Re: Soapbox: The Nintendo Switch Lite Has The One Thing I've Been Waiting For All This Time

Sun_wukong

The D pad returns is always welcome, but TV out removal, however they position it, is a bummer... if you remember the Nintendo DS Lite, there are no downgrades in comparison to the original DS.

Morevover, since they mention its still possible to play in multiplayer table-top mode on the Switch Lite with additional joycons, having people to squint their eyes on an even smaller screen doesnt make any sense.

Re: Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster Are Both Included On The One Game Card In Southeast Asia

Sun_wukong

There was a displeasure among South East Asian (SEA) Switch gamers on how Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna - The Golden Country release was handled. The root cause of the problem is that as SEA region dont have an official Switch Eshop (for me, i need to use USA or Jap region to download/ purchase games), there is no way that the XB2’s DLC download code can be redeemed in the region, so Nintendo left the download code out in the game. More info below.

https://nintendosoup.com/customers-outraged-at-maxsofts-compensation-for-missing-xenoblade-2-torna-dlc-codes/

It is highly possible Bandai Namco wants to avoid all the outrage that happened for XB2, that they include 2 games on the card for this HD remaster, without the need for DL codes. And for those who are wondering, SEA region games will be fully in English.

Re: Talking Point: Come In Nintendo 3DS, Your Time Is Up

Sun_wukong

With the 3DS winding down it also burys some of Nintendo’s baffling decisions on the system.

1) Region locking (a infamous first for Nintendo’s handheld)

2) Some SKUs not (widely) available for some regions (Eg. Standard size New 3DS for North America)

3) Resistive touchscreen (3DS was released at the point where almost all phones, Vita had a more sensitive capacitive screen)

But... still i loved my 3DS, and it will be missed!

Re: Guide: How To Unlock Mew In Pokémon: Let's Go On Nintendo Switch

Sun_wukong

“The ability to claim your gift of Mew may be discontinued at some point after the initial sales period of the Poké Ball Plus.”

This... can anyone enlighten me on what it actually means? Do they mean if the collection of Mew in PokeBall Plus is discontinued, we may be able to claim it from other source eg. Pokemon Go??

Re: Nintendo "Looking At" VR Technology, But It "Has To Be Fun" Before Being Implemented

Sun_wukong

Here's a documentary produced by Channel Newsasia on Nintendo, on how it makes a comeback from some of its failures (including the Virtual Boy). It does state at the end of the video that it is researching on VR technologies, which is in line with what Reggie says. Though its not all correct in its facts, its quite an informative video with insightful interviews with ex-employee of Nintendo.

Re: Feature: The Full Story Behind Star Fox 2, Nintendo's Most Famous Cancellation

Sun_wukong

Finally, a long drawn but fulfilling conclusion for the whole StarFox 2 saga! A game 22 years in the making.

"Cuthbert is keen to point out that this version is far superior to the numerous leaked prototype ROMs which are currently doing the rounds on the web - the leaking of which has been erroneously attributed to himself. "There are a few ROMs on the net in various conditions," he states. "But the ones I checked out are all old and they don't have the randomizing Rogue-like stuff working or all the encounters in place, so you don't really get the feel of the game we were making.""

Can't wait to try the final release version with everything cool mentioned by Cuthbert. His team's hardwork has fortunately not put to waste.

Re: Nintendo Badge Arcade Receives Its Last Set of Badges in Japan Later This Month

Sun_wukong

One of the buggiest game I've ever played. On my old 3ds, the load times are horrible. many instances as I enter into the game, it will say file corrupted and need to re-download my game info from server. However, just recently it has stopped working altogether, even when I tried to delete and reinstall the game, it refused to start... and there goes my 1000 over badges -_-

Re: Hong Kong Pokémon Fans Protest Over New Translation Issues with Sun and Moon

Sun_wukong

@Maxz China has a few phonics based writing system, one of them is Pinyin (拼音). Using romanized aalphabets, it is used in many street names in China (together with its Chinese names) and teaching purposes. However, its application is mostly limited to those mentioned uses. Moreover, it can only be used in Mandarin, while Cantonese dialect requires a whole new phonics system as of the greater variation of the tonal voice.

Re: Hong Kong Pokémon Fans Protest Over New Translation Issues with Sun and Moon

Sun_wukong

@coolaggro Totally agree. The spoken Chinese language has many dialects, more than 10 including Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka... (I live in Singapore, which has Singaporean Chinese from these dialect groups.. and even more in Mainland China). However reasonable (or politically motivated) the Hong Kong people's desire of a proper Cantonese translation, they should consider the general goodwill that Nintendo is doing for its Chinese consumers (simplified and traditional Chinese is good enough), and not demanding something too absurd. Imagine Nintendo has to do translation for 10 different Chinese dialect because of it.. It is truely an overkill!!!

Re: Analysts Weigh in on Nintendo's Successes and Failures with amiibo

Sun_wukong

With Nintendo finally creating smartphone games and apps, I think they should make Amiibos work with certain smartphones and tablets that have NFC connectivity. Use it for the functions similar to what New 3DS and Wii U is doing right now, but on smartphone games. It'll definitely broaden amiibo's usage and appeal.

Re: Video: Rare Shows Off Footage of Dream, The Banjo-Kazooie Predecessor That Never Saw Release

Sun_wukong

It really feels similar to the development story of Dinosaur Planet which was then revised to be Starfox Adventures. Both games are developed in the transitioning of the console generation (SNES to N64, N64 to GC) and had a heavily altered game content.

However, Banjo is more of a refinement from Rare itself, while Starfox Adventures is caused by Miyamoto's inputs which Rare has to unwillingly follow.
