Re: Deals: The Best Nintendo Switch Carrying Cases

RGnsd

I have the Sheikah Slate case but now I kinda want another case to carry 2 pairs of extra joy-cons with me (for playing ARMS w/ friends lol). However, the quality of the Sheikah slate case is holding me back because I can't seem to find any other case that can beat it... I wanted that switch messenger bag for a while but I need to have my laptop and other stuff for work all the time. It would be really silly carrying a backpack and a messenger bag at the same time. :/

Re: Switch Owners Won't Be Able To Play Minecraft Or Rocket League Against PS4 Owners, And Here's Why

RGnsd

oh these two popular games are coming to switch;
oh these two popular games now support cross-platform;
oh here's a reason for people to buy switch;
oh our stakeholders decided ps4, the one has the largest user base, will not allow cross-platform;
oh but we are just trying to protect our children from internet bullying;
oh but you know what all the games we showed in E3 are M rated;
oh and when grandparents are tricked by kids to buy M rated games it's not our responsibility we tried to protect them okay;
oh why?because we are protecting children in minecraft;
oh and for real gosh no our stakeholders are not going to believe people now are hesitating getting switch.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is Now Approved for Sale in China

@NEStalgia Because the huge population and all the people shop on Taobao, its parent company developed this service kinda like PayPal called AliPay. But besides just buying things on its own website, you can also transfer money to different banking accounts, buy train/flight tickets, pay your rent and utilities, buy lotteries and insurances, invest in small businesses or get financial aids, call taxis/uber and even donate to charities. Last year when I went to visit friends there, we went out for a whole day without reaching to our wallets - everything, from food in fancy restaurants to fresh flowers from street vendors, can be paid by scanning QR codes with Alipay on my friends' smartphones. It kinda changed the way people purchase services and products in China. Since it encouraged people to consume stuff and boosted the economy so much, the government invited the CEO to various summits/conferences to discuss how they can help each other. So did they have an agreement? Probably.

However, I don't think selling imported games is actually a concern on the government's mind. They do have guideline on how and what you can import to the country. I hate to say this......but they probably just never thought gaming industry is a big deal until recent years. :/ They never had (and still don't have) anything like ESRB or PEGI. So instead of making a rating system to make it easier for foreign companies to come and publish games officially, they just cut everything off and allowed people to import games on their own. Weird, huh?

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is Now Approved for Sale in China

RGnsd

@NEStalgia It's totally in the open. Taobao is like Ebay here. Individual sellers can import and sell games on the website. And the website even has different categories like "JP ver/NA ver/EU ver/HK ver/TW ver" for different sellers and buyers. And surprisingly the government showed fully support for the website and its parent company. But since it's like Ebay, it not very easy to regulate. In that sense, it's like a grey area?? I mean, some people on ebay are also kinda shady.

Amazon JP also offers global shipping to China on console games. People can also just buy on Amazon JP and pay taxes to import games themselves. There's nothing wrong with that.

Every market is different. Government on one hand is hard to deal with. But on the other hand, a company has to meet the consumer's needs to actually generate profits. And when satisfying one market (like potentially lowering price in China to push sells) will jeopardize other markets(consumers in other countries will definitely get upset), things just get tricky. From a business's point of view, a company would stay away from that market as long as possible.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is Now Approved for Sale in China

And what is really interesting is, the Japanses version of Fire Emblem Echoes, actually has Chinese (both simplified and traditional) language option. Why would they go so far by adding another language when 3DS is region locked? It's probably because there's a high demand in China.

That should also tell you that the gaming market in China is not what some of you think it is. It's not completely dark and gloomy.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is Now Approved for Sale in China

RGnsd

@NEStalgia That's actually not the case. When I lived in China, a lot of my friends have 3DS that they bought either online or when they traveled to HongKong/Japan. The thing is, since China is closer to Japan, they actually got a lot more options than us who live in NA or Europe... Some of my Chinese friends bought Persona 5 and started playing it right after it was released in Japan - that's a whole year earlier than any of us here...

