Sure hope things change with the next system.I wonder if nintendo will expect us to re-buy all Virtual Console games at the pace of one game a week all over again? Between this, and NOA saying they may not be able to repair my "new" 3ds, I'm beginning to care less and less.

@Malakai And where are all those people that made the wii a commercial success that it was? They sure as hell ain't enjoying the wiiu with the rest of the nintendo community.
How where third party's supposed to treat the wii? Third party's are not going to jump through flaming hoops to port games to a system that had GCN power under the hood.Especially when nintendo makes no effort to work with these dev's, and just releases a system without asking for any kind of feedback.

@Mus1cLov3r You make many fair points. No company can take a few individuals complaints as if their business depended on it. I was under the impression that many where unhappy with the state virtual console is in, and not just me. I do believe that nintendo doesn't take consumer/fan feedback as Microsoft and Sony do. look at the launch of the PS3 and Xbox one. Both systems where in major trouble in the beginning due to arrogance and assuming they knew what gamers wanted more than gamers themselves. They listened and turned their troubled situation around. I want to continue supporting nintendo,so I'll see what the next systems have to offer and improve on.

@Mus1cLov3r True.If there was more retail games I wouldn't care, but there isn't. I bought the dlc, as I love MK8. I play it all the time. Asking for vc games is not a big deal. I'm not asking for a AAA full budget game here, though nintendo could use a few more of those. Im asking for more than one vc game a week. seems likes simple request to me. Unless, it takes a massive amount of time, resources, and money I don't see how it's such a major request. If things look the way they do now on nintendo's next system, I won't be around to complain anymore. If Microsoft or Sony ignored their fans like nintendo does, I'd drop my support for them as well.

@Mus1cLov3r Old roms that take very little resources to emulate is not too much to ask for.Psn&capcom got Megaman x4&x5 out a week apart shortly after its announcement.Nintendo seems to believe that drip feeding vc is a brilliant marketing strategy.

@majinx07 That's what get's to me more than anything else. They clearly don't listen at all. Is it really that difficult to go on FB,Twitter, or any of the other countless social media outlets to explain why they do what they do? Does Nintendo even investigate sites like NL or GI to get insight on what fans want or would like to see? I think NOA is just tired of complaints and let's it roll off their shoulders. I think the bigwigs at NOJ are so set in their ways, and detached from the rest of the world, and the current gaming industry, that they're not even aware that some fan's are really disappointed with the way Nintendo has been doing things.

@rdrunner1178 I feel the same way. I own Mario kart 7&8. Why would I even care about MK ds? I was hoping for zero mission or sonic advance. This whole one game a week has bothered me since I purchased my wiiu and 3ds. I'll bet it's a NOJ decision. Factor in NOA being horrible at selecting games to put the icing on the crap cake. There are multiple reasons why ill be taking a wait and see approach with nintendo's next console. This just happens to be one of those reasons.

Beating this dead horse again I see. Nearly everyone here defending Nintendo because they are within their legal rights. What's so wrong with this? I'd imagine anyone who went to the effort to create a hd sm64 is a bigger fan than commenters on NL.This wasn't going to hurt nintendo at all. This was free to play and not being sold for a price. Nintendo's marketing has failed to create any buzz lately and many saw this as a positive fan made project that would gain some much needed attention. I remember all the hate on here when anyone brought up Nintendo games being on smart phone devices and it seems nearly everyone is ok with it now. Some people will defend NOJ and the mistakes they make no matter what.

@DarkKirby If the launch of the next system is another "unique idea" that doesn't entice the public/gamers or isn't developer friendly, I see Iwata being forced out.
Yes, Iwata did much for Nintendo with system's like the GBA,DS,and WII, but lately, I feel like he's been hurting the company more that helping it. It seems like NOJ has ignored all the strides gaming has made with online services over the last ten years. This obsession with innovation above all else has done nothing but drive away gamers and third party studios. And the fact they seem to ignore the fan base really annoys me the most.
I won't be rushing to BestBuy when the next Nintendo platform releases. I'm taking a wait and see approach next time, as I'm not going through this again with the big N.

@BinaryFragger Ive always considered the virtual console service a perk and not a selling point for a Nintendo console. It shouldn't be a main focus but Nintendo's NA/EU counterparts don't even treat it like a third rate service.Wiiu&3ds vc pales in comparison to the wii shope. Hell, NOJ vc makes the NA/EU shope look like a lazy effort in comparison. Playing old games shouldn't take priority over a new experience, but it's not like wiiu and 3ds have much outside of a lite sprinkle of 1st party games and a few indie games. I purchase games like Affordable Space Adventures and Shovel Knight, but I have dozens of indie games in addition to third party support on my Xbox&Playstation systems. In comparison Nintendo systems look a little barren, so I don't see why something that requires such little effort like emulating old roms that would appeal to decent sized audience that grew up playing these games is such a bad idea? Maybe I'll enjoy playing Mario Land 2 or Links Awakening 15 years later.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th April (North America)

@BinaryFragger I grew up playing games since the nes. I guess that makes me ancient. I don't own gb,gba, nes, snes, or gg anymore,so I enjoy playing games I haven't picked up in years. I'm not a developer and don't know how to create a game, but i'd imagine it takes very little resources to emulate roms on a modern console. I had a buddy that burned 60 games a disk for my dreamcast. One person did this and not a team of twenty people. There are more older gamers today than there have ever been, and something as simple as VC is a easy please for the audience that appreciates it.
