@vio Thanks for telling me how to disable the auto-play. Hopefully that will help with my other problem since the update that when I'm watching a tv show, my whole WiiU freezes once the show ends and it goes to the auto-play "Next episode will start in 20 seconds" screen. It's happened to me EVERY TIME that I've watched something since the update!
@Surlent But I only purchased the Wii U characters at the time, because I mistakenly thought I could pay the remainder of the bundle price later to get the 3ds versions.
Slightly related, but with the last set of DLC released I bought Ryu and Lucas, but because my 3DS didn't have enough space on it for the update, let alone the DLC, I only got the Wii U version thinking that when I later had the money to get a larger SD card (in fact I eventually got a New 3DS XL and a 16GB micro SD card) I'd be able to upgrade for the remainder of the bundle price. But now when I go on my 3DS I can either pay for the 3DS version on it's own, or the full bundle price. I assumed because of having a linked Nintendo Network account on both systems, it would see that I already bought the WiiU version and offer me the bundle price for the remainder. Kind of like the eshop does for Virtual Console titles I already have on the Wii. Anyone know any way around this? Should I try contacting Nintendo??
A tragic loss! From what I read in interviews and saw on Nintendo Direct presentations he seemed like a genuinely nice guy with great humour and humanity. I was playing Splatoon earlier and I nearly teared up when I saw all the messages of condolence from the residents of the plaza and saw the Miiverse tributes populating the gaming arenas. I can't think of a better memorial to a man who truly loved gaming!
So I got home and tried to get online for a game at around 11:30pm. No luck! Tried a few more times with the same results. Looked on here to see you were having the same problem as well as searching on Twitter to see similar problems. Was seriously considering cancelling my pre-order.
But then saw a tweet from Nintendo UK posted 14 hours ago saying that the Global Testfire would be happening at midnight, rather than 11pm I had seen reported elsewhere. Logged on at midnight and just finished an hour of solid, no drop out, online gaming.
Was this really a server problem or just a communi ation problem as go what tine the Global Testfire would be happening??
Managed to get a pre-order in for Bowser Jr and Olimar before they sold out! Dithered over whether to get a Dr Mario (I already have Smash Mario and made a decision not to get more than one version of a character) but the fact that they sold out made up my decision for me!
As someone who wanted a Lucina amiibo, but gave up after seeing it Sold Out everywhere and who already pre-ordered a copy of Codename S.T.E.A.M., it was a bit of a kick in the teeth to see these bundles put up online on launch day when my copy had already been dispatched and I couldn't cancel my order!
Downloaded this, unlocked a bunch of games that I already own with the amiibo that I have, played for 5 minutes, deleted the app.
This could have been good. Like others have said, I thought it might actually have three minute challenges for each game - earn so many points in Dr Mario, reach level 1-3 on Super Mario Bros etc. but as it is, it's just play a bit of a game and then play another bit of a game. Most of the NES games I either own already or played on NES Remix, and the SNES games I have already. Pointless!
@ted-k Yeah, that first sentence really stuck out to me too.
Can't wait for this. Mario Kart 8 is the Wii U game I play the most, so looking forward to all this new content. Also, this DLC really shows up the Smash Bros DLC. Here we're getting new courses, new characters AND new vehicles for £7 (or less if you bought the bundle like I did) and with Smash you're paying about the same I think just for some Mii outfits...
Disappointing that the Week One discount was apparently only for the initial batch of Wii games. Would have definitely picked up Punch-Out!! for £8, but I'm sure I can pick up a physical copy for less than £17.99!
Tempted by Phoenix Wright, but as someone who's not played any of the series before, should I opt for the original trilogy or Dual Destinies?
Think I'll pick up Olli Olli. Cross-buy between Wii U and 3DS, plus the fact that it's discounted for the first two weeks, are how I would like to see the e-shop continue.
