Move over Minions, it's Super Mario's time to take over McDonald's Happy Meals in the UK. From 12th August anyone who buys a Happy Meal will be treated to a Super Mario toy, starting with a Mario Visor and a Yoshi toy. A reader who wishes to remain anonymous shared these photos with us.
This follows a similar promotion from March last year, but we understand the range of toys will be different this time. We understand more information will be released later this week detailing exactly what toys will be included across all the weeks of this promotion.
We'll leave you with our Super Mario McDonald's Happy Meal unboxing from 2014, which we consider to be a high-point in our journalistic careers so far.

This actually makes me want to eat at McDonalds (haven't stepped into a McDonalds in years!).
I don't understand why this is necessary, what is the customer doesn't have anything Nintendo related
LOL! Really? And @Squid_Gangster I didn't know this was a youtube comment section.
I'll be in Maccy d's a lot in August/September by the looks of it
@TwilightAngel jealous, much?
@MikeW Don't do it man. You know it's not worth it.
Nintendo life has deleted my comment stating I was first
I bought them all last time (didn't buy the food), but amiibo are pretty much happy meal toys so I can't see myself having the same interest this year!
Nintendo marketing ^_^ Keep going Nintendo, and when xenoblade Chronicles X releases than market it more than call of duty
I already have so many amiibo, I don't think I need Happy Meal toys too.
@CTs_Lieutenant after reading the community rules, I have no interest with arguing with a hater like you before I get suspended. Why would you want my comment deleted? What did I say that was wrong. Treat me with respect the same way you would treat byou family and friends. Don't ever reply to me again or I will report you.
@Squid_Gangster ? I didn't say that my comment was towards the one with the toad avatar not you.
@TwilightAngel oh...my bad. Sorry
@CTs_Lieutenant I clearly stated don't reply or I'll report you. What was wrong about my second comment which makes you say you hope it gets deleted? Go read the community rules again. We are debating on something that has nothing to do with the topic of the article. Don't reply again
@CTs_Lieutenant oh, so now this is about those happy meal toys? You're saying my honest and respectful opinion should be deleted?
Nothing I said is wrong either, and twilight isnt a hypocrite. For the last time, dont reply again. I dont wanna get suspended because of you
I do wonder why Nintendo is doing this? More exposure for their IP'S and characters? Maybe? Or their doing it cause those dollars signs appeared in their eyes?
@CTs_Lieutenant when did I ever say McDonalds isn't worth an amiibo promotion? Stop lying
@TwilightAngel for this to work properly, the McDonalds enployess will have to ask the customers if they have a Wii u or 3ds. If they don't, random 4 year olds will be treating amiibo like a doll and chew on it. If are a Nintendo fan, you most likely at least heard of amiibo or saw it in a store by now. This business move isn't rational, in my opinion
MARIO IS INVADING HAPPY MEALS UK ONCE AGAIN
A Splatoon one would have been better.Stick a fillet o fish on a bun and call it a Squid Burger.Kids will become curious and demand a Wii U to see what it's all about.it would have worked with a young me anyway.
That Squid is definitely a kid now
@Squid_Gangster It doesn't include any amiibo though,not sure where your getting that from?
@Squid_Gangster Best why to stop someone replying is by not replying yourself otherwise all you do is fan the flames. (Jazzer)
No Luigi?
YES! This is the most newsworthy reveal I have heard all MONTH! Bless you for answering my prayers, Nintendo!
@Shigulicious
Eheheheh... Took me a second.
Why do I always comment twice in a row? I must be pretty impulsive.
No matter how many cool presents to give with those "happy" meals...I'm not eating that nasty stuff, and neither are my kids! Luckily, they don't even like it, so that's good.
The face on the side of the box terrifies me.
Now I just have to decide whether the toy is worth going to a McDonald's.
The picture of the Happy Meal blowing the whistle is quite unfortunate. The overalls make the cheeks look like breasts.
I don't know if I'll get the Mario toys if they hit Australia, but I'd be all over that Roald Dahl stuff.
I would hate to be the folks in those suits...I would have dropped all that food all over myself with those huge gloves.
I don't see why everyone hates McDonald's... Their fries are amazing.
@Squid_Gangster But... the kid's meal toys aren't amiibo...
I think that Mario Meal unboxing was the first time I saw the faces of Nintendo Life
Nintendo fans do love cheap plastic tat, so yeah it makes sense....
@Ichiban Welp, at least our console doesn't break the bank, compromise FPS for 1080p graphics or only just introduce backwards compatibility 2/3 years after launch.
I can agree though - these are going to be absolutely terrible. I would do the poop emoji, but that's not allowed.
I love McDonalds. Hopefully these come to the US.
@nesvc I've always been more of a Krusty Burger guy.
@buildz Our console? You make it sound like choosing between MS and Nintendo is like choosing between being catholic or Protestant. I have Wii U and Xb1 and enjoy them both.
