The latest North American My Nintendo rewards have gone live, offering a large selection of games and some bonus Super Smash Bros. Ultimate goodies for eager fans.
Let's kick things off with the games on offer, shall we? As you can see below, this new batch brings with it a lovely collection of great Legend of Zelda titles, some Fire Emblem goodness, two Metroid games, and more. Here's the full list:

- [3DS] 30% off Monster Hunter Stories: 90 Gold Points
- [New 3DS] 30% off Xenoblade Chronicles 3D: 90 Gold Points
- [3DS] 30% off Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia: 90 Gold Points
- [3DS] 30% off The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D: 90 Gold Points
- [New 3DS] 30% off Fire Emblem Warriors: 600 Platinum Points

- [Wii U] 30% off Xenoblade Chronicles X: 130 Gold Points
- [Wii U] 40% off The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword: 400 Platinum Points
- [Wii U] 40% off The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks: 200 Platinum Points
- [Wii U] 40% off Metroid: Other M: 400 Platinum Points
As for the Smash Ultimate content, new December wallpapers have been released for the game across smartphones and desktop, and two 3DS themes have also been made available. Nintendo has, rather comically, made a point here of stating that "we didn't forget Nintendo 3DS owners" on the rewards page.
- December Calendar - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 50 Platinum Points
- Nintendo 3DS theme: Super Smash Bros.: Theme 1: 20 Gold Points
- Nintendo 3DS theme: Super Smash Bros.: Theme 2: 20 Gold Points
Will you be taking advantage of any of these offers? Remember, your Gold Points can also be spent on Switch software directly from the eShop or a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, too!

