For Nintendo and its employees, I guess this is more about working ethics instead of just spreading rumors. If you work for a company, you really should know what to do, and what not to do. Some projects may even be confidential, and leaking information will not and should not be tolerated. It is a BIG problem if this kind of info leaking has Nintendo's own employees involved.
And as for people online who spread rumors for fun or just trolling, sometimes they just act like clowns. However sometimes even the stupidest rumor can do damage. Since not everyone thinks when reads.
Nintendo usually don't advertise their products enough and each time, and by each time I mean only during holiday seasons, they advertise their products, it's all about Mario, Pokemon, or Link, and sometimes Splatoon. People can get bored and think there are no other games on Nintendo devices. I personally never see a commercial about Bravely Default, Fire Emblem, Ace Attorney, or other amazing titles. If I want to get any info on the upcoming games, I have to go to Amazon or gaming websites like NintendoLife.
I mean, I go to these websites bc I'm already a Nintendo fan and I already own a Wii U and 3DS. But for someone that is a newcomer with limited sources, who will spend that much time to search something that they are not sure if they want or not?
@zool well what you said is not exactly right. I actually know more female friends owning 3DS than male friends. And all of them have Mario, Smash, and Fire Emblem. Some of them are not very good at gaming, but they learn rather quick. And some of them are actually unbeatable in Smash. Our college Smash Tournament champion was a girl last year. She's from Japan but she actually never played (or knew) Smash until she came to the US. And six weeks later she beat 150+ people and won the tournament lol. So I know what Nintendo means by saying they want to attract more female players. I know more guys that are into home consoles and games like Fallout or CoD. 3DS somehow doesn't interest them due to the lack of FPS and 3rd party games.
@Blynyork I was playing one of the DLCs a few hours ago and realized three of them are actually related to Awakening... Two of them are actually pretty interesting and important if you want to figure out what happened before the Fates story. But I guess since it's DLC, it's optional and you can always go back to play them. The main storyline/gameplay won't be affected if you've never played FE:A before.
@roboshort well they did redo a lot of songs for games in the past. But talking about the overall qualities...? Nah I don't really want to think about them. :/ Just like @LasermasterA said, dual audio is a better option for this game if localization does happen. I like the battle system, a lot.
@Blynyork Yeah I own several FE titles! For someone who haven't played Awakening before, playing Birthright before playing any other paths is probably better. It gets you familiar with the system. Not to mention in Fates, you can always set your difficulty lower if you want to. In general I think Fates is actually a better choice for first-time players due to more balanced weapon and battle system and great graphics. ;P
I have the 25th Anniversary book. btw, it is not an art book. It's more like an interview collection and the development history of FE series over these 25 years.
I doubt Genei Ibun Roku #FE will come to the west though. Got the game, and found out it has a lot of singing (of course they are all in Japanese). According to Nintendo, localization usually also means translate all the songs. How to find the right singers and translate everything appropriately may be not that easy and take too much time. But who knows?
I appreciate the game, but this art book? I'm not sure... the game looks great on Wii U but surprisingly I don't have the urge to purchase this art book. I did pick up the music CD...
@Zoda_Fett Hahaha you are welcome! I didn't even want to comment anything on FE:Fates because I was afraid I might spoil things unintentionally... But all the talking around this topic just made me sooooo tired. I felt like I should say something since it seems like no one, not even the media, knows what's going on...
@BRAINFOX well, games like DAI are rated M for reasons. Fire Emblem:if is rated CERO C in Japan, which means the audience should be 15+ years old. And FE:A is rated B (12+ yo). Both Fates and Awakening are rated ESRB Teen (13+ yo) here. That's why I don't think it's double standard. They had to tone it down a lil bit. It's only appropriate to make this kind of change. You can't compare games without looking at their ratings.
Okay, I have the JP version and already have 560+ hours on this game. I'm just putting my opinions out here. This petting thing was fun and interesting when I was playing Hoshido and Nohr paths. Because some of them do have funny reactions. It's not like you are having some R18+ conversations. btw, I spent my high school in East Asia. They do tend to be more touchy touchy among friends than some of us. so CLEAN YOUR OWN MIND. But then the fun wore off eventually. I didn't even pet anyone in the 3rd path... FYI, in the JP version, after you get married, you have the exact same thing (asleep and poke them) this article mentioned. But not for normal friends, because they don't sleep in your room come on. So "that in the Japanese version anyone you invite to your quarters would get the same hands-on treatment" is actually a misunderstanding.
However, I do appreciate NoA made this change. It cleared and avoided a lot of unnecessary media gossips. It's a nice move for localization, because, you know, there are culture differences.

Re: Bayonetta Could've Been in Project X Zone 2
PXZ 2 is amazing! Never played PXZ but as a big FE fan I played it instead of Fates, and so far I'm enjoying it!!

Hahaha the funniest one in those YouTube comments is this:
"Looks like Corrin has many choices.
A European release date, is not one of them."
