@LUIGITORNADO big part of why I just ended up returning mine. Also the memory card can’t just be transferred over, you need to reformat it then redownload. Such a pain
@Pj1 In settings under user you transfer your profile. Then all your games need to be redownloaded. Didn’t see someone had already responded. If you trade it in to EB Games they will allow you to do a system transfer before they take your old switch away.
@DTfeartheBEARD if you’re a big handheld player then I totally get it. Personally after purchasing it I realized I very rarely play for long than 1.5-2 hours in handheld mode so it works fine for me lol
I bought one and returned it after realizing it was kinda of a silly splurge impulse buy. I was going to give my daughter my old one but decided a switch Lite would better suit her and if she wants to play on the tv my OG Switch is there for that. For some I realize this minor upgrade was a must but just so people are aware the minor performance boost is a myth, and the screen upgrade is very negligible. I did side by sides with my old switch, $400(Canadian)for a better battery when I can just carry a battery pack doesn’t make sense to me.
@CoastersPaul is that true? To be fair that’s a technical marvel considering the hardware and graphics for those two particular games. There’s technical marvels nowadays as well. I really wish Nintendo would personally invest in helping these developers get better performance. It sounds as if they did with MK11 on Switch and a handful of others.
@60frames-please I’m pretty damn sure CTR and Sonic Racing have been reported to have very stable frame rates. I wouldn’t call stable 30 bad. Since when did 60 even become so important to everyone. Remember when games on 64 ran at like 15-20 FPS and no one said a damn thing. Now that FPS is more mainstream seems like it’s all anyone cares about. I’ll take 30 locked or close too it. 60 is great for sure but even on my one x I’d rather play at 4K 30 than 60 1080
@8itmap_k1d me and you have two very different versions of unplayable. BOTW has a below standard resolution and framedips. Would you consider that unplayable?
@KBuckley27 to be fair BOTW was a port and I think they rushed it out a bit because of the Switch. I have no doubt they would have delayed BOTW2 to clean it up more, and they did in fact make performance enhancements after launch. With the sequel being announced though it’s not too surprising that we never got another performance update as they’re probably hard at work on the sequel.
@Spoony_Tech they are. Most stores probably have an order to sell all current models first. My local Best Buys and Walmart’s are sold out of the old model now.
@Tantani I’m actually most interested in the cooler running temps. My switch has been getting seemingly hotter and hotter with demanding use. Odyssey has it to the point where I could cook an egg on it
@Prof_Yoshtonics I think if there is any performance gains to be had you won’t be seeing or hearing about them for awhile other than speculation and hackers testing the limits. Actual games utilizing it though I doubt will happen very soon in order to avoid alienating early adopters, which they’ve already kind of done with the battery life alone.
@Tantani I don’t think the specs are the same. From what I’m hearing this chip may be capable of higher clock speeds due to its cooler operating temperature. Which could in turn mean performance gains in certain games, similar to the OG Xbox One and the One S
@Prof_Yoshtonics I still don’t believe that information was ever confirmed. It’s a fairly large gain in battery life. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out it’s both a better battery and a more efficient chip set.
@AnnoyingFrenzy to be honest I’m right there with you. LEGO Jurassic world would probably have been funnier without voice acting. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.
@AnnoyingFrenzy love it or hate it the voice overs are stripped straight from the movie. And unfortunately they are fairly low quality sounding as well as the fact that it seems they didn’t edit out the background noise for most of the voice overs, for instance you can sometimes hear running water etc in the background. It’s kind of jarring.
EA so obviously does not want to support Nintendo and is going out of their way to get out of it. They have been pretty open about Switch ports of FIFA being lacklustre, they’ve also somehow dropped the ball on so many in game events, advertising them for Switch then reporting they won’t be available on Switch. I think they do it on purpose, something also tells me they probably convinced themselves people would blame Nintendo and it backfired on them.
@mousieone I was referring to them upping clock speeds, performance, etc. Not them phasing out the old SKU. It’s obvious that’s the plan. I just mean they probably won’t start experimenting with the possibilities of the new chip anytime soon as to not make people feel like they’ve got an inferior model. Which they already do lol
@mousieone would see fairly minimal improvements. Such as the ones you already see now. Faster loading in BOTW, slightly better performance for certain games. Something tells me though that Nintendo won’t be doing this for quite some time, as to not risk upsetting early adopters.
Isn’t there a chance that this is in reference to the Switch Lite? Especially considering it has better battery life? Maybe it was to speed up when they made it to market.
@Kirgo slow down there my friend. I never spoke for you, in fact you made a comment and spoke for yourself. And I find it a bit hypocritical that you can’t acknowledge that a lot of people pay for this blindly because of the switches current popularity. Nintendo doesn’t have much incentive to do more because it’s selling and personally that makes me feel like others are speaking for me. At the very least they could introduce tier’d subs so that people like you could be happy, and people like me who want GameCube games and messaging capabilities could be happy. The point is they can do more, but they probably won’t because everyone keeps paying rather than raising expectations. But don’t you worry, I can appreciate your point as well as mine, just because my comment has likes doesn’t automatically make me a jerk.
@Aslanmagic isn’t that a bit of a kick in the nuts. A coupon for a discontinued system and a system they are leaving behind currently. AND ON YOUR BIRTHDAY OF ALL DAYS! Lol
My line of thinking is that a Pro model is quite a ways out, or is the type of upgrade that doesn’t force the developers to do anything differently at all. Minor upgrade to GPU and Processor much like the Xbox one to the S. As far as the Switch Mini is concerned I think they’ll need a few selling points for the unit other than a slightly cheaper msrp. I could see it being marketed with longer battery life and a more efficient processer chip. That way they can keep the skus relatively close in price will justifying the purchase in turn.
Nintendo should just straighten this out. It’s getting silly. Like it’s obviously to keep momentum on the regular switch but it’s become a farce because it’s been leaked everywhere constantly. Kind of shows Nintendo’s hand because they are refusing to announce if officially.
@shadowbuster yeah that’s why I normally hang out here instead of IGN. @gameboy1975 baited me in with his trolly “buddy” comments. Wish I wouldn’t get annoyed by that stuff but it’s so hard not to.
@gameboy1975 you’re being kind of rude for zero reason. I never fanboyed about anything, and your condescending pet names aren’t appreciated. Listen buddy bro guy dude, I am an avid Nintendo supporter. My point my friend man brochacho is that Nintendo sees more financial success when they differentiate themselves by being unique. For example the Wii, and Switch. Someone had stated that Nintendo will fail if they do not eventually make a machine that rivals the power of the other competitors to which I disagreed and stated my reasons for doing so. I never came at you or was rude to you so I’m not exactly sure why you jumped in and started doing so to me especially considering your comments have very little to do with what I actually said and more to do with trying to be argumentative about...well I’m not even sure what your argument is since most everything you said barely makes sense. Actually further more after reviewing your comment I realized you insinuated that I was a 13 year old boy fanboying over some made up war. Listen compadre girlfriend brother, the GameCube and Wii U were both commercial and financial failures for Nintendo. That’s not made up, when you’re a company and your competitors do better than you, you lose. That’s not something you can make up. I bought both, because I am and always will be a Nintendo fan, so don’t think just because I made a comment about sony or PS4 I’m fanboying because you lack the intelligence to actually properly argue your point.
@hihelloitsme highly doubt they make that mistake. Tremendously popular system. They will make small revisions to keep you on the hook, it seems the goal is to have a switch in everyone’s home.