It's the price that stopped most people from buying. Chinese Games, like PC game Gu Jian Qi Tan, are only sold at a price of 75 yuan (10 dollars), which is the normal price for games in China. People just don't see a reason to buy console games from Sony/MS, comparing they are sold at a much higher price of 59.99/49.99/39.99 dollars.

And I think that's another reason why the Chinese market is so hard to crack. Companies like Sony and MS still want to keep their price tags in China. Instead of selling 100 copies and get 1000 dollars from Chinese consumers, they still choose to sell only one copy and get 50 dollars. They completely overlooked the power of population there lol.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Heroes (Mobile)

RGnsd

@PotatoTheG but...you really don't have to pay for that... It's not necessary at all. Right now they are giving free orbs to people everyday. I just got 10 free orbs today...

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Heroes (Mobile)

RGnsd

...I still don't get it when people say this game is pay-to-win. The only thing you can spend money on atm is purchasing orbs, which can be earned by beating story mode/giving you for free on a daily basis in game/redeeming for free on My Nintendo website. And orbs only summon heroes, it does not give them skills/level them up.
If you use Training tower regularly you can beat this game.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Heroes (Mobile)

RGnsd

@PotatoTheG You are joking right? Overpriced?? It's a free game...
And if you think it's boring, you can try Advanced Arena Duels and all chapters on Hard/Lunatic. My team are now mostly above lv.30 (5 star Takumi(31), Camilla(31), Robin(30) and 4 star Lissa(27)) and I still find it very exciting/challenging in Arena Duels.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Releasing New Super Mario Bros. On The Nvidia Shield In China

RGnsd

@Anti-Matter I learnt both Chinese and Japanese. Went to both countries. Made many Chinese and Japanese friends. Although they are very different, but both of them have very impressive features and characteristics. Japan also learnt a lot from China back in the day, so naturally they share many things with each other.
If you think it's a boring place for gaming, you can search NetEase's Onmyoji. I think it's a perfect example of the relationship of Chinese and Japanese folklore and culture. It's a Chinese mobile game based on Japanese history but has a lot of yokai/spirits from both countries. And the Chinese company hired a lot of famous Japanese seiyuu, too.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Releasing New Super Mario Bros. On The Nvidia Shield In China

RGnsd

lol I can't believe how many people are living in their own bubbles. Sony's Play station and Microsoft Xbox have already entered China OFFICIALLY years ago, and, don't be surprised, some of my Chinese friends bought their consoles.
I don't get the whole idea of people thinking China is still that weird country that produces bootlegs and not paying for anything. Yes, there are still people like that in China. But come on, now China is the second largest luxury consumer in the world - what makes you think they can't pay for their games when they can afford 700usd shoes?? And if you doubt it, go search "China’s sales of PlayStation VR sets top Asian markets".

I had my own version of this country before, just like some of you. But I visited China last summer and the country blew my mind. Seriously, don't live in your own little world. There are always more to see.

Re: Hong Kong Pokémon Fans Protest Over New Translation Issues with Sun and Moon

RGnsd

@Ryu_Niiyama I don't know if it's true: usually people know simplified Chinese can read Traditional Chinese, but not vice versa. My friends from Hong Kong can't read anything in simplified Chinese. And I have some friends from mainland that can read newspaper my HK friends brought from their homes.

I feel like people that already knew simplified Chinese are willing to learn traditional chinese (and they have to if they practice calligraphy); However, people who know traditional Chinese sometimes are a little hostile toward simplified Chinese - they don't want to try to learn.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Fans Petition the White House To Secure Visa Rights for eSports Competitors

RGnsd

He got a B2 visa, when he was required a H1 visa. I doubt he didn't know he needed a work visa beforehand. He was just trying to find the loophole in the policy. And then he tried to apply for P1 visa. I'm guessing the company sponsored him wouldn't want to give him an invitation letter so he could get a B1. This guy didn't do enough work for himself so he could stay legally. And now he wants to get around it again by using internet?

