new core installment's in AC and Metroid.
I think it's safe to assume most fan's do know what they want, regardless if it's new or old.
@icedude545 I recently went back and played OOT on my GC to compare it with the 3ds version. "new" 3ds xl may not have a massive screen, but the game looks vastly better on the handheld.
@dethmart Really? That much better than Nintendo E3? It's like being excited about the gba version of Super Mario World. OOT. Another version of a game already available on wii and 3ds digital stores.
I've got a feeling NA will see this before Zero Mission. It's great for those who don't own the 3ds version, but since I do, I'll have to give this a pass.
@Fee Thats what they have been doing the last two generations. I'm sure Nintendo's mentality won't be changing because of the Wii U's lack of success. On to the next gimmick!
@Mr-X9000 Not surprised at all. I don't expect to see 3ds vc anytime soon if ever. The only retro goodies I've been looking forward to is Sega's 3d classic's.
I was really hoping that my "new" 3ds would see some snes or gba games. I figured any hardware limitations that would prevent said roms from running properly on old hardware wouldn't be a issue on the "new" system. Wishful thinking I guess. Even if "new" 3ds could run snes or gba games Nintendo would probably release virtual boy games on it and then stop after three games.
@khaosklub Anyone who spent the cash buying both versions probably won't freak over eight dollars. It's not like the dlc is needed to play the game. Don't care for Ryu? Dont buy the dlc.
@LUIGITORNADO NOA certainly has communication issues. My new 3ds was in and out of repair since it's feb launch till now. I kept getting a error message In the middle of my gameplay sessions and NOA said their tech team couldn't figure out the problem. I even had a manager request that I cease calling them since no resolution could be found.
The problem was a defective memory card. A service rep for NOA said that checking the sd card was a standard procedure in the the repair process. I even asked them if they had checked the sd card for defects but it seems obvious that they didn't.
communication at its worst. I lost so much faith in the company after that whole ordeal.
@Project_Dolphin All great games. I agree with you there.
It just seems like Iwata is your best friend and you would go to any extreme possible to defend him.
This is a company that has milked it's most loyal fan base with multiple iterations of the same hardware. Is now taking part in dlc practices. A company that is dropping support of the Wii u when it only survived a fraction of the time of the 360 and PS3. I spent a @ss load of money of my wii u and all the digital & retail games I've purchased since it's lack luster launch. I've bought 3 3ds units and gave the other launch unit and xl unit to my friend's so I'd finally have friends to play Mario kart with since the game cube days.
It really bothers me that you think Nintendo is any better than Microsoft or Sony.
@Project_Dolphin Way to show you're better than the XB&PS fanboys.
I'll admit a bulk of the users on those platforms only care about FPS titles. But there are plenty of gamers that enjoy the other genres these system's have to offer.Just like there where probably quite a few Nintendo fan's who support a game like Bayonetta. Just not the majority of Wii U owners. It seems like a similar problem on both sides to me.
@Seanmyster6 Yeah, it's been pretty boring in brown&grey FPS console land. You should check out the ps3&360 library. Plenty of classic console and arcade games. Plenty of indie games. Its not like all XB and ps fans only play shooters.
@Project_Dolphin Both sides are missing out. I'm quite happy with my Wii U and X Box one.
I'm not into XB&Sony systems to play Dude bro shooter's. Action/adventure games like Tomb Raider are good fun In my opinion. Forza Horizon 2 is a great racer. I also enjoy good smaller budget games like Ori and the blind forest. You act like there is nothing but garbage on the twins.
I've always loved Nintendo's first party games, and have continued to support the company for those games. I bought games like Bayonetta and W101 for the U, I just wish there where more titles like that on the system.
I love my Wii U, but I need more than just Nintendo first party games. I'm looking forward to Arkham Knight. I can't wait to play the next Fallout. Only having a Wii U would severely limit my gaming experiences.
@ElkinFencer10 If enough people bought games like this on Wii U, I'm sure 3rd party's would be more confident in spending the money and resources on a Wii U port. Same thing applies to Resident Evil games.
@kereke12 Not so sure about Nintendo being the Disney of gaming.
Sure, Nintendo is a creative company that makes fun games, but they don't have the same following with children that they once did. There was a time when a new Nintendo system would launch with a Mario game, and every kid had to have that system. The Wii U tried that formula and it didn't have the same impact that it did with past generations.
Disney is another can of worms entirely. The company doesn't rely on Micky,Donald, and Goofy to push sales anymore. They have Marvel and Lucas films to cater to kids. The company has managed to stay as relevant as ever with today's youth. Kids are just not as crazy about Nintendo as they where with previous generations. I certainly hope Nintendo can change that with the next system.
@kingofthesofa I wouldn't want Nintendo to completely copy MS or Sony, but Nintendo has lost much relevance in the gaming industry as Yorumi pointed out. The Wiiu has been a great system for Nintendo fans and myself, but the system has struggled to catch on with consumers regardless if it's core gamers or children. What if the next Nintendo system sells like the Wii U? Should Nintendo just stay the course and continue to do things the same way they did with the last console and hope the rest of the gaming consumers outside the fan base decide to jump back on the bandwagon? Taking a page or two from your competition is what makes a better product. It's why PSN is the great service it is today.
@Donutman Yeah, the majority of the gaming community and myself are complete moron's for subscribing to psn and xbl. I've been gaming since the nes and enjoy Nintendo as much as MS and Sony. You know what hasn't changed over time? This has always been a expensive hobby. The fact that someone could spend hundreds of dollars a year on games and complain over a 50 dollar fee that you pay once a year just makes some gamers sound cheap. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.
Thanks for the kind words. I've been having the exact same issue that you described. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who experienced this problem. At least i know how my situation will be resolved.

Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd July (North America)

Nothing for me. No need for OOT when I own it on 3ds.

Sonic 3 3D would be awesome. If it ends with 2, I'll still be content.