Sold out!!! I haven't picked up a New 3ds yet (I've been busy playing Majora's Mask on my 3DS XL and it plays just fine so didn't feel the need to upgrade yet. Plus haven't been able to find any store near me that is stocking them and really wanted to try out the New version before buying to see how the screen size felt). But was really wanting that black zelda plate. If cover plates are gonna be as hard to get hold of as amiibo, then I might not bother...
Prime Trilogy for sure, as apart from playing a bit of the Gamecube original, this series passed me by somehow at the time and for that first week price, it'd be rude not to! My only concern now is with the download size! Hope that I have enough space on my Wii U!
Will also be picking up Gunman Clive 2. I really liked the original and for £2.50, I'll definitely be getting hold of the sequel!
What the heck. I decided to go ahead and order it. I did really like the Link Between Worlds soundtrack and this seems like a cool package. Sure there may be something else put up in the near future that I'll wished I'd held off for, but there could just as easily be a bunch more tat instead. I've still got 760 stars left and might get some more for registering some digital downloads.
The best thing I got with my stars is still probably the SNES controller for the Wii! And the charging cradle for my 3DS XL has been pretty useful (if a ridiculous amount of stars for a piece of plastic...)
@gianlucazogno I'm in the same boat. I've got 3600 stars, and wouldn't mind this, but am wondering if they'll add something else I want later. Decisions, decisions...
Honestly, I'm mostly looking forward to getting Metroid Prime Trilogy next week as I never owned any of the originals and givem the price the disc version is going for, I'll happily download this for 9 quid.
I'll try and get Ness and maybe Lucina from Wave 4. I'll probably pick up Luigi, Bowser, Peach and Toad from the Super Mario range – I already have Smash Mario and Yoshi, and much prefer that sculpt for Yoshi than the odd looking pose they've used here. Yoshi standing upright like that just looks strange!
Already own this, but will definitely be picking up Metroid Prime Trilogy and possibly Sin And Punishment and Punch Out during their first week discounts. I like the fact that Nintendo are using this to release some games that a lot of people might have missed the first time around!
Yeah, I didn't get the email, but a friend of mine did and offered to get one for me as he couldn't afford it, but I'd rather see the console first and try it out in store before making a decision on whether to get the regular or XL size.
@SanderEvers I 'd personally have little interest in amiibo cards. So far I have Mario, Link, Yoshi and Kirby partly because of combatibility with games I have, or intend to buy, and largely due to wanting the figures. I plan to pick up Bowser and Megaman from the announced line-up almost entirely for the figures.
I'll be getting Smash Bros bundled with the Mario amiibo for xmas, partly because I found it for a decent price online. I'm curious to see how the amiibo's work, but I'm not that bothered about collecting them. I also don't like the ones that have the plastic supports, so Mario seemed like a decent choice. I might pre-order Bowser and Mega-Man after Christmas...
So after reading around about this problem, it's not just exclusive to Smash Bros and maybe not quite as epidemic as this article made it out to be. Ensuring you don't turn off the console while the game is auto-saving seems to be advisable too.
Just a shame that the price of Smash + mario amiibo has gone up since I cancelled my initial order. Well I think I'll wait now anyway and see if the price goes down again before I buy it.
I've been on the fence about Smash Bros Wii U, having bought and played the 3DS version at launch and feeling that it was just more of the same, albeit shinier and in HD. But last night I caved and pre-ordered the Mario Amiibo bundle from Amazon.
Well now I've just cancelled my order! I know the article says this is a random error, but I'd be gutted if it happened to me and my Wii U bricked all for a game I wasn't dead set on buying in the first place. If Nintendo release official word/an update for this soon then I'll probably reinstate my order, but as it stands, what's the point in buying a game that I won't be playing for fear it'll crash my system?
Personally, having bought the 3DS version of Smash Bros and played it fairly regularly since launch, I just didn't feel any real urge to go out and buy the Wii U version.
Really? I haven't seen any advertising for this game. While I've seen the Smash Bros 3DS tv ad a bunch of times, so they can do it when they put there mind to it...

Not really fussed about either game, but I am tempted to get a K.K. Slider and Isabelle amiibo...
