Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite Nintendo Switch Online NES Games

RunGMhx

@tendonerd At this price point ; more stability when playing online would be a great start. I avoid some part of Mario maker simply because they're too unplayable. Smash is also hit or miss. As of now I'm paying for the exact same experience as when it was free.

Regular updates to the free games would be nice or simply a roadmap, when you pay for PSN or Xbox Live you know you'll have a set amount of games in the year, with Nintendo lately you're left hoping. More Snes games, Nes games aged poorly in my opinion, same with N64.

I would gladly pay more if it meant more free games even if not permanent, be it Gamecube, wii or even less known switch games. Some extra discount would also be nice on Nintendo games, like it was with My Nintendo in previous generations.

Yes the services is cheaper than the competition, but the quality of the free content and discount is also inferior and the online stability too. So at the end of the day I'm not exactly sure why I'm paying 20$ a year? Is it for free games? Is it for the right to play online?

In my case I'm paying for a family plan for me, my wife and my son, so the cost is not far from what I pay for Xbox Live (all 3 can play online with 1 subscription on Xbox), yet I don't really see nearly as much quality.

Re: Reminder: Ninjala's Open Beta Starts Today, Join In On Switch For Free

@Anti-Matter While I get your point, I think developper first and foremost should have the right to do any kind of game that they want and release it however they want... Then you have the right to vote on wether this is good practice or not by giving them money (or not). If a company want to make a free to play game it's their choice and shouldn't have to necessarily think long term, sometimes you just have to play the bills now and or make money fast in order to get a bigger passion project.

Re: Two Point Hospital Is Out On Switch Today, Here's A Launch Trailer

RunGMhx

I'll be waiting for a sale and then I'll surely get it. Been waiting this game on switch for quite some time, remember first time I saw an article about it here on NL googled it and it was on sale on steam for like 75% off.... So'll I'll be patient because the price is a little steep for my taste given that I'm not a huge fan of this type of game but I remember playing theme hospital back in the days and liking it a lot...

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Might Contain In-Game Purchases

RunGMhx

Wasn’t the an hypothesis for the whole save thing about the fact that they want to avoid cheat/ time manipulation to speed up progression? What if it’s more that they want to sell you those option? Animal crossing never struck me as a competitive game, so this whole avoid cheat thing was weird but now it could make a lot of sense....

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Make The 'Switch Sacrifice'?

RunGMhx

Honestly I have the Witcher on Xbox One and never had time to play it... I thought about getting it for switch as It would be easier for me to find the time but can’t bring me to make the leap as it looks too different. Instead I’m hoping for a switch pro... I really want to get the full experience as it suppose to be one of the best game this generation...

Re: Axiom Verge Creator Says The Sequel Has A "Distinctly Heavier Zelda Influence"

RunGMhx

Ok... screw it I'm making a leap of faith... I'll buy the first one now! I love Metroid type of game and was on the fence for Axiom Verge for quite some time but it always come to me going on the eshop and seeing a screenshot and choke... I just find the game artstyle so damn repulsive... It's something about the color palette or the texture or I don't know I just can't put my finger on it but it really bugs me. I love how 16-bit game looks and tolerate 8-bit games pretty ok (time hasn't been kind to 8-bit in my oppinion both with the look and gameplay) but this one is kind of a in-between, NES color palette on Snes graphics/texture and it bugs my brain I guess...

Hopefully it'll grow on me or the gameplay will make me forget it.

Edit : Ok went to the eShop and managed to press buy without bringing my eyes to the screenshot area ... now just have to not let it die in my backlog because of the look... I think I'll finish Fire Emblem and force myself to give it a try...

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield's Japanese Launch Event Has Been Canned

RunGMhx

It's the first time I'm following a Pokemon game launch (not counting Let's Go as it was more of remaster) and I have to admit that things seems pretty rough... As was not expecting big N to make so many stumble with such a big game (Mario Maker and Smash had pretty solid release).... Is it always like that? It seems the more and more info we get, the more and more people get pissed at the came, from the national dex, to the leaks, the cut Pokemon from the leaks ... Is it just me?

Re: And Just Like That, Fortnite Is No More

RunGMhx

A lot of people hate fortnite, I personally have never tried it but ive seen a lot news about the game and they seem to be pretty good on marketing to get people to talk... from this and all the crossover with movies and everything as an ex marketing student I truly appreciate the way they manage to create buzz over and over...

