14/19, felt like I missed some points due to not being from the US. Miss my pink phat model which I sold long ago to replace with a DSi. Also Pictochat was nice.

I feel like the late eighties was the peak for pop culture in general.

Easily the SNES version of the original, PoP 2 has its moments but is frustrating to play. I remember liking Sands of Time but it's hard for me to go back to it nowadays.

The "New"-style always had a McDonald's toys look to it (the best way I can describe it) and was never a fan, this looks better.

I believe most of these games have been "preserved" in a less legal manner already thanks to community effort. Interesting to see someone attempt something like this with one account and all.
Also the EU/JP eShop libraries are different and have their own exclusives just like NA so wouldn't "every title" be an overstatement?

I really want to give it a go sometime but those character design are very off-putting to me..

I agree that it's about time for the poor guy, he's been trying to become a master for all this time. More movies/specials set during the humble beginnings could still happen though.

I've played through the whole thing and the issues I had was that the game crashed twice after auto-saving. There's definitely a lot of small things regarding the presentation that could've been better, but I had a nice time with it (something which I really haven't experienced since X&Y).

This game destroyed my hands and even worse my controller!

I would say the RE1 Remake is close to flawless even though it's 20 years old at this point. I understand why people like 4 but personally I'm not a fan the "action" games.

To me English just doesn't fit well with JRPGs anyway, got nothing against British English. Most of the time I prefer it over American English.

Didn't expect seeing Atari ST games on that list! Great computer, but US Gold Out Run wasn't that good..
Interesting how different the market-share was within Europe. In Sweden Nintendo was dominating until the arrival of the Playstation, yet the N64 sold pretty well too.

I really like Gunstar Heroes, never played Ristar either so excited for that.
Guess I'll try out some N64 games once I get that controller, don't think I'll stay subscribed for long though at that price. Besides I still have a perfectly serviceable N64 hooked up with most of these games.

If I recall correctly later European releases were optimized for 50hz (filling the extra scanlines etc) Language is likely the reasoning behind this, a lot of N64 games had French, German (sometimes Spanish and Italian?) language options.

I really dig the esthetics in Lodoss war! Seen the OVA but reading through the comments makes me curious about the novels as well.

I've really been wanting a wireless N64 controller that doesn't try to "improve" the original design or thumbstick.

I've been buying exclusivly Japanese when it comes to retro stuff for almost 10 years, never looked back.

It made a lot of sense to use this when you were a kid on allowance money, batteries don't grow on trees!

@SorridoSnake Just like with JPop, JRock, etc, in this case I think it comes down to where it's made. The creators themselves seem to say it's a tribute to JRPGs and don't label it as such.

I have a PC with better specs and I don't play in portable mode on my Switch, won't get either.

I would've really liked to see Time Gal and/or Ninja Hayate on this, as pretty much every port suffers from bad video-quality. I did get the Android version released about 4 years ago, but I just can't use touch controls! I'm really tempted to get this nevertheless!

Rondo of Blood is my favorite Castlevania game and they did a great job with their original series, I'm excited!

This demo still looks really good, can't believe it's 10 years old. Compare looking back to something from the 90s during the early 00s.

Got this digitally a good while ago, would have gotten it if it was available as physical then but I won't buy it twice. Fun game btw!

For one, I enjoy older games a lot probably because the experience is closer to the titles that got me into games to begin with (compared to modern stuff).
Second, being a kid there was just so much stuff you couldn't afford or wasn't available. Lot of fun to be had discovering everything you missed out on.

I used to live in Osaka, and man do I miss it! In my opinion that Super Potato there was much better than the Akihabara one, not as crowded, more stuff and usually better prices.

Played both of these reboots with a friend on PC, had a good time with both. It's not on the same level as the originals, a LOT of pop-cultural references to the point that it gets tiring. They're still way better than the other "New" LSL games we've seen after 7.

Still my favorite controller, sure the stick could wear out quickly if you're not careful. But I've always felt the amount of precision it had + almost no dead-zone is unmatched. Like Yorumi above me mentioned it's nice to play 2D titles without the sacrifice of an awkwardly placed D-Pad. Namco Museum and Pokémon Stadium also benefited from this.

16/20, that D-Pad question was tricky!

I was surprised of how much stuff that defined the franchise was in from the very beginning. The music is excellent in my opinion, considering its a Famicom game you can't do much better.
It's the unforgiving gameplay that made me put it away without getting that far.

Why in earth would Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 get a higher place than Mischief Makers??

I'll maybe try Death Stranding when its released for the PC, to me though Fire Emblem was easily the best game I've played 2019.
