We're definitely fans of Nintendo's latest run of commercials in Japan, which are primarily promoting 'evergreen' titles on the system. We had the rather charming Ring Fit Adventure advert recently, and now there's a downright heartwarming commercial for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
It's so effective because, essentially, this is rather representative of the impact that games can have on young minds, blending the real world with the cute environs of Animal Crossing. Add in the performances, direction and music, and it's excellent work from Nintendo and all involved.
While the ads we get in North America and Europe are often pushing for the hard sell - which is the business, of course - it's sometimes nice to see promotional videos that go for a more subtle approach.
Let us know what you think, as always, in the comments.

Oh my god this is better than the ring fit ad and I didn’t know that was possible
So hearting warming. Big fan of this.
At the stage now where each new ad is just rubbing the lack of meaty updates in our faces.
@gcunit I think E3 will change that
While a nice wholesome ad for a game that is essentially one player less you visit someone, I could care less about watching this ad as I played over 500 hours of this game. I am sure there is a target audience for an ad of a game over a year old. Looking forward to what E3 has in store.
@gcunit Yep, still not gonna start playing it again unless they announce something decent at E3.
Would love an update at E3, but still playing the game every day, sometimes just for 10 mins or so, but do like catching up with friends on my island or theirs.

@ThomasBW84 Thank you for posting this! I would have never seen this otherwise! This is why I love Animal Crossing! Yes, I love my hard games, my intense games, but there is something so chill, so peaceful about this game. And this advert captures that. Thanks again for putting this up!
@dugan Always a pleasure!
It’s all about the small details. Love this! Makes me want to go back to my island.
I half-expected the dad to have a raccoon's face but otherwise that was just lovey!
dlc when? we're starving
I love the real life echoes. Maybe animal crossing did cause us to look twice at things we took for granted. I'll never look at gardening the same way for example
Animal Crossing inspired me to grow some cosmos on my balcony, the first pink flower is starting to sprout
Beautiful and even therapeutic video. Almost every Nintendo of Japan commercial is worth a watch in my book. Each one is brimming with Nintendo's distinct aesthetic charm.
@Slowdive Agreed! They're atmospheric, introspective, and usually contain a sense of community ^_^
@dugan You should take a gander at Nintendo of Japan's Youtube channel! They upload a lot of their promotional videos on there, and they're all cute, with lots more ACNH commercials
@Ulysses Thanks for the heads up! I will check it out!
