@AlexOlney this is a sad state of affairs. That’ll be even more in Canada. I was very excited to play 4 and RE REmake on my Switch but I won’t do it for that price. Both are on my Xbox and with how many quality games are floating around it’s hard to justify $70 for two old games.
How about a stable 30 FPS? I haven’t played in months but last time I did I found it unplayable in docked mode, and reasonable in handheld but not stable.
One thing that Reggie was a bit notorious for in my eyes was very underwhelming announcements. Perhaps the investors think that him retiring is a good thing that opens the door to someone who isn’t so prone to holding their cards so close to the chest. The Cranky Kong announcement is one particular example and honestly I think Nintendo dropped the ball at the game awards with their Joker reveal. Nintendo should start to get people more hyped for the product with some exciting announcements instead of the buzz followed by disappointment all the time.
@CrazyMetroid when it happens I’m going to meet you back here to rub it in your face. Guaranteed it’s coming. Probably just gauging interest with the comment. Everything Nintendo does, they do for a reason.
@JasmineDragon I think some people have acknowledged some very blatant issues with this title. I also think that the intent is only to provide more varied information so that our fellow Nintendo fans can make a more educated decision. Some people are extremely sensitive to bad/frequent frame drops and it could tremendously impact their enjoyment. I will not sthu because if anyone did just a bit more searching of these “glowing” reviews you’d see that the issues are brought up frequently, something I don’t think NL did a well enough job of talking about. Trust me I have always enjoyed Nintendo life because I feel they’re one of the most trust worthy and morale sites around, but that being said they did do tons of preview and ads on this game, there is a chance that even if they didn’t intend too they went easy on the flaws.
@OorWullie metacritic can say whatever it wants. I personally think the game has too many issues to recommend. NL should acknowledge this but everything regarding this game has been in a favourable light.
@IHateTombs thank you. Ad revenue is your answer for the favourable review. I’ve been watching this closely, having played it on Xbox one and coming away feeling it has so many technical issues it’s difficult to recommend. I can’t imagine the switch version performs better and it seems to be swept under the rug quite a bit here.
There’s a really good chance Nintendo was waiting for this stock hit before releasing a Direct and new info to boost it back up. They’ve gotten quite a bit of bad news out of the way as well in regards to delays. Hopefully they strike now to boost it back up.
I was just saying how NL might not be as impartial to this game as you all may think. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since I think NL is one of the few gaming websites with morales left but if this scores high and any technical short comings are completely ignored I will be extremely disappointed.
@Mqblank I was just saying this about their Observer preview which was quite favourable and ads are everywhere on NL. People jumped on me for it but Observer had some serious issues on xbox one and I’d hate for NL to avoid talking about them because of ad revenue. My biggest hope is they actually polished the switch version more cause underneath the issues is a great game.
@JasmineDragon well I did the same. It does have quite high overall scores. My personal advice is to play it or try it somewhere else. I personally found the issues to be far too glaring to overcome. This is coming from a huge Blade Runner/Cyberpunk fan. I hope that you do enjoy it though, especially on switch.
@JasmineDragon that is genuinely surprising. It plays awfully on Xbox one x. I wish I could provide some kind of proof of that. Perhaps it’s a sloppy one x patch? Regardless I could always be wrong and they could have fixed it for Switch which is definitely what I’m hoping because it’s a cool game under the technical flaws. But if it’s a straight port I think the frame rate should be mentioned
@slider271 I very much could be wrong if they’ve cleaned the game up for Switch. But if they haven’t and it’s a straight port the fact that the frame rate wasn’t mentioned worries me that they may be going easy on it.
Buyer beware. Nintendolife has up ads for this game all over. I’ve played it on Xbox one, and while intriguing it is plagued with technical performance issues. Harsh frame rate drops, pop in, bad textures, and horrible frame pacing. They all work together to make the game extremely difficult to enjoy. Wait for a proper review and cross reference it with sites that might not have as much stake in giving it a favourable review.
This game has been getting so much hate that Im rooting for it. I love the character and that it’s an extension of Isolation. Honestly Aliens 3 was one of my favourite Aliens movies and the whole ending was basically a cat and mouse herding of the Alien and it’s quite tense. They may be able to capture that with a decent set of headphones, I’m imagining that when you mess up you have to watch gory deaths of the crew or even Amanda if you mess up badly.
@tangram I believe a switch pro would lessen 3rd party support. They already have one x and pro to worry about as well as base consoles. A whole other mid gen machine would just be annoying
I don’t think he could remain silent for the entirety of the film. My idea has always been a bait and switch. Play up a protagonist to be the chosen hero only for him to fall at some point in the movie and Link a silent member of the party step in and reveal his name to be Link.
Anybody else looking at this and thinking it’s from carrying the switch around on one side by the joycon? Those look like pressure cracks from the weight of the system while holding it only on one side.
Alright Mitch, ya got me, I’m sitting here reading thinking this is going to be some data mined info on a new 3DS Zelda and, POW, hits me right in the kisser with some stability!
@BanjoPickles not important at all. Battle royale is literally you against everyone else. Not much to talk about when you’re trying to kill each other lol. There are team modes but I prefer single or double play. If you can find a good friend to play doubles with worry about a mic
Nintendo knows what they should be doing but they refuse to play ball. I hope that now that their investors have spoken they’ll learn their lessons and promptly release another direct soon. They also should try to announce something during treehouse today. Metroid should have been shown, and at least a logo for Animal Crossing. Also it would have been a great opportunity to launch a Konami MGS compilation alongside Snakes reveal. I was really expecting a new 2DS Zelda as well and was really sad they couldn’t even slap one together. WHY DID I BUY A 2DS!? Anyways not a major setback but definitely a setback.
People seem to be holding out hope that Sony is going to fix this but I doubt it. They really are one of the most immature companies. Terrified of losing their top spot so much so that they constantly betray their loyal fans.

@VHSGLITCH fair enough. As long as someone with unbiased opinion says it runs reasonable. Just wouldn’t want anyone to waste money.
Re: Review: Observer - An Ambitious Cyberpunk Horror That Overcomes Its Faults To Provide Solid Scares
@VHSGLITCH I would really recommend trying another version first. Just to gauge how bad the technical performance issues are.
