I'd always wondered if maybe the North American box for this game was an acquired taste, but the poll results so far suggest maybe I'm not alone on thinking it's cool. It's definitely memorable.
I've never much liked the North American Resident Evil boxes, but this one actually was kind of a tough call. Nevertheless, ended up voting Europe/Japan.
This was a weird era of Capcom USA where they just pulled random artwork for their box arts for some reason. I think it was Capcom vs SNK maybe that's even uglier than this.
@Interneto Say what you will about Sunshine, but Cataquack also appears in Double Dash and Mario Kart Wii as an obstacle on the Peach Beach course, which returns from those two games once again in Mario Kart World. Piantas have also shown up as spectators in past Kart games I think. They've certainly stuck around.
Solid! It feels appropriate for a system that's winding down, but there was still a lot to love, and it was a statement of intent that the Switch still has some life in it yet. Also, Metroid looks sick as!
People actually have started receiving the physical version already as of a couple weeks ago. Bit of a strange situation when the release date hadn't been announced yet.
I'm gonna just put it out there btw that like a lot of the "QuByte Classics" releases on Switch, this is a poor quality port with a lot of notable bugs. I'm not knowledgeable enough on this game to remember all the details, but I would look into that before jumping in.
Nobody really talks about it but the Wii version is missing some of the graphical effects compared to the PS2 original. The controls are likely the bigger sticking point, but in general the porting job was, while fine given the circumstances, not the best now that we have other options.
@Ks123 Tomb Raider got a regular retail release in Europe/Oceania where I live, as have most Aspyr releases. Not sure yet if the same will happen for Soul Reaver.
International box for me. There really was something about that style of artwork on all of the N64 Mario games that just felt so magical and inviting back in the day.
I just need some basic "common sense" curation on getting games approved for the eshop. I know this is difficult to define and dangerous for them to get wrong, but it's clear that doing nothing and being too lenient just isn't working.
Beyond that, yeah, some improvement to discoverability and the user experience itself would go a long way. Because all of the major platforms have an issue with slop littering the stores, but I find myself checking the store more often on Xbox and Steam compared to Nintendo Switch, or on PlayStation for that matter which is probably even worse.
The next Nintendo system straight up cannot launch with these problems carried over. I would even go as far to say it would be downright disastrous for the launch of the next system if they don't do at least something to tidy this mess up. If from day one the Switch 2's eshop is just the Switch 1's weekly flood of trash pushing out all the games that actually show off the new system, that's not good.
I think the way for a price drop going forward is the same as it's been for all of Nintendo Switch's life; the Switch Lite is the price drop.
I imagine they'll phase out the regular and OLED models and keep Nintendo Switch Lite in production alongside the Switch 2 for at least a year as the budget option. Similar to what they did with Nintendo 2DS and later the NN2DS XL. – And I can totally see the Switch successor being more expensive, too.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: The Hobbit (GBA)
I probably don't need to comment on all of these, but it's a hard Hobbit to break. (Japan btw.)
Re: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Will "Average" 30fps On Switch
Bah. I'm still excited for this game but 30fps is a hard sell for a side scroller. May consider PC, but we'll see.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Weaponlord (SNES)
Weaponlord! There's a fascinating game I forgot existed.
Unfortunately both of these boxes are kind of a mess IMO. Gonna be controversial and vote Europe.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
An easy win for NA/Europe. Small chance that could be my nostalgia talking.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
I've never much liked the North American Resident Evil boxes, but this one actually was kind of a tough call. Nevertheless, ended up voting Europe/Japan.
Re: Random: Mario Kart World Player 'Breaks' The Game, Takes Flight Over Mario Circuit
Literally unplayable. Not hyperbolic at all.
Re: A New Goosebumps Game Is Shuffling Onto The Switch This August
Coming this Augustweeeen~
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Jet Set Radio (Dreamcast)
I have nostalgia for the others for sure, but it's Japan for me, hands down.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: New Age Of Heroes (Dreamcast)
Europe (or Japan) for me.
This was a weird era of Capcom USA where they just pulled random artwork for their box arts for some reason. I think it was Capcom vs SNK maybe that's even uglier than this.
Re: Codemasters Says It Will Look At Switch 2 And See If It's A "Good Fit" For F1 Games
They made F1 for PSP and Nintendo 3DS. Different time and different development standards (and I believe they were outsourced), but, still.
Re: Random: Mario Kart World's Devs Had To Double Check Mario Actually Eats Power-Up Mushrooms
Nobody told Mario you really oughta cook mushrooms before eating them.
Re: Nintendo Appoints Doll Company Executive As A New Outside Director
Well there goes my plan of buying twenty Nintendo Switch 2 consoles. I'll have to limit myself to two or three or four or five consoles.

Re: ICYMI: Switch 2 'GameCube Controller Adapter' Compatibility Confirmed
Buying the Smash Bros game and controller adaptor bundle back on the Wii U has proven to be a very good investment over the years.
Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Direct For March 2025?
Solid! It feels appropriate for a system that's winding down, but there was still a lot to love, and it was a statement of intent that the Switch still has some life in it yet. Also, Metroid looks sick as!
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Nobunaga's Ambition (SNES)
My vote is for Japan's box this week. It just looks classier, fitting given the more grown-up audience these classic Koei strategy games had.
Re: Dave The Diver 'Yakuza: Like A Dragon' Limited Time DLC Sails Onto Switch This April
That the DLC is free is a small blessing, but it's still not a great state of affairs for it to be time limited.
I already missed out on the Godzilla DLC because I didn't know they did this limited-time for that one too.
Re: 'Azure Striker Gunvolt Trilogy Enhanced' Announced For Switch
@TCKuma Couldn't you just sell those versions? If they're as limited as people say, you'd probably get good money from collectors.

Re: Rumour: Switch 2 Game Cases Might Take Up More Space On Your Shelf
Man, I hope not. Or at least I hope they don't make it taller, since Switch game boxes fit into standard Blu-ray shelves.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Mario Kart 64
International box for me. There really was something about that style of artwork on all of the N64 Mario games that just felt so magical and inviting back in the day.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Okami
I never much liked the western Wii box art. But then I had/have the game on PS2 instead.
