Re: Soapbox: I Miss My Friends, But I Don't Want To Kill Them

@Matl
This is kind of what I am going through, so I totally understand. At the beginning of the pandemic I had a bunch of friends who I played Animal Crossing, Overcooked, Mariokart, etc. with. But then as time slowly passed, they kind of stopped. It is a bit depressing to think of games as "fads," but I guess that's what happens if you're not really into games. The vast majority of my friends who play games play more hardcore stuff as I've slowly reverted into a "casual" gamer since I can't really invest the time into it like I do on my actual work.

In a similar way, you could argue that there is a plethora of TV to watch and that old TV might not matter. But like the infamous lost episodes of Doctor Who, which I am personally saddened to know that originals are gone, some people may want to play these games later. For example, if Mario Bros was all of a sudden somehow destroyed and lost (This is not very realistic considering how many times it has been rereleased etc), what about the fans of that?
I see your point, there are lots of games to play. But a lot of things mean a lot of things to different people. Some people may enjoy games that other people really hate because of different reasons etc. and newer games just may not be able to replicate that experience for them.

I would love to play this game again! XC never really grabbed me; I tried to play it but it just didn't click. But this game.. Oh man. I got back into it after not having played it for about a year and everything came back. Maybe it's partly nostalgia, but something about the world just makes sense. Maybe I'm just more of a sci-fi fan, but I love getting lost in this world and the music for the overworld is amazing.