Re: Dataminers Uncover Evidence Of Unreleased Super Mario Party DLC

RunGMhx

I love playing this game with my son and wife unfortunately we barely ever do... this was my first Mario party game and bought it within 2 weeks of launch, but the lack of support for the game have left such a bitter taste I’m pretty sure it will also be my last. Hold to it hoping a patch or DLC would come but with the 1 year anniversary coming pretty sure this is not going to happen.

My biggest complain is the lack of save for multiplayer game, once you start you can’t stop. Yes you can put the switch to sleep but you can’t play anything else on the console or you lose the game... thing is we don’t always have an hour to play, sometime it would be nice to play 2-3 turn and just get back to it later... I remember not using the switch for like 2 weeks because we wanted to finish a game for once... after two weeks my son was pissed and so was I so we scrapped the game as we decided that if we buy console and game, it’s not to avoid playing them, but we just couldn’t find the time to be the 3 of us in the room with spare time...

Re: Guide: The 20 SNES Games Coming To Nintendo Switch Today, Ranked By Us

RunGMhx

@Crono1973 Yes I know, so it's unlikely that we'll see it in NSO, while I was tempted by the mana collection the price as of now (50$CAD) kind of turn me down as I'm mostly interested in the Snes game...

As a matter of fact I think what I need is more like a good old school RPG as I find new one to too complex for the commitment I,m welling to make...

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Online’s Appeal Is Growing, But There's A Long Way To Go

RunGMhx

Not so sure.... Demo have been part of video games since the PS1 as far as I can remember, it always been a perk I wouldn't say something worth paying a subscription for.... Of course one could argue that you get the full game but in the age of online gaming that's pretty much a demo of the online.... and unlike previous traditional demo it's for a very specific time so might not be able to enjoy it all.... it certainly not like the monthly game other system give you every month, since you get to keep them and add them to your backlog... and we don't even know how frequent they'll be... NSO still seems like a rip-off to me as the nes game are of no interest to me and the online is often to unstable for me to enjoy (with smash of Mario maker)...

Re: Pokémon GO Is Dropping Its Apple Watch Support

RunGMhx

Had better result of tracking with adventure sync (steps counted by the Apple Watch) than with watch app itself... I’ll no longer be able to spin pokestop from the watch but I didn’t do it in years because of how unreliable it was and again how badly it counted steps... I remember going for a 32k run yet being unable to hatch a 2km egg, I was done with the watch app after that happened...

Re: Team Cherry Provides Hollow Knight: Silksong Update, New Characters Revealed

RunGMhx

@justin233 That boss has been the one that I had the hardest time with, not because of the boss itself but in good part because of the long way between the closest save and the boss. It made a learning the boss pattern really punishing and time consuming... I guess you could search for upgrades to the needle and the life bar to make it easier... or different combination of charms...

Re: Get Discounts On Xenoblade, Metroid And More With The Latest European My Nintendo Rewards

RunGMhx

@Bunkerneath spent 900 points to get 9$ off, with the discount seen above... 130 points (so about 1/7 of what I spent), give you a discount of 22$ (CAD) (about 2.5 times what I got) which makes spending points on percentage off about 17 times more advantageous... so yeah gold point give you money off but I wouldn’t say it’s nearly the same or even compare the two... I’m pretty sure Nintendo will give you switch discount at some point... I honestly thought these would be the special offers perks that supposedly come with NSO (instead of the right to purchase rather useless controller).

Re: Commander Keen Creator Would Love To Make A New Game But Doesn't Have The Rights

RunGMhx

I loved keen as a kid, but 10$ is too much for a game like this nowadays, I remember being able to beat it and I was maybe like 5 or 7... and it was within a sitting... Looked at a quick video online to see which keen it was and it reminded me that you’ll likely want to play this game with the sound off unless they’ve done something with the sound...

I feel like for this price it should have been the collection. Given that the game likely have aged poorly this would have soften the blow.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

RunGMhx

@Kilroy While the point is good about the switch getting lost as well in a fire, you can easily replace it, some games are harder to find (had a hard time finding arms for my 4 years old as an example). Renter insurance will give you money but if you can’t find the game (I guess you can go digital at that point bringing the thing full circle haha).... as for theft, the insurance will pay under specific circumstances... and depending on what was stolen and the deductibles you might not make a claim.... as for the sd card, it’s basically the same rule, might be covered by insurances... as for kids damaging the thing, from my experience is while they’re too young to play that there’s the biggest chance for damage... I remember not being able to insert disc in my ps3, then I opened it and realized that my then 2 years old had managed to insert two disc in it (both damaged) as well as a few buttons from his PJs and a gift card... fortunately the ps3 was salvaged...

At the end of the day, I’m mostly physical myself, but can’t deny that I sometime see huge benefit (and convenience) in being digital...