NB4 the "My Nintendo sucks" crowd.
Seriously, this round of rewards (if you're a fan of digital and have these platforms) is pretty decent overall. All of those Zelda games range from decent to amazing, and XCX is a must-play for Wii U owners.
Edit: I forgot about Ever Oasis. It's a game that I consider a hidden 3DS gem.
Your Nintendo Sucks -_-
I already have the December wallpaper in my phone. Awesome.
When Switch offers
@Yasaal honestly. Didn’t they say coming soon almost two years ago?
@jrpacman @yasaal You can use your points for a discount on switch games already... it has been this way for awhile now.
@jhvoorhies those "discounts" don't even cover the tax during checkout.
Where are the good Wii U rewards? Like those Indie games for gold points from a few months back?
Ahhhh, Xenoblade Chronicles X... If that was for a Switch port I'd be throwing my cash at Nintendo so fast. I'm honestly shocked that it hasn't been front and center amongst the Wii U ports. It's one of the Nintendo titles that makes me wonder how many copies it could have sold as a true cross-platform release.
I already own most of what's available on My Nintendo these days. I also got a Birthday coupon from Nintendo...everything on the list of "select" games it offers a discount for I already own. Nintendo should know this, I had to register the games with My Nintendo already. So annoying to receive a "Special for your Birthday" offer on games I ALREADY OWN! Good grief. Nintendo, I love ya but I think it's time to scrap My Nintendo and bring back Club Nintendo.
dig the 3ds themes but hesitant since those points are more flexible now
Man I'd love to get some of those discounts on switch. First things first though, bring those games to switch!
@patbacknitro18: Eh, fine. I'm giving that one to you.
@Yasaal
You can spend your coins on Switch games.....so do we really need switch offers?
Switch has been out for nearly two years, the Wii u has been dead almost as long. Let that sink in when looking at these "rewards".
@jhvoorhies It would be nice to see a small selection of bigger discounts in addition to what is available.
Use the constant 5% back on every purchase or save up some coins and get 40% off on MK8 ya know?
I wish Smash Ultimate included different costumes for Zelda, Ganon, and Link. They've each have had several different looks over the franchises history and it should be celebrate in Smash to some degree.
@Indielink Yeah man, I agree that it would be nice for that!
No switch, no care.
yawn, would be nice if they ever decided to have Switch rewards...
@Jeremazing Well looking at the fact that 90 gold points net you 30% off something and it's worth .90$ unless said games is worth 3$ I would say these offer are an advantage vs simply using your gold point toward a purchase... So yes I guess we could use these...
I'm I'm not even talking about platinum points which are more or less worthless and yet still give you significant discount in some offer...
@Jeremazing As someone said, those gold coins tend to be barely enough to cover the tax. So it seems the only real way to benefit from the gold coins is to buy a crap load of games. Which I think people would if the discounts for games were a bit better consistently. And that’s not to sound entitled to discounted games. However, you could argue maybe you shouldn’t feel the need to buy games so frequently. So not sure what the best middle ground is. I do think it’s odd they push Wii U discounts. Yet, they seem to want us to move on from the console
lol, the only Metroid discounts are the two worst Metroid games.
That group picture is so bad. At least pretend to smile!!
To bad Switch doesn't do themes. Ah well, I downloaded the calendar at least...
So let me get this straight: Oracle of Seasons is discounted... but not Oracle of Ages?
Seriously, Nintendo?
Doesn't feel so Good has too many Gimmick.
I hope Nintendo will start to include discounts on Laserdisc and HD-DVD movies too
Looked at the "deals" yesterday. There are some I am interested in, but I can generally find them even cheaper used on disc.
All great games. I totally agree. How about some rewards for Switch? Despite the valid points of people like @Tyranexx, Nintendo's current reward program is very very mediocre, especially compared to previous programs they have had. And their almost total lack of support for the Switch, and their active favoritism of digital over physical, is almost insulting.
I missed the Club Nintendo hey-days where they had amazing physical rewards and I was hoping I'd get those when this service launched, boy was I wrong.
Please prove me wrong ;(
Remember when the platinum coins could get you free games instead of small discounts? Good times...
People hating this, and missing Club Nintendo... I miss Club Nintendo. Actual rewards and free games... but I remember Nintendo Power’s stamps, and wanting those cartridges and Yoshi shaped CDs. Lol
But why can’t we get something Switch related? I’d love skyward sword but I just don’t think I’ll drag the Wii U out to play it so why purchase it.
@Tyranexx I don't consider a coupon to be a reward for consumers. It is a reward for Nintendo though for every person the coupon convinces to spend the other 70% that they wouldn't have spent otherwise.
These coupons aren't even free. Reward? LOL
Still waiting on those discounts for Nintendo Switch Online members.
You know what drives me nuts? They don't list the regular price on the My Nintendo page and Nintendo Life didn't list them here either.
@Crono1973: To each their own. I'm not saying that My Nintendo is a great program, just that this month's new offerings are quite decent. Could they come up with a new and better program? Definitely. Improvements can always be made. Making lemons out of lemonade and all that.
While I miss Club Nintendo, I have reaped some benefits from My Nintendo. Even discounts on games are nothing to sniff at, and the ones earned by Platinum points are pretty much given to you for free; it takes little to no effort to earn those Plats. Plenty of discounts that I've used were on games (mostly VC) that I had wanted for some time but hadn't picked up yet since I spread out my game purchases. Heck, I'd consider Monster Hunter Stories from this batch if I wasn't already buried under a ton of backlogged 3DS games.
Also, FWIW, the discount on Metroid Prime Trilogy awhile back pushed me, someone who normally prefers physical retail games, to finally get it on the Wii U. I'm highly reluctant to spend any amount over $15 on a digital purchase, so the discount (as well as other factors) pushed me to get what is arguably one of the best video game compilations out there. It's a decision that I don't regret.
Crazy cuz that's the same recycled junk they offered me for my birthday in September, lol.
@Yasaal they consider being able to use the 5% bonus (gold coins) toward switch games (only. Not useable on 3ds or wii u) as those switch rewards. Nowhere close to the old Nintendo rewards program or even the 3ds/wii u downloadable content for gold coins on my Nintendo.
@Crono1973 click through to the eshop page. I know what you mean, but that's a way around it.
What a cheap company!
Not a single offer for Switch games!!
@Octorok385 The makers of XCX said they would like to port it to the Switch but they would need money for that. It wasnt in those exact words. I am just paraphrasing the PR marlarkey to their statements.
I got Spirit Tracks.
These are pretty good rewards overall but it'd be nice to see some Switch games on there. 3DS and Wii U are pretty much last gen at this point.
Edit: Oh, and I totally recommend MH Stories. Great game overall, me and a friend bought it together and expected to hate it, but fell in love with it.
@Tyranexx Even discounts on games are nothing to sniff at, and the ones earned by Platinum points are pretty much given to you for free; it takes little to no effort to earn those Plats.
You know i get ACTUAL free coupons in my mailbox several times a week. Coupons should be free because they aren't really to benefit you, they are to benefit the business that wants to get you in the door to spend some money instead on no money.
@Crono1973: My point is that the platinum coins are free. You get them through little or no effort. I rack up a couple hundred coins each month just by browsing the eShop or playing a little Fire Emblem Heroes. Both are things that I would do normally with or without a program. With your example, you still have to make the trip to your mailbox. That at the very least takes the effort to walk to it to begin with, be it 5 feet or 500. It may be little or no effort by some standards, but that's still you doing something. That's also not considering the money you would spend on gas or public transportation or even the cost of your own time just to get to said store.
If it's "free" games that you want, the service has offered them. Not as many as Club Nintendo ever did admittedly, but those freebies have existed.
Gold coins are another matter. But if you're racking them up anyway from other purchases, why not spend them?
@hcfwesker you clearly have no idea what your talking about. Without the discount you would pay more period. As far as taxes I am never charged taxes on digital no matter where or what platform I buy it on. You are just being a troll
Skyward Sword on Wii U? Weird/neat.
@Dirty0814 I am charged taxes on my digital purchases.
@Dirty0814 being accused of being a troll for stating facts ... welcome to the internet, folks.
Oh, well, I was wrong ... the TAX does get covered for a random $5 game
Last time I used my Nintendo was to get a free download of Severed.
