Re: Feature: Just How Accessible Are Switch Games Like Xenoblade, Pokémon, And Mario Odyssey?

SapphireBlaze

I think there's also a bit of a mix up in this article between accessibility and usability. Generally, accessibility is a part of game usability and would usually refer to ease of use to those that, either due to physical or cognitive handicaps, would struggle to play and get enjoyment from the game in any form.

I do appreciate the Nintendo Life addressing accessibility in articles like this, but I can't help but feel it slightly hypocritical when they say it can be hard to assess accessibility in games before you buy them, when one of the main reasons we read reviews and previews on this site before buying a game is to see how suitable a game would be to us to play.

I feel like if this is an issue Nintendo Life is serious about addressing then providing reviewers with at least the necessary information on how to assess accessibility in the games they are reviewing and to include that information in the review would be beneficial to not just those have accessibility issues, but would actually appreciated by all readers.

Re: Pokémon Developer Game Freak Introduces Optional Four Day Working Week

Japan is notoriously behind when it comes to enforcement of workplace laws and encouragement of taking paid leave (most people don't even take all of their few paid days off). The technology sector has always been a bit further ahead it offering flexible solutions to working though. But I still feel this great offer will simple be disregarded by most eligible employees where they feel co-workers would look down on them for reducing hours and they will feel pressure to keep working full time in order to stay in the running for promotions etc.

Japan's government is having a big push recently on male employees taking their legally supported paid maternity leave (which is actually very generous) but I hope this supports people in making that transition back to working life with children easier.

Re: Splatoon 3 Will Supposedly Be "One Version", Could Regional Issues Be A Thing Of The Past?

I hope so, the bast majority of Nintendo developed games released in Japan have support for multiple languages. Splatoon 2 is the only one I have bought which could only be played in Japanese. A minor inconvenience when your Japanese is lower intermediate but still annoying when I just want to relax and play something in English. Massive respect to all of those people that have no choice than to play games in English if it's their 2nd (or higher) language.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Switch Game Of 2021 So Far?

As I’m not really a Monster Hunter fan, and as the big Zelda and Mario games are remasters then Pokémon Snap is my current favourite game of the year (despite not completing it yet). Other shout outs go Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind (also still not completed) and Ty The Tasmanian Tiger 2 (yes a remaster but at least I completed it.) I also 100% Super Mario 64 on the Super Mario 3D Collection and had a great time replaying that. It’s a shame that there’s a lack of first party AAA releases this year so far. Big hopes for Wario Ware and I may even try Metroid if reviews are good.

Always happy reminiscing about one of my favourite games of all time, thank you, Kate! This chapter has always been one that stands out to me in this game (which, I guess is also most of them). But I am still torn about whether to wait out an official future rerelease or play a version with updated HD textures for a fresh experience, or just whip out my GameCube to kick it old school.

When I went the longest queues were actually for the restaurant so I never got to try the food there... but the yakisoba koopa shell stand queue was shorter so I managed to try that and some of the special drinks they have. They were pretty good, not amazing taste wise but definitely looked awesome.

Re: Netflix Is Winding Down Its Services On Wii U And 3DS

As annoying as it was having Netflix not pause until about a minute or 2 after pressing the button and it randomly crashing it was still my preferred way to watch Netflix as I could use the game pad to watch things on that and YouTube as I moved around getting ready in the morning. I transitioned over to mostly using my Chromecast now though so I guess it was the right decision but I still miss the multi screen.