What is a real job? And what is a real (traditional) athletes? Legally, if people want to get P1 visa, it's easier for them if they are professional athletes. Each country has its own policies on getting the professional athlete title recognized by official/government organizations. Most of the time, being professional athletes means people have to compete in official games. It's not just a random game in the park. A group of elementary school soccer team will have a much harder time to get P1 visa than a group of Olympic players.

But what defines e-sports professional players? I can be really good at a competitive game like SSB, but there's not many official organizations to recognize this and give me a title. I can call myself a professional player, but not everyone else will agree with me. E-sports is a new thing and not many people understand it. It has a much smaller audience group and revenue value comparing to traditional sports. It bonds to meet all kinds of resistance.

Re: Turns Out The Guy Behind Final Fantasy Loves Fire Emblem Too

RGnsd

I'm so tired of people keep saying FE now is "waifu sim".

This feature is optional. OPTIONAL. If you need a dictionary to look up the meaning of "optional" then go get one. No one drags you and forces you to marry someone in the game. If you don't like this feature so much why you keep mentioning it? Why not just ignore it? STOP whining.

tbh, keep saying "FE is now all about waifu trash" or "players playing this game are all weaboo" does NOT make you look better or smart. It actually shows how shallow and immature you are. Instead of focusing on analyzing the battle and weapon systems, which contribute much more to the gameplay, and giving suggestions and more valuable thoughts so that IS and Nintendo can do better next time, spending 99% of the time complaining about a not-so-important aspect of this game is just pathetic.

And this comes from someone who thinks the marriage system is not necessary in FE14.

Re: New DLC Maps Are Coming To Fire Emblem Fates Next Month

RGnsd

I get to hear Shigure singing in this map so you bet I will play it again. Not to mention after hearing the Japanese voice actor's version I'm much more intrigued to hear the English version. But man was this map hard to play... with that lame hit rate it was so frustrating sometimes. The only two good things are the story and rewards.

Re: Nintendo Issues Statement On Side Quest Changes In Bravely Second

RGnsd

@Kokusho Hahaha I played the Japanese version before last summer and couldn't remember much about this game. But now reading your comment I find some of my memories back. I was a little upset at that time that I had to fight the one I actually want to side with just because I wanted their jobs...

Re: Nintendo Issues Statement On Side Quest Changes In Bravely Second

RGnsd

There are some fantastic discussions here and I'm just happy we can share our thoughts, even they are so different from each other, with each other.

@Einherjar I could print your comment out and tape it on my wall hahaha. But it is also true that we, human, can't help ourselves to relate to things we experience. And most of us tend to follow because not everyone is a strong thinker.

That is where the problem lies. All the controversy, all the unnecessary rumors and controversies are originated from it. People think so different, but they also like to group with others to share and form a similar thought. It is impossible to satisfy everyone or every group of people with one thing.

As for this case you and @Ryu_Niiyama are discussing about, the thing is, I don't think any of you are wrong. Because it really is not a black and white issue. Both of you represent a group of people that have great intentions. I personally don't understand why people are all worked up when they see game characters in bunny suits or bikini. There are so many ways to say this... As an artist, I like to draw my characters in swim suits because I think they look great in them. Their bodies to me are the work of art. If I can have an opportunity to show off how great their bodies are, you bet I will do that. Not to mention it is way much easier to draw lol.
But from the game company's view, apparently most of the time is fanservice. So it sometimes really is not the developers' fault. If there's a demand, there will be a supply. Asking developers to stop what they are doing is like trying to stop boiling water from boiling by putting a lid on it - if you really want to stop that you probably should turn off the stove instead. However, that is a long way to go, and may I say, a rather impossible goal to achieve. Because... there always will be people pushing their own fantasy(or someone may say pervert) thoughts on fictional characters.
